They found Talemk an Eisc, rich in timber and farmland. But war with the native population raged for thirty years.

Now a fragile truce has been put in place, but forces are seeking to reignite the conflict. Four very different people - a Farmer, a Spy, a Warrior and a Thief - must work together the preserve the peace.

KD Carter writes an engaging historical novel that balances the necessary research-based material with plot. I had a good time reading this book.

this was a really good read, the characters were great and I really enjoyed reading this. I love Nordic stuff and this didn't disappoint me, I liked the scifi elements and overall plot. I look forward to reading more from the author.

This fantasy will have you step back in time. Carter does an excellent job of weaving the setting around you, enveloping you in the story completely. I love how vivid the imagery is, and how real the characters feel, even though they exist in another place and time. The plot moves along at a good pace, and has enough twists that you can never really feel like you know exactly where it's going. This was a great start to a new series, and I'm excited to see where it goes next.
