I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. This is an excellent birdwatching book for kids. Lots of information about birds, birdwatching tools and other resources.

A nice introduction to birds and birding for kids. The projects and ideas for further resources were especially nice.

As the mom of a bird lover, I was excited to review Birding Adventures for Kids. It is so full of information that you and your child will be bird experts!

The first section documents common birds across North America. Each bird includes what they look like, describes their sounds, what they eat and most have a map of where they live. The next section has many ideas outdoor bird fun. It suggests games, crafts, and how to make the most of your bird walks. The final section is all about additional bird discovery from indoors. As I live in Washington State, where it rains for months at a time, having some indoor activities is welcome.

The book looks like it has many pictures, but unfortunately my eBook copy only had gray squares for pictures. Bummer.

I will definitely check out this book after publication. I really enjoyed it!

This is a fun and well illustrated book to teach kids about birds that provides loads of information and some fun projects and activities. It starts with profiles of 25 common North American birds like doves, woodpeckers, bluebirds, turkeys and vultures. Each one has a colorful photograph, a map showing its range (migratory, breeding and year-round) and information about diet, etc. I noticed that the ranges are not always accurate for where we live (SW Minnesota), with some birds showing up as not in our range when they are common birds for us. I imagine climate change is altering bird ranges but I didn't realize the information was this different already. We are a birding family and see many birds that the book says are not in our area, such as eagles (it says we only have them during non-breeding season but we see them year-round) and turkey vultures (which it says are never in our area but are very prolific here in warmer months).

After that section, there are sections of activities (such as take a bird walk, watch them with binoculars and make an easy birdbath) with detailed tips and instructions, games like the migration game and a bird song game, information on what plants to plant for birds, and so on. Some of these would be great for nature programs or nature study units.

The next chapter features birding activities for inside -- bird journaling, educational games, information about topics related to birds, bird-related activities, plans for making bird shelves and baskets for nesting for different species, a comparison activity for feeding various feeds to monitor which ones are preferred by whom, a look at what beaks are for what kinds of foods, etc. The book ends with more ways that kids can help birds (keep cats inside, pick up trash, etc.).

The book will be a great primer for birds and has lots of good information. It's filled with bright, colorful photos that add to the appeal. Recommended.

I read a temporary digital ARC of this book for the purpose of review.

What a fantastic book about birding that is geared towards kids, but I learned so much is this book as well!

This book does a great job of teaching about various ways that you can work on identifying the birds that you see around you. It describes the sounds that various birds make. It has fantastic photography to show off the identifying marks of North American birds. Did you see a bird eating sometime specific, this book goes into that as well.

And to make your bird hikes even better there are crafts and games to make things interesting, and I think more memorable.

I have already purchased this book to add it to my birding library. A great book to have around for people of all ages.

Excellent, inviting layout for a birding book for kids. Lots of excellent photos. Half of the book is pictures and facts about common birds kids might see and the other half is birding activities. My daughter is 8 and she is an animal and a nature lover. She absolutely loved this book.

This is a wonderful book we recommend. It has everything we need and want in such a book in one location. One reason this is such a perfect book is it is created by the National Audubon Society. It is a wonderful introduction to kids about everything in the world of birds. It is great for using while in parks, your backyard — well anywhere! You will learn about identifying birds with descriptions and where to find them too. There are also details on birdhouses and birdfeeders they will like. Readers will find some enjoyable activities, such as scavenger hunts too, which are nice. It is a book full of colorful photographs, which are amazing. The information is exactly what you want in this type of book including the detailed guide on making birdhouses, which are easy to follow and important observing tips. We love having fun activities to enjoy together and trying some new ideas to continue our adventures with birds while discovering more about them.
