Description
Trying to stay cheerful about her new school's Christmas exchange, DeeDee's winter holiday mounts in distress when first, her parents move into an oh-so tiny dollhouse. Then, DeeDee feels betrayed by a cunning little girl who lies about the present with DeeDee's name on it. Did Evelyn steal it?
Added to this, dad explains that their new house is too small to set up a holiday tree. She gets ANGRY. In DeeDee's spiral of disappointments, all is not lost. Surprises are in store when accidents happen! Find out, what all the buzz is about in this lovely old-fashioned Christmas tale remake! For pre-school through Kindergarten, this book is a teaching opportunity as a read-to-me picture book.
For first grade and second graders, it is an early reader with plush contemporary, splashy images.
Question: Does God hear me? Does God see me? Will God do anything for me? Theme: I shall not want is a promise. When kids turn to the Lord with their anger and distress, He is faithful.
Advance Praise
I found this to be a really sweet story about what it feels like to be hurt by someone and shows that God cares about the little things in our lives. - Tilly
Fabulous Christmas book! Great for all ages! Like any child, DeeDee sees moving into a smaller house as an adventure. Other losses (and benefits) do affect her deeply. - Verified Purchaser
The story is beautifully depicted by Sam Wade. Ms. Dunham's tale is poetic and real regarding anyone's feelings of being tricked about the joys of Christmas or being forgotten in a gift exchange. I also love the images of nurturing from DeeDee's teacher, her mom, and her dad. We each play a necessary role, don't we? - Barking Lark
This storybook about a family adjusting to some difficulties in life, tenderly shows the power of gratitude in all situations. This story celebrates the resilient spirit in all of us. I own it in both the English and Thai versions - Kathy Joy
