Oh my gosh, can I rate this book higher than 5 stars somehow?!? After I got a copy of this book, I thought to myself, I'll keep an eye out for easy vegan substitutes and low and behold, Sam Brooks literally says at the beginning that many of the recipes are vegan! I was so excited to see this. I absolutely love bananas and I am vegan so this book is amazing. The recipes all look super delicious and easy to follow and I don't recall seeing any super odd ingredients or anything. I'm so excited to go back through and decide what to make first 🤗 ☺

A bright and versatile cookbook with all sorts of banana related recipes, presented through clear and concise recipes with some great photography accompanying each dish.

When I think of bananas the first two things that come to my mind are muffins and smoothies. I love bananas, I will eat them as a snack every now and then (not too often because they are high in natural sugars) and I love to make baked goods with them. My whole family loves smoothies so we use them a lot in smoothies as well. The Banana Cookbook gave me so many more ideas I wouldn't have thought of for sweet yet healthier than sugar filled desserts and baked goods. I would literally eat anything in this book and look forward to trying all of the recipes.

I always appreciate a cookbook with a simple, straightforward layout and design. I also gravitate towards cookbooks that offer photographs of the recipes (so I can see if my results are at least close to the original) -- and The Banana Cookbook has a photograph for each and every recipe! I can't wait to try some of these!

It's a pandemic! And we have a bunch of bananas! What to do? Find banana recipes.

This little cookbook is loaded with ONLY banana recipes. Perfect for my scenario! There's everything from smoothies, to cakes, pies, cookies...and more. There are a lot of vegan and gluten free recipes in this book. We are neither a vegan or a gluten free household so we didn't have a few of the ingredients on hand for some of the recipes. (thanks, pandemic!) Each recipe is accompanied by a color photo and the recipes are clearly written and easy to follow. I've bookmarked several recipes to try out with my kids, who luckily are banana-fans.

Everyone who loves bananas should definitely own The Banana Cookbook: 50 Simple and Delicious Recipes, by Sam Brooks. Of course most of us buy bananas, and before eating them all, find that they are overripe. This cookbook has recipes for using those old bananas. However, it also includes recipes using bananas before they are overripe and instead of fats and dairy. There is a good variety of recipes, including breads, muffins, crepes, desserts, pies, cakes, and ice creams. Brooks has included something for every banana aficionado.

Included in this cookbook are the regular banana recipes that most of us make anyway at home: banana bread (a good recipe, in fact), Oaty Banana Muffins, and Chocolate and Banana French Toast. But there are also unique banana recipes, like Banana Chips, Banana Millionaire’s Shortbread, as well as the famous UK dessert, Banoffee Pie. The Gooey Chocolate Brownies are to die for, and definitely worth taking the time to make. Some of the recipes are fairly easy, and the instructions are easy to follow. There is even a one-ingredient banana ice cream that is a no-brainer.

One of the best parts about this cookbook is that it has beautiful photographs of almost all of the recipes, making it difficult to choose which recipe to make next. One recipe that will be in everyone’s queue is the Banana Upside Down Cake; it is mouthwatering. There are also batter dipped deep fried bananas, as well as frozen banana pops, which will appeal to everyone, especially children.

If you love bananas, and if you want to cook with them, then this cookbook is for you.

Special thanks to NetGalley for supplying a review copy of this book.

Bananas are one of my most favourite fruits, so I was excited to read this book. I liked the simplistic layout and I also liked that there is a photo to accompany each recipe. There is a generous selection of different recipes but I do wish there had been at least a few more savoury dishes included.

My family loves bananas and I always try to find new ways to integrate them in our meals. I found some really interesting flavor combinations for smoothies that I can’t wait to try. The Banana Cookbook also gave me some new ideas for healthy baked goods. All the recipes sound delicious and it’s great that most of the recipes consist of ingredients that I have at home already.
The best part about this book for me was that many of the recipes are vegan – so I can enjoy those treats as well!

Thank you NetGalley for the eARC of The Banana Cookbook! Overall, this is a fun read and has some very yummy-looking recipes! There is a photograph to accompany every recipe, which I very much appreciate as a consumer (pun-intended). The colors and graphics used throughout the book are simple, but with bright colors that give the sense of fun that the author intended! The recipe descriptions and instructions are simple and straightforward, and I appreciate the many vegan and gluten free options within these pages. While the tone of this book is simplicity, I did find that I was a tad disappointed with the recipes offered. Some seemed to be repetitive and gave me the sense that the author was reaching for more ideas than can truly be enumerated by one ingredient. Additionally, one of the opening photographs pictured some bananas with grill marks on them, but there were no recipes included in the book for grilled bananas. Neither were there any recipes that pushed the boundaries of the humble banana into the savory realm. I would have enjoyed seeing some creative entrees with bananas as a featured ingredient. I did very much enjoy this cookbook and the ideas that it engendered for the many uses of banana. I would definitely qualify this as a wonderful gift book to give to friends who are particularly fond of this beloved fruit.

If you're looking at this book, you are already interested in banana based recipes. All 50 look delicious. There are many that are vegan or gluten free. Every recipe has a photo, but there are no nutritional breakdowns (if that matters to you). There are cupcake and muffin recipes, desserts, shakes, and more.

Absolutely love it!
Yes, you need to like banana, otherwise this may not be for you, but otherwise, it's great.
The recipes are relatively easy and most ingredients are fairly well-known and accessible.
Some things may be self-explanatory, such as banana chips, but otherwise there is a great range of recipes (savoury, obviously) and they range from breakfast to treats and cakes and drinks.

Sooo yummy!

Things I like about this book:
- Recipes with bananas. And I love bananas!
- All the recipes come with a photo of the dish. I love this, as I can choose the recipe I crave the most looking at the photographs.
- The recipes range from 1 or 2 services to 10 services, so you can choose if you want a smaller or larger dish.
- Most of the recipes can be made with every day ingredients and it 15 to 20 minutes.

100% recommended!

I enjoyed reading this and can't wait to try a few of these recipes (if I remember to do so). Nice for those who want a fruit centered cookbook or really like bananas.

This is the first cookbook I have ever reviewed, and I am honestly say it won't be my last on as it is a combination of reading and cooking/baking. Over the weekend, I tried a couple of recipes and I loved every second of following and testing the outcome. One thing I can say is that it involves simple ingredients, and easy steps to follow for any person that wants to try new dishes. I am going to continue choosing other recipes, as there is such a huge variety that applies to many food moods.

Andrews McMeel Publishing and NetGalley provided me with an electronic copy of The Banana Cookbook: 50 Simple and Delicious Recipes. I voluntarily chose to review this cookbook and my opinion is freely given.

The cookbook starts out with a brief introduction, followed by a section on kitchen essentials, and one on conversions and measurements. As the author ushers in the recipe sections, I was struck by the brightly colored pages and the photographs of the finished dishes. Each recipe is accompanied by a visual, which is a major plus. This cookbook shows the banana as the star of many dishes, from breakfast through dessert. Below is a list of the different recipe sections, with some of my favorites.

Breakfast Bites and Morning Pick-Me-Ups: Fluffy Banana and Walnut Pancakes; Chocolate and Banana Smoothie Bowl; Nutty Banana Balls

Cupcakes and Muffins: Banana and Chocolate Chip Muffins; Vegan Chocolate Cupcakes; Gooey Chocolate Brownies

Smoothies and Shakes: Granola-Topped Berry Smoothie; Peanut Butter and Banana Milkshake

Sweet Treats: Banana and Cinnamon Rolls; Banana and Cherry Jam Crepes

Frozen Sweets: Miracle Banana Ice Cream; Chocolate Fudge Popsicles

Delicious Desserts: Frosted Banana Cake; No-Bake Peanut Butter Cheesecake; No-Bake Strawberry and Banana Mini Cheesecakes

Overall, The Banana Cookbook does accomplish its mission, to show off the banana in the best possible light. For those looking to incorporate more fruit into their daily diets, this cookbook will do a good job of accomplishing that goal.

Oh to have a cookbook that shows a photograph of the food. I always have surplus bananas and every recipe is tempting me. Just flick through then look in your cupboard for the ingredients + bananas. Probably the most useful and usable recipe book I have seen in a while.

I  received a free digital copy of this book from Netgalley for an honest review.

I was excited to stumble across this banana cookbook. I'd have to rearrange some of these recipes due to a nut allergy. That's not a problem for most of them.

Two recipes of importance - Chocolate and banana french toast, and Mint chocolate chip ice cream. I can't wait to try these!

I have many, many cookbooks that contain one or two recipes that utilize this popular hand fruit. As the most popular fresh snack, we also know there is no way to predict the exact number of bananas that our family will eat so end up with the lone banana that must be used quickly. This book is a banana lover's treasure! With 50 recipes and many more ideas, I can add this great source of vitamins and minerals to my family's diet and be happy that they love them! I've now tried 20 of the recipes and am working my way through the rest. Add this book to your shelf and you will not be sorry.

Over my experience of cooking and baking, I've found banana to be such a versatile fruit. This cookbook shows all the ways we can use bananas in our recipes. I loved looking through the ingredients and seeing how the banana is used to enhance or sweeten the desserts. After reading the book, I have the urge to grab one to eat! Absolutely great compilation of recipes that really show the usefulness of a banana!

I love everything banana, so this cookbook screamed my name!

I love the simplicity of the book, it makes the dishes really stand out. I also love that there is a big variety between very simple recipes and more complicated ones, from oats to full-on cakes.

I will definitely use these recipes a lot. To be recommended!

I loved this sweet cookbook! I find myself reaching for bananas in all of my baking, so a whole cookbook dedicated to bananas was like a gift. I tried the banana ice cream and it blew my mind—so simple, all you need is a food processor and some bananas and you have a sweet treat that will fool your children into thinking they’re getting the real deal. Healthy short cuts are incredible! The only thing I would change about this book is a lack of nutritional information paired with the recipes.

Ironically (or not) this seems like the perfect book for quarantine seeing as there's a current banana bread craze. This cookbook features 50 simple recipes that incorporate bananas to some extent from classic banana bread and banoffee pie to banana matcha cupcakes and banana-based ice cream. Each recipe is accompanied by a stock photo and while some of the treats looked delicious, most of the recipes were nothing special and could easily be found online or on Pintrest and it felt a bit repetitious at times as some of the recipes seemed like a slight variation of another one. Not the most unique or original cookbook, but a good place to start for beginning chefs and those minions from Despicable Me.

I always have bananas in my fruit bowl, but have never really given it much thought in using them other than making smoothies or as a topping on custard when the grandchildren visit. So many wonderful recipes that i'm eager to make and must remember to buy extra bananas when i'm next shopping. I recently started making my own ice cream and shall be making plenty for the freezer, along with the Chocolate Fudge Popsicles for when the grandchildren are here. Recommended.

My thanks to Netgalley and the Publishers for my copy. This is my honest review, which i have voluntarily given.

This book is a must-have in every kitchen y'all. I found myself scribbling on recipe cards last night and spent the whole day trying out some of the recipes for brunch and I am highly impressed. Loved it. The recipes are easy to follow and they are yummy (pictures are well taken and thus go a long way in making one fall in love with the book)

I like the simplicity of design in this cookbook and even the cover – being just yellow.

In this book, you will find a lot of different, yummy looking recipes. I like breakfasts with bananas – I often eat something similar to Nutty Banana muesli. The frozen sweets look great. I prepare similar icecream – but I have to try these recipes, too.

I would recommend this to everyone who likes bananas and would like to know some creative ways to prepare them.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this! All opinions are my own.

If you're looking for a cookbook to help you use up those ripening bananas or bananas you froze months ago and need to use, this books is perfect! The recipes not only sound delicious, but look amazing too with their accompanying photos. I appreciated the inclusion of vegan and gluten-free recipes as well. The recipes seem very basic, which is great for when you need to make something quick and are not too skilled in the kitchen, However, I think it may be too simple. There wasn't a recipe that made me think 'I NEED to make this' and there wasn't anything that I've never seen before. This would be a great gift for someone who loved bananas though!

A beautiful collection of delicious and healthy snacks, breakfasts, drinks and deserts. Can’t want to try some of these, especially the ice creams! Also, the pictures are lovely.

This book is amazing!! I am ALWAYS looking for what to do with leftover bananas. This is so perfect. The pictures are well done as well. There are so many great options. I can't wait to try out so more of the recipes. THANK YOU!

I wish I could've read and reviewed this book the right way, but for some reason the book wouldn't load for me at all. With that said, this book seems like such a necessarily smart book to read, so I'll just have to find another way!

EDIT:

I actually figured out how to get it to work and skimmed through the whole book and everything seemed so delicious and I got hungry! So, I tried the Banana Iced Coffee, and It was really good! I would've never thought to try my coffee this way, and I'm glad I did, It was delicious! I will also be making the banana bread later because it seems quick and easy. I'll have to buy the physical copy so I can keep this little handy book in the kitchen with my other cookbooks!

Thanks to Andrew McNeel Publishing and Netgalley for the Digital ARC.

I found this to be a very interesting cookbook with a lot of intriguing recipes. I had not thought of the banana as such a multi-tasking fruit in the baking world. Usually I only think of eating them raw, as some form of bread, or ice cream and it was fascinating to find all of these new recipes and uses for bananas. I am definitely going to give some of these recipes a good.
I will say the interior design and layout of the book is good but I think the cover leaves much to be desired. And on a personal note I think if you are going to use self-rising flour as an ingredient that at some point you should include a handy substitution/conversion guide if you do not purchase that easily made product.

Oh my goodness, these recipes look delicious! My mouth is watering and even though I just ate I am craving some yummy bananas now. The Banana Cookbook has gorgeous photos and some super tasty treats. I love the variety. I never realized a banana could be so versatile and used in so many delectable ways. I can't wait to try out most of these recipes. I will be making the banana iced coffee asap!

I LOVE THIS RECIPE BOOK! For too long I have unappreciated bananas. They were always used for typical banana breads or for a fruit smoothie. For too long, their potential went unrealized. But, this wonderful book helped me realize the possibilities of banana as both a vegan option and replacement, to a new ingredient to explore in my cooking! I loved how Sam combined tried and true banana classics with new eclectic recipes! I think my favorite recipes was the Banana Millionaire’s Shortbread. It was soooo good and my whole family enjoyed it. Overall, this is a great book for new and experienced bakers and chefs to explore new and classic banana recipes.

I have been in need of this book for some time. Sick of throwing away overripe bananas I now have array of recipes I can use to transform them into delicious desserts.

This book is simple in its format with a minimal list of ingredients and easy to follow instructions.

So far I have only made the Banoffee Millionaires Shortbread but it was very nice indeed. I cant wait to try out some of the other recipes,

A wonderful cookbook for those of us that need new ideas for ways to use up our bananas! I liked the amount of images and the recipes are easy to follow along. My only comment really is that some of the recipes did feel repetitive and could have been combined!
Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for providing me with an arc for an honest review!

I really liked this recipe book! I am a banana lover and having this guide to follow easy and delicious recipes was really exciting. I believe this book is a must when you run out of ideas when you want to cook something with bananas, the only drawback it's that is american cuisine, and the author often used certain ingredients that are not available in my contry, so I had to get really creative with that.

Disclaimer I received a copy of this book via NetGalley.

The premise of a cookbook all based around bananas as the main ingredient had the potential to be jokey. I still think it could a great gift for someone who loves bananas. Or always has the problem of over ripe bananas.
The recipes are solid, mostly easy and different. I had never thought of combining matcha and banana for a muffin. Sure some flavors combos are tried and true but I like the idea of using the bananas in places as a natural substitute for adding sugar.

I loved all the ideas for baking and trying out the recipes. The fact that so many of them are vegan is great! Even Gluten-free recipes have been included. The instructions are easy to follow and the couple of recipes I have tried have worked out great. The book is divided into different sections: e.g. cupcakes and muffins, desserts, frozen treats, smoothies, etc which makes finding a suitable recipe so much easier!

The Banana Cookbook: 50 Simple and Delicious Recipes is a recipe collection full of all things banana. Due out 16th June 2020 from Andrews McMeel, it's 128 pages and will be available in hardcover and ebook formats.

This is an odd compilation. The recipes themselves are fine and include everything from standards (banana bread) to slightly more exotic fare (chocolate and banana French toast). There's a pictorial recipe index included at the back of the book for easily finding desired recipes.

The book has a nice, logical layout. The introductory chapter covers the basics of tools and equpment. The recipes are arranged thematically: breakfast bites, cupcakes and muffins, smoothies, sweet treats, frozen sweets, and desserts.

Each of the recipes includes an introductory description, ingredients listed in a bullet point sidebar (in a really odd mix of metric and US measurements), step by step instructions, there is no nutritional info provided although the relevant recipes are marked as vegan friendly and gluten free. The dishes are photographed, however, the book credits are all shutterstock stock photos. The photos provided are high quality and clear. It's not clear if the recipes were developed to match the photos (some are quite specific) or if the recipes and photos were licensed for the book.

The recipe ingredients themselves are easily sourced and will be available at most well stocked grocery stores. There are a very few ingredients which might be a little more difficult to source, but definitely nothing that is 'way out there'.

Four stars

Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.

A really great way to eat banana sweet. Easy, tasteful and amazing recipes with banana. I highly recommend it

I like this banana cookbook, because it features common ingredients that you most likely will have in your cupboard. There are nice pictures of each recipe. I like being able to see what the finished product should look like. My all time favorite is the chocolate and banana recipe. This recipe is under 100 calories. I make this all the time, and i use more ice to make it thicker. This cookbook is a must for people who eat bananas, and are looking for new things to try. There is a section for breakfast items, smoothies, sweet treats, etc. Off to the side is a list of ingredients, and instructions are in the middle of page. Each recipe only takes up one page.

This was such a fun cookbook based on recipes with banana as the star ingredient! I look forward to making the No-Bake Peanut Butter Cheesecake and Pan-Fried Bananas with Salted Caramel Sauce.

Cute and trendy novelty cookbook with welcoming presentation. Recipes range from classic desserts to avant garde savoury recipes involving hints of banana. Good for what it is.

A nice selection of easy to make recipes. I do wish there was more variety, and perhaps more unique recipes. Bananas are always a good treat and this book highlights them in many sweet treats!

The Banana Cookbook is filled with simple and easy-to-follow recipes featuring banana's. It has a bright fun bright design and plenty of pictures. The recipes are great for beginners and have smaller portioning in the recipes if you don't want to make a ton. The dessert recipes are simply delicious and I was pleasantly surprised at how many things you can do with bananas.

Many of the recipes do include nuts so anyone with an allergy would need to leave those out. However, the recipes are not complicated and don't need exotic hard to find ingredients so if you love bananas this is a great choice.

I received this book from NetGalley for an honest review.
