Holy WOW! Sandie Jones has done it again. A book that hooks your mind in a death hold, from beginning until end. Another must read for my fellow thriller fans. She has such a style, which absolutely makes sure to twist your mind into a giant pretzel. Lots of thrills, chills, and twists & turns.
Will be highly recommending, using in a challenge, and buzzing it up in Chapter Chatter Pub!

I read this one in 24 hours and this book is the real meaning of a page-turner! I thought her first book was amazing, and this one is equally as amazing! The suspense keeps building and I was never sure who was lying, who was just nuts, or who was genuine! Alice’s first husband, Tom, died (although his body was never found) and she had idolised him. Then she meets and marries Nathan and her world is happy again, or is it? Nathan behaves suspiciously and Alice is not sure what it means. I just loved, loved that ending! I will make sure I do not miss her next book!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Having loved The Other Woman, I had high expectations for this one and dare I say I liked it even better! Alice lost her first husband, Tom in a skiing accident years ago and is now happily married to Nathan. But when she begins to discover clues of his infidelity and he swears it's all in her head, she turns to her best friend, Beth. But of course things are never as they seem, and Alice finds her life turned upside down as she begins to uncover the secrets lurking beneath the surface of this idyllic marriage. Do you trust your husband or best friend? Can the past ever stay in the past or is there always something suspicious about unanswered questions? Jones is a master story teller with twists at every turn that had me gasping for breath as I tried to put together all the pieces to this puzzle. And oh, what an ending! If psychological thrillers are your jam, then pre-order this one today! Out June 11.

Sandie Jones has out done herself on The First Mistake
If I could give this book more than 5 stars I would .
As you start the book, there is a false sense of security for the reader who will be convinced okay I know where this is going. At least I thought that.
I could not have been more wrong !!
This book had twists and turns and you soon start flipping those pages to see if Alice will come out unscathed. What is Beth up to or Nathan ?
Thanks to Net Galley and the publishers for the opportunity of reading The First Mistake
This book will stay with you after you put down.

The First Mistake, the latest thriller by Sandie Jones, is a twisting, turning tale of friendship, love and betrayal. I thought I had the ending all figured out only to have my theories turned upside down and tilted sideways. I thoroughly reading this. If you enjoyed The Other Woman, I think you’ll like The First Mistake even more.

I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review. This is the second book I've read by Sandie Jones, it did not disappoint. This thriller had me staying up late and waking up early to finish it. I loved the twists and turns and the so many "I wonders". I truly enjoyed this book, will be recommending to friends and family once it's published. This is a must read!

I read The Other Woman and could not put it down, so when I heard about The First Mistake I knew I had to read it. I devoured this book in two days!! Alice is married to her second husband Nathan and running a thriving design business. After finding a few clues that lead her to think that Nathan is having an affair things quickly spiral out of control. This was a twisty, compulsive read!!

This book was an absolutely page turner. This is my second book by Sandie Jones. The first one was The Other Woman which was fantastic but in this book, The First Mistake Sandie Jones has outdid herself. As you know from the blurb, about Alice and what happened to her and then there is this supposed best friend who definitely has another agenda. As the book progresses, you begin to understand more when you get to Beth’s story. This book has more twists and turns and intrigue and suspense which keeps one reading to the finish. I do not want to give away any spoilers but even in the last chapter there is another twist. I highly recommend this book if you love psychological thrillers. Bravo to Sandie Jones on a terrific, page turning book and thanks to net galley for this ARC I received for an honest review. This book was an absolutely page turner.

Great fast paced book! The twists and turns kept me guessing. I swore I knew what was really going on and I was completely and utterly wrong. I really enjoyed reading this and stayed up way too late to finish it. I really enjoyed this author and plan to read her other book (The Other Woman) now too.

Sandie Jones did it again! When I read The Other Woman (before it was Reese's pick), I was obsessed with it. I feel the same way with this one. The best part was the fast paced nature of the book. She jumps in with almost a chick-lit grab and then it just starts getting a bit more worrisome that Alice's life isn't as perfect as she thinks.
Then the reveals start happening. I have to say that I figured out a few things, but I didn't catch the big reveal at the end. I loved it and will recommend to all of my friends.

My appreciation goes out to Minotaur Books and Netgalley for an early read of this title which goes public in June. Alice’s first husband died in a skiing accident. Her second, Nathan, makes her very happy and they even work together at the same company. Beth, her best friend and Alice share trials and tribulations, so when Nathan starts acting weird, Alice discusses what he’s doing with best. But who should you trust? If anyone.
Sandie Jones knows how to write a psychological thriller and do it well. She leads you down one path, only to pepper it with detours. Most reviewers have read this book in one sitting. I can’t do that with anything, but it’s definitely a novel that keeps you coming back to find out what happens and who is the guilty one or ones. I thoroughly enjoyed “The First Mistake” and can’t wait for Jones’ next thriller.

This book is so good! I read it in a day because I could not put it down! I love the writing style of Sandie Jones, the book just flows really well which made it a super quick read that kept my attention the entire time. I really liked the way the stories of both Alice and Beth were presented because it had me trying to figure out how everything tied together. I was sure I had figured out about half way through, but to my surprise the twists just kept coming. This is one of those books that has you thinking “just one more chapter”, then 2 hours later you’re still at it. Definitely pick this one up if you’re looking for an unputdownable reads with twists that will keep you guessing until the last page!

Alice: a mother and wife who lost her husband. She's trying so hard to overcome her fear of her children being orphans. At the same time, she's trying to keep her husband's dream alive with expanding her interior designing company.
Nathan: Alice's second husband who is always being compared to a ghost.
Beth: Alice's best friend. A single mother who is trying to raise her girl with what little she has.
The story line follows very much the same as Sandie Jones' last novel. It is twisted to the point on non-recognition. When you think you know something, it's not even the opposite but something completely different. I don't like Alice as a protagonist. She's weak and helpless all the way until the end. It's a wonder that she's even alive. It's frustrating. It was a great read.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for letting me read this fabulous ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was my first read by Sandie Jones and it won't be my last! This is a very interesting story, full of twist and surprises that I didn't see coming. Alice has lost her husband Tom to a tragic accident and remarried to Nathan. She has a good job, two lovely daughters and a best friends she adores. She is still dealing with the loss of her husband in the past and she has been trying to move forward in her second phase of life. Things start to get a bit confused for her when strange things happen that cause her to questions her husband's faithfulness. It's hard to discuss this story without giving things away, but as they story progresses, the reader is sucked in to the twists that author throws in and is left wondering what is truly going on. This is a thrilling novel and kept me guessing (and up way to late reading)! Thank you netgalley for an arc of this story in exchange for my honest opinion.

Alice has two daughters, an attentive and supportive husband, and a successful interior design business that she built with her first husband, who passed away many years prior in an accident. She's finally gotten to a point where she can move on in life, thanks to her husband Nathan and her best friend Beth. But suddenly, little things start happening that cause her to question her relationship with her adoring husband and also her always supportive best friend, and Alice finds her idyllic live suddenly getting turned upside down again. Who can be trusted?
Early on in the book, I thought I had a pretty good idea how this was going to end up. Well, I was wrong! It kept me guessing as new details came to light, and pretty sure my mouth actually gaped open in surprise at one point towards the end! Highly recommend reading if you are a fan of psychological thrillers and suspense, this will be a hot book this summer I'm sure! I haven't yet gotten around to reading her first book, The Other Woman yet, but after reading The First Mistake, I'm moving it up on my TBR list!

I received a copy of from NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion. Thank you to the author and publisher for the opportunity.
5 Stars and here’s why:
Psychological thrillers are my jam and Ms. Jones delivers. THE FIRST MISTAKE captured my attention from the get-go. The author is a master storyteller. The book’s plot twists and turns made my brain blow a fuse trying to figure out how this story would end. Every nuance makes sense, or so you think, and then bam! Total whiplash trying to keep my wits about me while reading THE FIRST MISTAKE! This is my second book by Sandie Jones, and I have to say, she’s at the top of my must read all of her books list.
If you like mind-blowing writing, a plot-driven story with psychological intrigue giving you a total book hangover, and well-developed characters hijacking your mind for days afterward, then this book is definitely for you. Highly recommend.

Alice and Beth like to enjoy a glass of wine together now and again, which is rare for Alice to have friendship that means so much to her. After her husband died tragically in a skiing accident years ago, she has tiptoed quietly around life, determined to keep herself and her daughters safe from harm. When Beth divulges an impossible to believe scenario, that her daughter's father who abandoned them both when Beth was pregnant, has the same birthday and name as Alice's deceased husband, both women's lives are thrown into tumultuous somersaults. Can it really be true? And is Tom still alive somewhere, like social media is indicating? Jones' follow up to the successful The Other Woman, is extremely enjoyable, while at the same time, tense like a good thriller should be. Expect to not be able to stop reading. Fans of psychological thriller authors like Ruth Ware, Paula Hawkins, and Shari Lapena will eat this up.

THE FIRST MISTAKE has all the points of the kind of mystery that I like. No blood and gore but a psychological thriller. After Tom dies and is never recovered, Alice has Avery difficult time surviving until she meets Nathan. Nathan helps her hrough a very rough period in her life. But suddenly, things become quite confusing when items show up from another or other women. Nathan convinces Alice that someone is setting him up.
Alice meets Beth. They become best friends and Alice feels like she can talk th beth about her situation because she had been through a tough time herself. And then beth and Nathan met. That reall complicated relationships.

She did it again! This author is phenomenal, and I enjoyed this book just as much as I did her first novel, The Other Woman! The author has a knack for writing good plots with tons of twists.
This book follows two women, telling their separate stories, and also intertwining them.
The first woman is Alice. She is in the prime of her life making tons of money at her own company. She has 2 girls at home, and is on her second marriage; although she is still recovering from the tragic loss of her first husband.
The second woman is Beth. She is a single mother of one daughter, and is currently on the watch for Mr. Right!
These two woman are brought together, because their children end up at the same school. They hit it off right away, and basically end up the bestest friends. The information that both come into will test their relationship by either breaking it up or making it stronger.
I am already waiting for the author's next book!

Great story. Sandie Jones has done it again. The Other Woman was really good and The First Mistake is equally good. Compulsive read that leads you one way and then another. Don't assume you know what is happening or where it is going, but you will want to get there in a hurry.
Alice, Beth, the two main characters, are good friends and so are their daughters. Nathan is Alice's second hubby, but is he more than he seems? It was very hard to put this book down watching the twists and turns. Really enjoyed it!

There’s not a lot of books that I’ve read that stay with me throughout the day I think about it of and on during work and when I’m doing stuff around the house. This book really did that it stayed with me and I was constantly thinking of things that were happening in it and what I thought might happen next it just really kept me interested. The other books that she’s written do the same she’s a wonderful writer and I really recommend her books. I can’t wait to read more of them. I started this book on a Sunday afternoon and finished it Tuesday night. It was so good that I had to sit up in bed during the middle of the night to read the last chapter even though I had been reading for the past three hours. Wow. Definitely a must read.

THANK YOU, MINOTAUR BOOKS!!!
One of the year's best suspense books!
Alice has it all - a wonderful husband, two wonderful daughters, and a great career. She does miss her deceased first husband, Tom, at times, though. After all, he is the father of her oldest daughter. Alice does suffer from a bit of depression and perhaps agoraphobia - seemingly it is mostly under control. Beth, Alice's best friend, is great for her morale. Unfortunately, lately, so is alcohol.
This book develops and develops. - never disappointing. Sandie Jones consistently weaves a web of ingenious mystery and suspense.
MORE THAN a MUST READ!!!

Thanks to Net Galley and St Martins Press for the opportunity of reading The First Mistake in exchange for an honest review.
This book was amazing. So many twists that you kind of had a feeling where it may go but then a few turns along the way you changed your mind or cast doubt on that feeling. I flew through this book with its written tales of lies and deceit. Sandie Jones sets up the beginning of the book in a way by introducing the characters of book that makes you want to read more. The author does a great job portraying the main character Alice's mental heath. She lost her first husband in an accident and that caused her to spiral down. Meeting her second husband helps her lift her life but she is still fragile....ten years later. That's when the doubts about her second husband start and her downward spiral seems to start again. Writing how Alice began to take charge of herself in order to save herself was a highlight for me.
Sandie Jones is an amazing author and will definitely be reading all her works.

OMG, let me start by saying 2 things... 1. I absolutely LOVED Sandie Jones’ first book, The Other Woman and 2. I don’t think I’ve ever been more excited to get approved for a book on NetGalley!!
Ok so as I said this is the second of Sandie Jones’ books I’ve read and it did NOT disappoint! There is just something about the way this author writes that I completely enjoy. The twists are totally nothing I would’ve guessed. There are so many parts where I’m like “wait, what?” or “OMG no way” or “wow! Totally didn’t see that coming” and that’s what I LOVE about this author.
So about the book... Alice is a mother of two on her second marriage after becoming a widow a few years early. Her new husband is Nathan but Alice starts to suspect things aren’t what she thought in regards to their marriage. She questions whether he is being faithful and is constantly comparing him to her first husband, Tom. Then there is Beth, Alice’s best friend. At the end of part 1, trust me, you are going to read that last sentence and be like “Um what?” But wait and keep reading because there’s even more twists! Alice is starting to question everything she knows in regards to her first husband, her second husband and her best friend. And the end is such a good twist! Both of Sandie Jones’ books have now left me wanting more!! I can’t wait to see what she does in the future!

Thank you so much for this ARC!
First off, I read this in one day. This story is so thrilling you will not want to put it down. Extremely fast paced and far from predictable. I literally had chills after reading certain parts.
After reading The Other Woman and now The First Mistake, it is safe to say I am a HUGE fan of Sandie Jones. Cannot wait to see what she comes up with next!

Another fantastic book from Sandie Jones!!
Alice has had a difficult time since her first husband died but things are looking up for her. Her two daughters and second husband are her world, she has an amazing best friend and a huge opportunity for her business is on the horizon. Until she starts to suspect her husband is having an affair.
I thought I had this twist figured out but I was fooled. This was a page turner for sure. Highly recommend.

I really enjoyed this book. So many twists that you kind of had a feeling where it may go but then a few turns along the way you changed your mind or cast doubt on that feeling. Sandier Jones does a great job portraying the main character Alice's mental heath. She lost her first husband in an accident and that caused her to spiral down. Meeting her second husband helps her lift her life but she is still fragile....ten years later. That's when the doubts about her second husband start and her downward spiral seems to start again. I’m glad Alice found her strength and the ending was not one I saw coming, very enjoyable!

I loved this book. It grabbed from the first page and I could not put it down. There were so many twists and turns that you could figure out where the story line was going. I was very surprised at the ending which was a shock to me as I can normally figure out who did it. Highly recommended

The First Mistake is a wonderfully addictive read. I was given an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review. I stayed up way past my bedtime reading this one and discovered that the issue with ARCs is that I don't have anyone to discuss the book with!! It's hard to say much about this book without giving away any spoilers, so I'll just say you have to read this book if you're a fan of thrillers! I can't wait to see what Sandie Jones has for us next!!

Special thanks to netgalley. I greatly enjoyed the main characters. Alice, her "loving" husband Nathan and best friend Beth are believable, but are the keeping secrets from each other?
Is Alice just afraid of life or still delusional from the death of her first husband, Tom? Is Nathan a cheating husband? Could it be with Beth? Things could be even worse than they appear.
The twists and turns keep you guessing until the last page.

I loved this thriller with a slow and calm beginning which lulled me into thinking I was reading a lovely romance but then turned into a gripping twisty stay-up-all-night read. The story kept me guessing until the end which rarely happens and the characters were wonderfully portrayed. Great author.

This might be my favorite new suspense novel! I thought I knew what was going to happen throughout the book, but at every turn it through me for a loop and I ended up going "WHAT?!" I read this in 2 days and I just couldn't stop reading. This is also one of those badass women books. The main characters overcome what is holding them back and takes back what is theirs. Will definitely recommend when this one comes out!! Thank you Netgalley and Pan Macmillan Publishing for an ARC in return for an honest review of this thrilling page turner!

This book is being published just to in time to be the perfect beach read. This is a wild ride kind of mystery where just when you think you've figured out what's going on, you are thrown in another direction suddenly. There are some great characters in this book....all of them believable and well written. If you think this is your typical love triangle story you will be in for a very big surprise, Set some time aside because once you start this you will not be able to put it down. This book!!! So good!! It had my heart racing as I neared the end! How would it all go down? After reading The Other Woman by Sandie Jones I knew I needed to read this one and it did not disappoint! Alice seemingly has it all — a thriving business, two great daughters, and a devoted second husband. But soon she begins to suspect Nathan of having an affair. She confides in her best friend, Beth, and things don’t seem to be adding up with her, either. And then it all collides at the end! Great, great read! Sandie Jones is a one-click author! Thanks to Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review! Releases June 11!!

A very clever and complex book full of deceit and betrayal. Add a couple of very manipulating characters and the result is a highly enjoyable read that poses questions throughout. Excellent book.

Many thanks to Minotaur Books and NetGalley for the ability to read and review this gem.

This was my first Sandie Jones novel and I'm so happy to have found this author through NetGalley. The First Mistake was a great read. I actually read it in one sitting while on a Spring Break cruise. I could not put it down! I usually have a good idea of where the story is heading and I have to say this one kept me guessing!

So many twists in this book. I had a reading slump before I started it; this pulled me up by my bootstraps and I couldn't read fast enough. So many mistakes, which is the first one? The ending, however, left me stunned -- it is the type of open ending you need to discuss with a friend.

Thank you #NetGalley for an advanced copy of #TheFirstMistake!

The First Mistake is a compelling book. From the first page to the last, the reader will be mesmerized by the unfolding story and all the unexpected twists and turns. The book is hard to put down as every word will hook the reader, and all you want to do is turn to the next page. Sandie Jones has a new fan!

Thank you NetGalley for the advanced reader copy for review.
