Moving and down to earth. Not overly preachy. I would recommend.

A very good collection of Christmas devotions. Well written. I received an advance ebook from the publisher and Netgalley and this is my unbiased review.

It isn't Christmas time but I liked reading it. I formative and well written. It is a short novella. And read it in one sitting. Also it's such a different genre than what I am used to.
Thank you NetGalley.

God hears her, Joyful Christmas is a twice a day devotional that starts with a bible verse and then shares a personal Christmas experience and or thoughts.
This isn’t anything to deep but rather something encouraging and thought provoking. I know that sometimes I just need a little break from the secular holidays. And that’s what this was for me.
I highly recommend it if you like short daily devotionals.
Thanks to Our Daily Bread Publishing via Netgalley.

My favorite holiday has always been Christmas, So When I found this devotional based on the learnings We can get about the birth of Jesus, It was definitely A match! I loved that clear, touching and warm way the writers brought to Our understanding about Jesus coming to the world in ou day by day expriences. I Loved a Lot and Hope that everyone who reading may be surrounded by the light of the world and feel the truly joy of the season through theses pages.

A thoughtfully written inspirational advent-focused collection. An easy read and perfect way to start and end each day. Written by women, for women. A perfect gift to tuck into a Christmas stocking.

December will be here in a few months. For those with a spiritual/Christian point of view, this collection written by women may well be welcome and enjoyed. There is a devotional for the morning and evening of every day in December. Some are anecdotes, all have a connection to Jesus and the season. If this appeals, take a few minutes each day to calm your spirits.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher. All opinions are my own.

This book is a good mix of a little bit of current stories with bible verses to go with the stories. I liked how short each day is, so you can easily add it to your morning or evening bible study/ time. A great countdown through Advent for the Christmas season with what the season truly is about, and not just the gifts under the tree. This would be a great book for an early Christmas exchange or if you are looking for a good gift that will last through out the years. I can see myself easily coming back to this year after year and growing from it.

3.5 stars

This is and encouraging devotional that's geared toward the upcoming holiday season. Each reading has a Bible verse and a person story from the author. Some give the reader something to ponder for the holidays. It's a quick read, and fans of devotionals will likely enjoy this one.

I read the first two entries. I will wait to finish this in December. Such a busy, happy, sad month. This seems to be something to ground me. Something to remind me of what Christmas means.
Thank you Netgalley.

This book is wonderful! I encourage those who love devotionals to add this to their collection and I know it will be pulled out yearly with the Christmas Decor. I was given an advance copy but plan already on purchasing this for myself and to give! The short inspiring anecdotes remind us of what the season really is about.
Merry Christmas!

This special Advent devotion book is one you definitely will want to add to your December reading. There are short devotions for both morning and evening for 31 days, to help you stay focused on the true meaning of Christmas. I highly recommend this book.

This is a nice devotional that I'll read again at Christmastime. The selections are short and well done - a great way to celebrate the days leading up to Christmas.

What a treat to discover God Hears Her, A Joyful Christmas (31 Morning and Evening Devotions) by Our Daily Bread which includes Anne Cetas, Elisa Morgan, Xochitl Dixon, Patricia Raybon, Lori Hatcher, and Bree Rostic. Like the monthly devotions that can be sent to you by email or on the Our Daily Bread app these Christmas devotions are timely, to the point and leave you thinking about their meaning with the verses for the rest of the day. The bonus is that there is a morning and an evening devotions. Two for each day, wonderfully written.

I highly recommend all of the God Hears Her books but especially A Joyful Christmas. This time of year when we need to have our minds on the reason of the celebration we are often extremely busy with good things. This puts your thoughts on the best great part of the season. The devotions are concise but powerful. I plan to give some early Christmas presents this year with these books.

The publisher through Net Galley provided a digital ARC. I have voluntarily decided to read and review, giving my personal opinions and thoughts.

When I was in middle school the church I attended provided Our Daily Bread devotion guides for free and I always picked up the new one. The daily devotions were kind of like Chicken Soup for the Soul vignettes with a definite tie to Scripture. But it has been years since I've even thought about those devotional guides so I was happy to pick up their new Christmas devotional for women.

I prefer my Bible studies to be more in-depth and don't necessarily need the illustrative story or object lesson. However, during the busy Christmas season, it can be difficult to find the time for deep diving into the Scriptures and these short, focused devotions can help you stay in the Word.

As this is a devotional for women, I worried that the stories would be all about mothers and wives. As I am neither, I often feel left out or can't quite relate. The first few stories did seem like they may be more for women as mothers or wives, but then we started getting more general stories.

Because I like more Bible study and less feel good story, I really liked the devotion for the morning of December 2. The focus is John 1:1-14 and we get some background on Greek philosophy so that we better understand John's words. Of course, as a reader I loved that Iceland's tradition of spending Christmas Eve reading was included later in the month - and I got some details about the custom that I didn't know. As we are going into another uncertain Christmas season (will we be able to return to the traditions and activities we enjoyed prior to the pandemic, many families are grieving the loss of loved ones, etc), I liked the idea of the "Blessings Tree" and maybe it could be a new tradition for those struggling this year.

Even with the title of God Hears Her, I believe that this could be used as a family devotional during the Christmas season.

Often when I review advance copies I don't have time to enjoy the book as it was meant to be read/used. But I wanted to read this devotional as it was meant to be read. As I'm not in the habit of doing a devotional twice daily there were a few days early on that I missed one or the other but I soon did get in the habit and it was overly burdensome to do them morning and evening. I actually think it is a great way to keep your focus on the true meaning of Christmas by starting and ending your day focused on the Joy of Christmas.

My review will be published at Girl Who Reads on Tuesday, Oct. 5 - https://www.girl-who-reads.com/2021/10/god-hears-her-joyful-christmas-31.html

This is a delightful and thoughtful devotional book with a morning AND an evening devotion for the month of December. It is filled with advent and Christmas related verses for personal spiritual growth for women and the authors are all women as well.
I will add this to my personal Christmas preparations each year.
I was given a digital advanced copy by NetGalley in exchange for my review.

Let this be your new Advent devotional. I enjoyed having a reading every morning and evening to help keep my mind and my heart focused on the Spirit of Advent. Multiple authors bring their hearts and voices together to be a blessing to yours. I recommend this for all women who want an opportunity to refocus during the holiday season. I received a complimentary copy from the publisher via NetGalley and all opinions expressed are my own, freely given.

God Hears Her, A Joyful Christmas
31 Morning and Evening Devotions
by Our Daily Bread, Anne Cetas, Elisa Morgan, Xochitl Dixon, Patricia Raybon, Lori Hatcher, Bree Rostic
Our Daily Bread Publishing
Women will cherish the insightful and heartening messages of joy for the Christmas season, written for them by female authors for The Daily Bread. The eighteen women wrote both morning and evening devotions for each day of the month of December.
The format is visually pleasing, with each entry introduced by a date, Bible verse and passage. The authors then share an engaging related story inspired by people such as grandmothers, missionaries and church friends. A short, meaningful takeaway relating to joy provides a conclusion for each.
December can be a bustle of activity and events, and this book provides gentle reminders on God's presence with us during our anticipation. Praise, prayer, rejoicing, and generosity are encouraged as we find the light of the season. Keeping this book close in December would certainly enhance the daily rituals of women seeking to stay calm and focused while preparing for and celebrating Christmas.
Thank you to Net Galley and Our Daily Bread for the advance reader's copy and opportunity to provide my honest review.

An incredible gift to give but heavens, I'd love to get this as a gift myself! What an awesome way to center yourself for the reason of the season (and everything) with these easy, short devotions. For anyone who says they don't have time, I challenge you to find fault with this book and not fall in love!

I absolutely loved God Hears Her: A Joyful Christmas by Our Daily Bread. God Hears Her: A Joyful Christmas is a 31 day morning and evening devotional. Each devotion has a Scripture Reference and a supplemental reading with a Christmas twist to go with it. This book is part of the "God Hears Her" series that Our Daily Bread has created. I used this book as part of my personal devotion time and highly recommend it. Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for the opportunity to read this book. (My review is also on Goodreads.)

I felt as though this devotional was written specifically for me. Well written, flows easily from morning to evening and day to day. A great devotional for any time of the year, honestly. Well done ladies!

A fabulous daily Christmas devotional, it has readings for both mornings and evenings. A small passage from the bible followed by thoughts from a Christian author, I have read God sees her and this is similar but Christmas based.
I have only had a brief look through because I really want to start reading this properly in December.

God Hears Her, A joyful Christmas by Our Daily Bread

As Christmas approaches, most of get that excited glow and joy that comes with Christmas. Does that joy come from the expectation of the Christmas tree and the gifts under it.? This book will remind us of the true joy of Christmas. The day God sent his Son to be born in a manger is the true joy of Christmas.

This devotional filled with passages from the Bible and short stories of how the verses relate to us now are broken down into morning and evening segments. What a great way to start and end your day.

I hope this book brings you joy that lasts a lifetime.

I was given the joy of reading this book by the publisher and NetGalley. The review is my own.

I absolutely love this book! A definite must-read for any Christin woman who wants to experience the JOY of the season of Christmas. It provides a daily morning AND evening reading that will help get your heart in the right place at Christmastime. I love that the book is in an easy-to-read format, it's beautiful (I'll be ordering a hardcover for myself), and can easily be added to another devotion that you may be doing. A wonderful Advent book! Thank you for allowing me to read and review!

This is a fantastic edition and makes me want to get the other books in this series. I really love the size of these devotions. It’s not overwhelming and it even has a one sentence summary at the end you can write down somewhere if you want to. Having a morning and a evening devotion was especially helpful as well. I think a lot of people read their morning devotion and move on and by nighttime we’ve forgotten about it. This ensures you are getting two small devotions a day which I like more than one larger one. Thank you for this and God bless!

This was a great book. Good combination of authors. A perfect book for the season. Uplifting and unique.

This advent calendar of devotionals is a great gift for Christmas. It has morning and evening devotional which is really nice. They are small, having a short story about Christmas and a lesson with them. I think this would be a great gift for a ladies church group before the holiday season.

A short and sweet yet disappointing Christmas - Advent morning and evening women’s daily devotional. This devotional is written by women for women from Our Daily Bread, to regenerate the heart, soul, mind throughout the month of December. The introduction is from a mother who was struggling financially and wanted to purchase something to give her children on Christmas Day. The ebook is linked to the appropriate page of the reading of the morning or evening. Each morning and evening gives the readers the scripture reading with a written reflection of the scriptures. I am disappointed as there’s no indication of meditation focused for reflection, no prayers or similar verses to look up to or even any reflection questions that we can reflect and ponder by ourselves or as a group or even mother-daughter.

Devotional in style, this timely book is a blessing to read with morning and evening selections. Encouraging for us all as we face this season with so much unknown in our countries. The focus is Joy. This joy that we have is Christ-centered. Highly recommend as a gift for yourself or others this year.

I thought that this was a nice devotional, and perfect for Christmas time. The morning and evening devotionals were thought provoking, I like that it encouraged me to start and end my day with Christ, and I liked that they weren’t too long. I plan on using this devotional again

A beautifully put together devotional. These are shorter, lighter devotionals. I loved the morning and night format, it was a wonderful way to bookmark my day! I wish they would have focused more on Christmas, instead of regular life, but these were a great way to keep my heart in the right place during the busy season. 3.5⭐️

Such a treat for the holiday season. A wonderful reminder of what Christmas is truly about. Heartwarming without being preachy.

A nice devotional book with readings for morning and evening during December. It was made I guess more interesting by having different women who work at Our Daily Bread (publisher) write the Devos.

I received this book from the publisher via net galley in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed this short devotional. It took maybe 3 minutes to read each passage. It focuses on the month of December only.

During the Christmas Season is a perfect time to read this, I think. It gets you focused on the true meaning of Christmas.... Jesus' Birth, instead of the commercial aspect. We all know how commercialized Christmas is now, and this helps bring you back.

I can see reading this devotional every December. I recommend it, especially if you are looking for a quick devotional every day during December.

Thanks to Netgalley, the publisher and writers for the Kindle Version of the book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Another beautiful book by Our Daily Bread. I really enjoyed the layout, the devotionals, and the focus on God's Word. This was a great book for the Advent season and would make a great gift for other Christian women. I appreciated the way that it was laid out, and the fact that it was designed to do devotions both in the morning and the evening. I liked that it was for the whole Christmas season (31 days) and I imagine the printed version is beautiful.

This was a really nice journey through Advent. The inclusion of both a morning and evening reflection was nice, although admittedly, I often chose one or the other to read. the reflections were short and simple, so they do not overwhelm the reader. A good choice for adults looking for spiritual direction during the Christmas season.

With two short reflections per day beginning December 1 and ending December 31 - 1 morning, and one evening - the women writers of Our Daily Bread provide sweet devotions for the Christmas season. Each takes a single verse, relates it to the Christmas season or the Christian walk, and focuses readers on why we celebrate at this time of year.

I loved "hearing" the different voices in this book, all proclaiming the joy of serving Jesus. I read it in a few days (I had a death in the family then was sick for two weeks, so I couldn't do it on the prescribed days.) I think it would have been a great thing to start Dec. 1 and move through it slowly and reflectively, instead. I definitely recommend putting this on the bookshelf for NEXT December!

These hope-filled Bible verses and reflections remind readers of the real meaning of Christmas. They are simple stories, but deep, and reading them each day in December is a lovely way to prepare to celebrate Christ's birthday. Unfortunately, I read them after Christmas, but I will read them in December this year!

I received this free ebook from NetGalley in return for an honest review.

Thank you to NetGalley and Our Daily Bread for allowing me the opportunity to read and review this book. All opinions are my own.

➡️From Amazon: Exchange the stressful pursuit of happiness for true joy this Christmas. Begin and end your day with one of the 31 morning and evening devotional readings from God Hears Her, A Joyful Christmas. These Advent-focused meditations will help you relax and allow God to fill your heart, mind, and soul throughout the busy month of December.

With the attractive leatherlike look, four-color interior, and ribbon marker, this timely devotional makes an excellent gift for the Advent season.

➡️My review: OK so I know it isn't Christmas anymore, but I still wanted to take the time to review the book I read over the Christmas season.
In the midst of the hustle and bustle, I posted about having gained some new perspective and being reminded what the season is all about. This was the book I was reading. Until 2021, I had never done an advent devotional, but I'm glad I did. The short Devotions and passages of Scripture really helped keep me focused on Christ amidst the craziness.
Honestly that's something I could use more of not just with Christmas, but all year long.
Consider using this advent devotional for your own family in 2022.

Loved the twice a day devotionals leading up to Christmas. Starting and ending the day with connecting through a great devotional is a bookends having an amazing day. The devotionals qere quick to read.

The devotions in this book were okay. I tend to like a little more meat to my devotions something I can chew on a bit more. However, the fact these were so short and had one for morning and night allowed me to begin and end my day in my favorite way. The shorter passages were great for the holiday season because life can get a bit crazy. Overall, a good, quick, and easy devotional.

A wonderful companion at Christmas. A chance to reflect on the more spiritual elements on the season and take a break during the chaos of the holidays.

This advent focused devotional gives you two reflections a day - one for morning and one for evening. It is a great book to begin on December 1 and do every day leading up to Christmas. It provides one scripture a day and reflects on how that relates to the season. The writers of each devotion are women that write for Our Daily Bread. Although they are rather short, you could easily use this as a starting point to dig deeper into the scripture for the day. With that being said, Christmas is a busy season for most so this devotional will allow you to start and begin your day with God even if time is limited.

This book filled me with so much joy and hope during the Christmas season. It brought me closer to God💗

I appreciate that Our Daily Bread doesn't shy away from depressing testimonies. Although this was a Christmas edition, this season can still make people feel inadequate and depressed. When people overcome these feelings, Our Daily Bread is able to touch more people than an individual could do on her own. In my opinion, this would make a great coffee table book or books churches can leave in the lobby. The cover catches the eye and the title makes you want to flip through.
