Description

An illustrated journal for feminists looking to raise their consciousness and strengthen their well-being in a positive, inclusive, and radical way.

Fifty Feminist Mantras began as a weekly blog post and blossomed into a year-long project with the purpose of helping readers embrace feminism and themselves as feminists. Inside are fifty mantras—memorable phrases or words—arranged by week and season. Each mantra is paired with guided reflections and writing prompts, along with journal pages for readers to fill.

Sample mantras:

Grow Soft:
As we consider soft power, I invite you to experiment with growing softer. How might this make you more powerful?

Enact Your Emotions:
Which of your emotions lead you toward other people and into action with them? (Does being angry rile you up the most? Being hurt? Falling in love? Feeling scammed?) How you can express those emotions with purpose?

An illustrated journal for feminists looking to raise their consciousness and strengthen their well-being in a positive, inclusive, and radical way.

Thought-provoking and powerful - not only the mantras (most of which were "feminist," but a few of which were more like "self-help," although that's okay too), but also the questions, journal prompts and activity ideas. Everyone - not just women - would benefit from reading and thinking through this little book.

This book gives us the opportunity to do some kind of reflection on ourselves. With the main focus on feminism, the author brings us a practical notebook, where we can write, reflect and above all learn to discover more about ourselves. It is a kind of book that we should take some time to read, I on the one hand read it more superficially in order to share my point of view and opinion regarding the subject addressed in the book.

I particularly liked the fact that the author divides the topics for reflection by seasons, depending on each season we have certain topics to explore more deeply. It was an innovation for me, at least in this kind of book I had never seen such an innovative division. In addition, all the issues raised in the book are quite pertinent. I myself found myself taking notes, saving some reflections to later reflect on them with some more time. Besides that, the author knows how to transmit clearly what she really wants to pass on to the reader.

Being this book about feminism, of course there could be no lack of great references. It is one of those books that help us to understand a little more about ourselves, that in a way help to alleviate a little the confusion of thoughts and ideas that is inside us.

A practical book to enjoy for at least a year. One of those books that has teachings to give and sell. Excellent to make you know more about feminism and what it really is to be a feminist.

I really like this. The prompts are well thought out and detailed. This is obviously something I would need to buy and I think it could help me get back into writing.

This is a really neat book. It is interactive and has space for you to write in it and answer prompts and questions. I really enjoyed looking through the mantras and quotes that Amelia included in the book.

This was a journal and a thought provoking one at that. I loved the mantras, the prompts, and the cute accompanying graphics. This was a book that gave you pause and allowed you to dig deep into your inner thoughts and feelings. Definitely recommend this one for anyone looking to get into journaling, self-reflection, and feminism.

I really want to purchase this now!!

It’s more of a workbook, which I didn’t get the vibe of when I requested it. But I’m happy that I did! I loved the cover, the mantras and the guided journaling/mantra writing was genuinely helpful.

Thank you NetGalley for the chance to review it before it’s publication.

I cannot wait to have a physical copy of this journal in my hands! Reading through all of the prompts made me excited to start this journey at the end of the year of self reflection, meditation, and finding my feminine power. This journal is for EVERY woman. There are mantras and prompts that will be beneficial to us all as we move into a new year of becoming our best selves. This journal is evidence that fighting the patriarchy and capitalism is not just an external battle, but an internal one as well. We've grown up in a society that tells us we are less than and in order to combat that system, we need to combat the internalized messages we have held onto. This journal will be a great tool for that work and I can't wait to buy copies for all of the powerful women in my life!

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for granting me access to this eARC!

Quick book with inspirational and beautiful words of wisdom and quotes. Basically I cannot wait until this book goes on the market I need it in my life and the only reason I am disappointed is that I cannot fill it with all the journal prompts and ideas NOW and I have to wait. This books is AMAZING. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Thanks to Andrews McMeel Publishing for making this book available to me via #Netgalley
This book was short but powerful. Containing 50 feminist mantras that fall within different seasons, they are words of affirmation that you can say every day that reminds you of the importance of life and understanding and reflection of the past.
The mantra might be keywords or phrases that are followed by a detailed explanation, guided prompts, and writing lines to help you plan and achieve your predetermined goals. It helps you to let go of past hurt and move on with the understanding of the root of such hurt. This reminds me of a line in the book "Building strength is not imagining your ideal self and then judging yourself for not being there. Rather, building strength happens bit by bit over time until suddenly you've become strong, perhaps without noticing"
Feeling sad or depressed about a stage in your life isn't going to help you move on from there, neither is it going to help you progress to where you want to be but (another line from the book) "waiting isn't static or stagnant. Rather, waiting provides a space for stretching and reflecting"
Other mantras I really loved include "Birth" "Amplify" "Forgive" "Believe in Abundance"
A line that I remember clearly "Forgiveness is a fickle endeavor" this reminds me of a conversation had before about how "to forgive" is one of the hardest things a person can do.
Really enjoyed reading this book, hoping to get one for myself upon release to fill in daily prompts. I think it would be interesting to see how I change or develop using these mantras
I hope you check this book out!

Oh, how I wish I had this book in print! The power! The moments and things to reflect upon!
Feminism is exhausting- rather, let me put it this way, being a human being and female is exhausting. We fight battles unknown to us- and I love how this book also focuses on our shadow side/our darkness...and asks us to reflect on these as well because they are our story as well.

What's great is the uniqueness of the sections of this book, divided into seasons, each season comes with areas of growth and mantras and what I learned is that this book is best read with a pen and journal.
It's also best enjoyed when you are in your own space, meditating on your life's journey.

Thanks Netgalley for the eARC, like I stated earlier this book is surely a win if bought and read in print- a digital copy takes away from the ability to personalize it. I'd definitely recommend this as a gift to all women, consider it a care-package.

This is a workbook, do yourself a favor and get a physical copy and/or a notebook dedicated to doing the work. Beautifully illustrated this is a great mindfulness guide with a feminist twist.

I read the whole thing through once a can not wait to work on it through out the year as tasks are broken down into seasons.

Recommended for anyone who wants to work on themselves in a feminist way.
