Description
Just show up, that's all. Show up for me and I'll show up for you. Show up. Everything else is added detail to the canvas. Luxury. You're the painting. And I want to blend in with your colours. Your oils, your textures. Your stains and your dyes,
Our love will transcend space and time, and they'll call us a masterpiece,
You're the painting. The original,
And all I ever wanted was you.
The Painting - N.E. Teeuw
Just one of the beautiful pieces of prose that feature in this glorious publication. A beautiful book of love, loss, sensuality, femininity, self-discovery and ultimately self-love. A book of prose, poems and short stories, written with grace and elegance. With an honest and vulnerable storytelling sense and a powerful and heartfelt voice this book is one that you will go back to many times. N.E. Teeuw delivers a truely unique perspective written in the timeless art of prose.
Advance Praise
"Every so often you come across an artist that makes you sit up, groan and wonder what you've been doing with your life. And when those people go it alone, eschewing the big corporations to have their own say over their works, it is even more impressive....
I loved this collection.
As the title says, it is a book of love poetry. But it is not all ""I love you"" sort of musings – there are poems of heart-break, of breaking up, of getting over a love, of being unsure, of being one of a pair… every facet of the love process is there in writing. It is at times stark, at times beautiful, at times pained, at times enraptured. But, most importantly, it is so well-written - (Steven G - Weekend Notes
It reminds me of a classy edition of Shakespeare's sonnets in size and tone. The poetry leans towards prose, almost a stream of consciousness captured in little bubbles of experiences, feelings, textures and thoughts. No rhymey-rhymey lovesick sugar syrup here, her writing succinctly captures both the bitter and the sweet. I can't wait to dip into this again, and eagerly awaiting her next work - (Suzy - Goodreads)
I received this book today and thought I would pick it up and read a few poems and I've sat here for an hour and completely devoured it!
This book of poetry really takes you on a rollercoaster of emotions and it feels so personal, almost like your reading a diary. It is so raw, filled with hope, love and loss and it is so relatable. I found that I couldn't stop reading, I had to keep going to see how it all ended. This book is visually beautiful, the cover and the artwork inside makes it one of the most aesthetic poetry books I own - (Kelly - Goodreads)"
