Description
We created this book for children, but we recommend it for adults as well. It's for those who don't like to read boring bricks of text but prefer to get right down to business, learning skills as they go.
You won't find a book easier to use than this one. Not only does it have illustrated recipes for delicious dishes with concise, detailed descriptions, but it also has important information about the basics of baking that we've simplified and illustrated.
Advance Praise
"Easy to make. Recipes are broken down into 3 categories of difficulty, but even the most difficult ones are manageable for a child. Most recipes require 3 to 10 ingredients.
Don't require gourmet ingredients. Chances are you already have everything you need, or you can find it at the nearest supermarket, regardless of the country you live in. In addition, there are substitution options for many of the ingredients.
Most recipes require only the most basic cooking utensils. And even for those, there are substitution options: no microwave — make a water bath; no mixer — use a whisk.

I wasn't a fan of the cover of this book but as a big fan of cook books, especially ones for children I was intrigued to give it a go. Upon opening a handful of pages, I wasn't disappointed. The contents page and colourful pages drew me in. I found the safety tips were brilliant. As well as the baking language quide handy, especially for children or adults who haven't baked before. I loved how easy to follow the recipes were, the step by steps, the notes at the end of the recipes as well as the amazing real photos! With lots of different recipes to choose from, I was impressed with this book. I also found that the last few pages were really well thoughtout with all the recipes listed and how long they would take to make - this is fab! Also a table which shows which recipes were for which meal / event! I can't wait to show this book to my 12year old who loves to bake!! Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this great book.
My kids loved this book. The easy instructions and the notes afterward were highlighted often. They made many of the recipes with just my supervision and they had a great time doing it. They want more cookbooks like this one
There was something wrong with the download, I tried it in Kindle and on the NetGalley Shelf app and it doesn’t work on either.

Such a cute cookbook with gorgeous illustrations throughout. Very easy for kids to follow with basic tips. The flourless chocolate cake was a hit with everyone and we have picked out a few more recipes to make in the future. The simplicity of the recipe and instructions means that my son can get involved and feel like he’s in charge.
We can’t wait to try out the recipes for
Fudge brownies with pecans and chocolate crinkle cookies
A wonderful illustrated guide for children, teens, and adults alike interested in baking at large. It is structured into three main parts: safety, recipes, and index. Geared towards the younger side of the age spectrum, it ensures that children understand that they should have an adult with them when using a stove, sharp utensils, and so forth. It also includes culinary terminology like "knead" and "sift" with icons for what each action entails. Although I have not baked any of the items myself, I found the instructions clear, aesthetically pleasing, and easy for anyone of any age to follow. After each recipe, there is a page where the reader can rate the recipe, how they would alter it for next time, and room for experimentation. Finally, the index includes conversion factors, recipes divided by hours to complete, and a final coloring page.
This was a very visual and easy book to go through. It’s an amazing and very helpful book. The book starting off with safety rules is very important and the way it’s structured with images will help children see and understand things a bit better. This teaches them things that will help keep them safe in the kitchen while having fun. From beginning to end I really did like this book. The ingredients and equipment’s little images are helpful because it will point things out to children and help them find the things they need very quickly and easily. The recipes are very easy to follow with pictures and the little captions. It’s a very engaging book. I love how there’s little facts. At the end of every recipe you have a notes sections that you can talk about how the recipe went. Overall, this book was incredible and something I would definitely gift to someone because of how it’s set up.
Adorable cookbook for kids and teenagers wanting to learn how to bake! It includes a variety of mouthwatering, aesthetically-appealing recipes with extra pages for notes. The illustrations are adorable and I loved the photographs.
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for providing this ARC.
This is a very nice book which will help adults and kids together to explore the world of baking. The book is appealing for children with its simple, colourful and friendly presentation. The recipes are clearly marked with the degree of difficulty and a clear indication of the preparation time. A handy overview at the end of the book organises the recipe per preparation time so it is possible to decide what to bake depending on how much time is available. The ingredients are always simple and easy to find in regular shops.
I really liked the illustrations and the good step by step instructions. A little kitten helps out here and there and shows the child what to do. He is very cute.
I really liked the fact that the book also introduces useful baking knowledge to our little bakers: they learn the baking language, how to measure the ingredients, quite a number of good safety advice, and a really nice set of steps to follow when baking from washing their hands to putting everything back in its place, cleaning the kitchen and, of course, enjoying their food. The book has space for kids and parents to make notes under each recipe if there is something they need to keep in mind for next time.
A very nice little book to initiate kids to the pleasure of home baking.

This book is a good baking book for children. I really liked the pictures, instructions and the recipes. It is the perfect gift for a child, teen as an introduction to baking!

This is a seriously cute cookbook! The recipes look absolutely delicious and I can't wait to try some of them. The way everything is laid out is super simple and I love the illustrations. Those little cats chopping and cooking are so adorable! The pictures of the finished recipes look so scrumptious they had my mouth watering! I think this would be an amazing book to gift someone of any age who likes to bake. Such a fun layout!
I actually think this recipe book is fab and is something that I would happily use with my daughter time and time again.
At the beginning it teaches you about all the dangers in the kitchen, and what you use to measure certain ingredients along with what certain words mean e.g to knead, to glaze etc.
The actual recipe itself is very easy to understand with step by step instructions, along with a bit afterwards where you can write notes and review on the recipe you have just done.
Great book.
Ok, I wasn’t sure about the cover but grabbed it read anyways because I think it’s cartoony for kids. My kids love this cookbook, they found the recipes and drawings to be easy to understand. They are super excited to try some of the recipes. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a gifted copy. This is my honest review.

This is a wonderful cookbook for children. The recipes are easy to follow I love the introduction of each recipe includes a difficulty rating, and includes the estimated time to prep, cook, and rest. It also has how many it makes. The photos are wonderful and I love how at the end of each recipe there is a place for notes. Your child can put the date he or she completed it, how well he or she liked it, who helped him or her, any thing they would change and ideas to experiment with the recipe. I think this is a perfect gift for a child who loves to cook.
Thank you Netgalley for letting me read this book in exchange for my review.

This is such a cute idea! Especially for kids the images of what to do really help, but even for adults, how can anyone resist the cuteness, right?
Doesn't it make it look A LOT easier for kids? I would have loved something like this when I was about 11-14 when every book seemed so far from my reach. Especially when recipes don't have photos, I'm still not a fan! Cookbooks should always have pictures accompanying each recipe, right?
The book is all with color and images. It's simple, appealing, and a lot of fun. It comes with an index of what each image means, level of difficulty, safety rules, how to measure things, and more.
As for the recipes it has quite many cookies and bars, cakes, cupcakes, muffins, pastries, bread, savory/salty snacks, and how to do some ingredients that you might need if you don't have.
I loved the cat drawings and I can't wait to try out some of the recipes!

I enjoyed this cute illustrated baking cookbook. I know it aid for Kids and Teens but I also feel like if you are a beginner baker you will enjoy this also. Some of the recipes didn't have instructions but I still enjoyed it. Loved it and highly recommend
This is such a cute title and a great way to introduce children of ages to the kitchen. It goes over basics and teach great skills that new cooks can build on. The adorable step-by-step illustrations are a huge bonus.

This is a great beginning cooking book for families. The book uses both words and pictures so nonreaders can also use this book. It shows the ingredients with pictures and the amount of needed, then pictures of the equipment needed. Then step by step pictorial directions. This is a great book for kids and adults that are learning to cook. There's even advanced recipes like Macarons. I need to keep this one in mind because I have always wanted to learn how to make them. There's mainly cookies, cakes, muffins and bread but there is also pizza. You know all the stuff that kids like to eat. This cookbook could help families bake together and have some great family memories together.

The cute cover immediately had my attention and when I opened the pages I found a well thought out cookbook for all children who want to learn how to bake. Each recipe starts with a mouth-watering real photograph, short overview and a difficulty rating. Then there are lots of wonderful illustrations for the ingredients, equipment and step-by-step instructions in combination with short descriptions. Finally there is a page for notes and a rating of tastiness, so you can add your own thoughts and ideas.
I love the selection of delicious and easy to make recipes and their arrangement throughout the book. Specific cooking vocabulary and their corresponding images are explained at the very beginning so that the instructions are very easy to follow. The book concludes with a list of all recipes sorted by how long they take to prepare and for which occasions they are suited best, which I found super useful. Children are going to love this and I also want more cookbooks like this one :D
Update: I have gone from 3 to 5 stars!!
After viewing the final Kindle book, I find it to be quite cute and the recipes sound delicious. My son has viewed it as well and is looking forward to making many of the treats by himself.
Small and basic. I did like the illustrations but there is not many recipes and some aren’t classified properly.
I really wanted to be wowed by this cookbook as my son and myself collect cookbooks. I personally won’t buy this one because of how lacking it is, BUT if you have a little one that’s just starting to stand on the stool while you bake, this may be perfect. This may even be perfect for those with disabilities learning to do things on their own.
This book would be perfect in print as the digital copies don’t lend themselves to easy navigation or reading. You can’t swipe the pages, but they will change if you tap them. Also, it doesn’t allow landscape reading or enlarging, so it very hard to read as the font is tiny.

What a great cookbook this is! My kids recently started cooking and especially have an interest for baking cookies. This book is amazing, it has great recipes that kids will enjoy and actually eat. It's very well presented with a step by step guide for each recipe, making it very easy to follow and it's full of information and tips for kids. I would definitely recommend purchasing this book if you have a child/teen, they will love it!

Nice book
Very easy to follow instructions
Easy to make biscuits and cakes
I would prefer it in book form
So going to purchase it now it's released
Thank you netgalley, Skye Wade
I absolutely loved this recipe book, and will definitely be buying it for my son when it’s published.
I love the illustrations and how the ingredients are listed by pictures and words, it makes it so appealing and interesting.
There is a great selection of cookies, cakes and snacks including pizza. Using ingredients that you would find in the store cupboard, nothing too fancy.
I’ve already made with my son some of the cookie recipes which were delicious.
The photographs are appealing, and there are spaces to make notes at the end of each recipe.
I particularly liked the back section detailing cooking times, so you can pick a recipe accordingly.
Thank you to the publisher and net galley for giving me an advanced copy, I loved it.
Great birthday present for a child’s birthday.
This is a fantastic family friendly cook book. There is a great variety of recipes for children to make but what makes this cookbook stand out from other children’s cookbooks are two thing. The first is that all instructions given are using illustrations, making it accessible for all ages and easy to engage with. The second is that each recipe note section - a page where you can rate the recipe, say when you made it and with whom and even a section to brainstorm ideas on how to tweek the recipe for next time. If that wasn’t enough there is also colouring sheets in the back. This is a cookbook that belongs in all family kitchens.
Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to review this book in exchange for an honest opinion.
A cute and easy book for kids to learn baking. The note section after each recipe is a great idea! I stole some recipes to make myself. A great book for any kid.

Illustrated Step-by-Step Baking Cookbook for Kids and Teens by Skye Wade is such an amazing cookbook. I was not that excited to examine this book because I felt that the cover was off-putting. However, the inside of this book definitely makes up for the cover. Inside, kids will find recipes they love along with beautiful color photographs and step by step instructions with drawings to illustrate them. It is such an easy format to follow and I think that would work well with kids of many different ages. Great book overall. I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher with no obligations. These opinions are entirely my own.

A wonderful cookbook aimed at children filled with, on the whole, simple recipes to make with children. A timely download for me as midst school summer holidays with grandchildren to entertain makes the book even more opportune. Good photography with detailed step-by-step instructions in the form of line drawings featuring a cute little mouse, reminded me a little of DK publications. Everyday ingredients and utensils involved plus I was pleased to see the measurements in metric and imperial measurements instead of the rather mysterious world of cups being UK based and noting the book is aimed at the American market. Mainly all sweet based treats but also some yeast based bread plus the all time children's favourite, Pizza! I look forward to seeing the printed book as the kindle version didn't download all the pages but despite that we have made a Flourless Chocolate Cake this afternoon which was very yummy.

I can’t even. This book is so cute - I love the little cat, hard at work in the kitchen with its tongue sticking out. I love how this book was laid out, from the illustrated glossary, to the cookie rating of how hard the recipe will be. Each recipe was easy and fun to follow. I loved the section at the end of each recipe where you can make notes, suggestions for experiments, and fun facts about ingredients being used. I also appreciate that there is a picture of the finished project before every recipe. This is usually the thing I am annoyed about most in adult baking books! I want to see what I’m trying to make!
There are so many thoughtful touches in this book and I loved them all, including the index with the recipes broken down by time so bakers can quickly find something they can bake in the time frame they have. There is also a great index for bakes by occasion.
As an adult who enjoys doing easy bakes, I will definitely be making some of these treats! I would also recommend this book to parents who have a budding baker in the house. While there is a section in this book for “Savory and Salty” which includes things that can be made for dinner, such as pizza or quiche, it would be wonderful to see a version of this book by the same creator with all lunch/dinner options!
I received a free ARC from NetGalley and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

Wow, I absolutely adored this cookbook! The illustrations are not only beautiful and cute, they are very simple to follow. The written instructions are clear, concise and straightforward. The recipe ideas are delicious and well varied - there's plenty in here for everyone, no matter what your favourite treats are. Not only is this cookbook a joy to look at, I found it a joy to use in my kitchen. Would recommend wholeheartedly!

Skye Wade's Illustrated Step-by-Step Baking Cookbook for Kids and Teens has 60 mostly baking recipes divided into seven sections (cookies and bars, cakes, cupcakes, muffins, pastries, breads, and savory and salty). Each recipe has an illustrated ingredients list and instructions with an cartoon cat modeling each step. The introduction describes the goal of the work to use as "few words as possible," which is great for beginning cooks who may not know what each stage should look like, but the illustrations are a bit unclear at points. For example, the precooking instructions have an illustration of a red circle with a line through it with the captain: "Read the Safety Rules!", which seems to imply that you should not read the safety rules. Beyond that, the text is very approachable for younger cooks. Recipes are broken down in to simple steps and a "! Adult Help" or "CAREFUL!" icon is put next to any step that may be unsafe for a young cook to do alone.
This was published June 25th 2021. I received an eARC from Net Galley for review.

Wow! I love this book. It's got lots of useful information about cooking at the start. The recipes are easy to follow, with appropriate steps, and well illustrated. The cat pictures are super cute. I wish I had this book when I was younger.

It really is wonderful. The design is perfect for kids! The design is outstanding and the recipes are kid-friendly. Baking Basics are included, which are important then there are recipes perfect for various treats and snacks. The illustrations are fun for showing the tools, ingredients and instructions. If there is a school bake sale, family event or club event needing a treat or perhaps other gathering this is the cookbook to grab to find the treat and work together to create a treat to enjoy at home. There is even a difficult chart to help determine how much work or baking knowledge is needed.

My mouth began watering before I even finished the introduction of this book, and let me tell you, it only got worse/better once I saw the recipes!
I wish I had had this book when I was a teenager and starting to get acquainted with all the kitchen utensils. This easy step-by-step baking cookbook would have made my life so much easier when I was starting out. The instructions are perfectly clear, the pages are nicely illustrated and the baked goods look delicious! First thing on my list to do: bake all the cookies presented in this book! With this cookbook I might even finally try baking macarons again (last time I tried to do that it was an utter failure!).
I would consider getting this book for my future nephew and niece and I can only imagine the fun we'd have with all these recipes. This cookbook is very easy to follow and has great beginner's tips!
This is the most adorable cover that I’ve ever seen, whoever designed it deserves a huge congratulations because it’s impossible not to want to read it.
I’m going to be honest and say, I don’t really enjoy to cook that much and the reason for it, it’s because I’m a huge disaster on the kitchen, half of the time my recipes ends up in complete failure and even some tears
But having this book with the cute illustrations and easy instructions really made me want to try again, this book it’s so well done and carefully made, not only kids and teens will enjoy it but adults too. it’s perfect for a little family time on the kitchen.
My favorite recipe was the chocolate crinkle cookies, the photo was so mouthwatering that I’m already preparing the ingredients to try it.
“Thanks netgalley and the publisher for this arc in exchange of a honest review”
Got this title mainly for my son, who loves to bake and help out in the kitchen! When he read through everything, his eyes lit up with joy especially at the cat that was cooking in the illustrations. Hopefully we can get more books like this for children to enjoy! He gives it 5 stars!

A great learning/ teaching cookbook for beginners or those that are teaching the next generation to cook. Some people learn better with visual aids. This is definitely for them! But, this cookbook has some seriously good recipes too. Buy it as a gift....but get yourself one too!

Illustrated step by step baking cookbook for kids is an adorable illustrated instructional recipe book for children set out in an easy to follow and read format. The instructions are clear and concise and the choice in the book is amazing.
Each recipe is followed by a page for the child to fill in with information such as when they made that dish, who they made it with, what they would change next time, a star rating, ideas for experiments and a fun fact.
This book is a great starting book for children to help with baking and cooking in a fun way.

Teaching kids to bake and cook is great fun but usually very messy. Teaching the same skill to teenagers can be a lot of hard work. Do they ever put their phones down?
I found it fun to work with so I'll just add it's good for adults too.
The recipes are easy to follow and the illustrations I found both helpful and at times amusing. I think I'm mimicking the cat now writing this review. Yes, my tongue is sticking out. Hey, it's how I concentrate.
I'd recommend all parents to have this standing by. It's fun, colourful and easy to use.
Enjoy!

Everybody seems to be busier than ever, and few people have time to teach their children how to cook and bake while juggling work and pressing responsibilities. Illustrated Step-by-Step Baking Cookbook for Kids: 60 easy and delicious recipes by Skye Wade, is one of the cutest and best cookbooks out there for kids. The recipes, however, are great for both kids and adults. This excellent cookbook has great recipes that everyone will want to make, with step-by-step instructions with cute illustrations that will definitely appeal to kids. The cookbook emphasizes the importance of having an adult present, which is essential, but some of the recipes are easy enough for older kids to make on their own as long as there is an adult in the house.
Rather than written recipes in the traditional way, these recipes have very easy-to-follow illustrations with simple prose. The first chapter is devoted to basics and includes basic cooking terms, safety rules, and instructions for measuring. That chapter is important for introducing good baking skills for children. It is also a good reminder for adults who may not have developed good baking skills.
One of the most important elements in a good cookbook, and especially in a children’s book is photographs, and in this cookbook there is a beautiful photograph of every recipe.
Anyone with children should pick up this excellent cookbook; it includes mouthwatering recipes, great information on building good baking skills, and even places to put notes. This will be the cookbook that kids will use whenever they want a good treat, and one that they will take with them after they are grown. The price is a bit steep, but most families will find it’s worth it.
Special thanks to NetGalley for supplying a review copy of this book.

Yummy! Some just so easy recipes and some so much fun to do together. This is definitely a book that I will be buying a hard cooy as well.
Loved it. Thank you Netgalley for the ARC
I like the illustration style, so cute! I want to recommend this book to someone who has kids and wants to teach their kids baking, this book is good for starting, I like baking, and I like illustrations, so it will a good book for me, I'm adult but I still enjoy this book :)

This was a great book to follow. Even my brother can do the baking. Very basic and straightforward. The illustration is great and helped a lot.
This cookbook has a fun and fresh design that will appeal to children of all ages, and some adults too!
Instead of blocks of text this cookbook features beautifully illustrated drawings of the ingredients, equipment and step by step instructions needed to make each recipe.
The concise nature of the book is perfect for budding bakers who want to get their hands dirty and straight into the baking. Each recipes includes a photograph of the finished item which I always appreciate in a cookbook, and there really is something for everyone included in this cookbook - the only problem is choosing which one to make first!
The book is really sweet and the recipes look delightful! I would definitely recommend it if you want to start to bake with your children even if they are unable to read yet.
The step by step illustrations with caution warnings „don’t do it alone/ask someone to help“ makes it clear that it makes a perfect thing to do with your children/grandchildren together.
The only sad thing for me was that with the kindle version I had every page twice and not really formatted. But that is the only downgrade.
Leanetta S, Reviewer
This is a very informative and helpful cookbook for kids. It has great pictures and easy to follow directions. I like the guide that asks for parent (guardian) or older sibling to help with the stove and other sharp objects.
There is a section for nearly everything too, bread, cakes, cookies, pies, just a lot. It’s so interesting and since I have my nieces over I’m sure we’ll get a lot of use out these easy to follow recipes.
So this book is adorable, just as I had expected. It would have been incredibly disappointing if it wasn't.
I love that this offers a place to rate each recipe and put ideas for changing up a recipe and putting ideas for experiments while also providing some of their own.
It did feel incredibly odd that Chapters 8 and 9 only contain one item, and both items are related to each other.
Everyone should know how to cook. Any child that's able to reach the kitchen countertop (stepstools help!) and has the dexterity to use measuring cups and stirring spoons should be spending time in the kitchen, gaining knowledge and skills that will serve them for a lifetime. This cookbook is a great place to start. While it's large enough to serve as the aforementioned stepstool, it's not intimidating. The soothing color scheme sets a tone of relaxation. The use of simple drawings and pleasant photographs helps keep the tone upbeat and expectations reasonable. A free gift offered at the beginning of the book helps build a relationship between the author and the child.
We start with baking basics, where the child will learn how to prepare to cook, how to cook safely, how to measure, and will be taught the terminology that will be used in the recipes. Each recipe begins with an ingredient count number and difficulty level, as well as preptime, baking, resting and yield numbers. A photograph of what the finished product should look like gives the child a mental image to strive for. After that, everything is explained step-by-step in cute little drawings a child will feel comfortable with. After each recipe comes a review page, where the child is encouraged to rate the recipe on a five star system, and make notes about what they might change, ideas for experimenting, and who helped.
The one thing I would change about this cookbook would be the overabundance of sweet recipes. There's plenty of cookies, cakes, muffins, pastries, but only four bread recipes, and a 'savory and salty' category which contains five recipes, three of which are pizza. Surely a child can bake a potato, assemble a casserole, or season a fish filet to bake in a toaster oven. And shouldn't we be teaching them that there's more for dinner than pizza?
All in all, I would love to have received this book as a child. It would have prepared me for life on my own much better than my little Easy-Bake oven did!
My thanks to author Skye Wade, BooksGoSocial, and NetGalley for allowing me to read a digital advance review copy of this book. This review is my honest and unbiased opinion.

Really lovely cute cooking book for pre-teens I'd suggest
Really simple to follow instructions with cooking times
There is even a safety section
Thank you Netgalley & Publisher for ARC
This is a fantastic resource for children, tweens and teens embarking on their cooking journey.
It is laid out in a simple, easy to follow manner, with both written and pictograph instructions, detailing exactly how long it'll take (prep, rest and cook time), what ingredients and equipment you'll need and provides a review page at the end of each recipe.
There is a comprehensive list of safety rules (again written and illustrated) up front in the book followed by a full baking glossary and equipment lists. I do have a quibble here because the emergency number is 911, which is fine for US audiences, but problematic in the rest of the world.
There is a nice breakdown at the end of the book showing cooking times, suggesting occasions for each of the recipes and outlining measurement conventions. The occasions do suggest recipes that are "more suitable" for girls or boys (possibly for parties?), and quite frankly they could have omitted these columns. Food isn't gendered, and shouldn't be. Boys can enjoy blueberry tarts just as much as girls can enjoy chocolate chip cookies! It's this sort of thing that could turn a boy off cooking.
The recipes themselves are clear and easy to follow, and I look forward to cooking up a storm with my kids.
4 stars. They lost a point for the gendering of food.
~Many thanks to Netgalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.~

This is a super cute cookbook for kids and teens. My children loved making the Nutella cookies.
All the recipes are simple to follow and the instructions are clear. We particularly liked the cartoon cat pictures, they really made the book interesting for youngsters.
The photos of the actual baked goods was a plus for adults and kids alike. It gave us an idea of what we would be making. Mouthwatering treats to help bring the family together.
