Dead Dudes

This is a really fun and funny book. The ghost bros’ TV show shows a humorous side of reality TV and the personalities of the three bros were well written. They each had their own reasons for working on the show which created an interesting group dynamic as they tried to accomplish their goals sometimes at the expense of their bros.

The horror aspect was a good mix creepy but not too serious. The humorous tone did at times interfere with some of the horror aspects; the characters were pretty flippant at times about the gory death around them. Readers looking for something really terrifying may be disappointed, though may also be a bit too gory and violent for readers at the younger end of YA. The artwork was well done and enhanced the creepy setting. The visual representation of the ghost powers was particularly interesting and overall the artwork fit the tone of the book well.

It's a graphic novel about ghost hunters who die and come back as ghosts themselves. The concept itself sounds awesome and should be enough to convince many to check this book out.

Dude, that was fun!

At first, I was afraid that the dudes are going to be hipermasculine and boring, but each had his own trait--one had ambition, one was trying to make a name for himself, and the last was full of anxiety and unable to stop his friends.

The whole theme of being "dudes" and "bros" was at no point taken seriously and that was a part of the joke. Characters called each other dudes even when it was completely uncalled-for, giving a very light-hearted tone to the book. The story was just as lighthearted.

Whenever I read graphic novels, the style of illustrations plays an important role in whether or not I'll be able to follow the story and enjoy it. Here, it was quite simple and clear. Despite the subject matter, there was not a lot of gore, and even if there was some blood depicted, it was difficult to take it seriously because of the style.

It was a great stand-alone graphic novel.

A place that holds a horrific past and hopefully for the Ghost Bros a load of spectral beings that they can film to boost their ratings. They rock up with all the gear they could possibly need and get their producer to lock them in, lets just say, not only do they get their footage, they also get a one way ticket to the after life.

Being dead isn’t the worst part, they are sharing it with bloodthirsty inmates, a psycho nurse and crazy warden. It goes from bad to worse when a year later their deadly rivals the Parawarriors turn up ready to steal their glory, the Ghost Bros are not going to take it lying down. They are going to use their new ghostly skills to stick it to the Parawarriors and hopefully prevent the bloodthirsty ghosts from escaping in the process.

Dead Dudes is definitely a fun, don’t take too seriously read. It’s a colourful book and flows nicely, the horror is subtle so don’t worry you will get sleep after reading it. The only thing that annoyed me about it was the bleep out swearing, there was too much of it, just swear already - that’s just me though I have a mouth like a sailor!

I love this graphic novel! The illustrations, the attitude, the nods to all the paranormal TV shows... From top to bottom, Dead Dudes is fantastic. A must-read for anyone who spent time watching TV deciding if a moving dot on screen was a dust mote or a floating orb.

Dead Dudes delivers on its description and curiosity-provoking title. It’s a fun book, eye-catching, and full of action and humor. Ideal for middle grades readers but also enjoyable for other age groups. The work of Ben Sears is always worth a look.

This was so much FUN! I love ghost hunter shows and I really enjoyed this concept. A great read to get you in the mood for spooky season. The art was nice and I liked how the story flew. For a book called "Dead Dudes" I should've been prepared for how many times the word "Dude" would be used. This was really just a fun and quick read.

Based on the synopsis of this one, I was expecting a graphic novel version of "Grave Encounters," but the twist right at the beginning knocked me off my feet, and I had no idea what was coming next. The story is more humorous than horrific, and the gore is kept to a minimum. The artwork seems a little simplistic compared with many graphics, but I thought it worked well with the tone of the book.

This was a fun read that should be perfect for a chilly October evening. On the whole, I thought it was a blast.

Oh, there are no words for just how much I loved this comic! I admit I am one of the believers in ghosts and I spent many a night watching Ghost Hunters, Ghost Adventures, heck, any ghost-related show! This is all of those and then some.

The Ghost Bros go to prove spirits are real and get killed by them and become ghosts themselves. On the 1st Anniversary of their deaths, their cable channel does a “live ghost hunting” show of the place they died. Now the Ghost bros must save their hated competitors while still trying to make the world see Ghost are real.

This was pure genius. Sebela and Sears did an amazing job on the story and the artwork. I want more Ghost Bros! Make it a multi-series, make it an animated TV show!

You have got to read this if you are just a little bit comic nerd and ghost nerd.

Dead Dudes is a huge amount of fun! Getting the right balance between horror and humour is never easy, but Christopher Sebela gets it spot on. The story moves forward at a cracking pace and has a great collection of evil villains. The relationship between the three brothers (all ghosts), the main characters of the book, is excellently portrayed, with each of them having their own distinct personality and reason for wanting to be a ghost hunter. Because the story is quite gory in places, I'd be reluctant to recommend it for MG readers, but it is an excellent YA read. I can see there being several sequels to this book in the future as there are numerous ways that the main concept could be developed further. Definitely recommended.
