Every artist’s career starts with a dream. A dream to create, to entertain and to fall in love with over and over again. It typically doesn’t happen overnight, but as a journey over many months or years. Your career will take many twists and lapses, and to stay the course can be a grind. The entertainment business has more unpredictability and excitement than any other, and once you’re in it’s tough to leave. But why ever would you?
Over the past year I’ve enjoyed every minute of interviewing artists from all around the world, but there’s something about Music City that has me coming back. The electricity in the air, the kindness and small town feel that you belong and it’s just been there waiting for you.
Having been an actress, writer and film producer, music has long been the spark to my earliest memories and a way to connect and reminisce. In reading these articles I hope that listening to their stories and ups and downs will bring you joy and help you live in the moment. I learned so much from these interviews myself. Less polish and more authenticity and how just showing up can sometimes be half the battle. Each artist’s story is unique, but all join a place of following their passion and living authentically.
Nashville has long been the birthplace of country music and legendary music careers. I hope this book helps you find joy in the journey, take small steps every day, stay true to yourself and more than anything, stay humble. Everyone makes mistakes, but you’ll have the time of your life. Put on your best, get out there and enjoy the ride.
“There’s really nowhere quite like Nashville - so much talent in one city, and each artist brings with them a unique story of how they got here. This book highlights some of these stories, and in doing so, amplifies the voices of some of the city’s brightest rising stars.” - Rob Beckham, President & CEO, The AMG
"An inspiring collection of interviews that reveal the real life struggles and triumphs of a life in entertainment. An essential read for anyone looking to break into the industry." - Andy Blunda, Composer/Musician, Fastball, Paloalto, Jay Leno’s Garage
"We can and must find inspiration from different people, places and experiences. Whether it’s overcoming past trauma or life’s daily struggles, we need each other to heal and move forward. The stories here should give us hope and definitely will help anyone that’s looking to break into the entertainment world or just push forward to a better life." - Richard P. Shaw, II, Executive Council/ CDO, STEVEN TYLER’S JANIE’S FUND
"Nothing ever really prepares you for the artist life––the odd hours; the cramming in of every networking opportunity, co-write, and gig; riding the line between releasing music when it's relevant and waiting on a label to scoop you up. Nothing prepares you for that. Other than hearing the real stories from people who have lived/are living it. It's inspiring. It's entertaining. It's encouraging. It's what you find in this book" ––Todd Tilghman, Season 18 Winner of NBC's The Voice

I really enjoyed reading about these up and coming stars. Some I had heard of and some I have not. I listened to some of them on you-tube and will pay more attention to their careers. Always looking for new stars to listen to. Thanks for letting me read your book. Really enjoyed getting to know them better.
Thank you NetGalley and Karina Michel Feld for the copy of Nashville’s Rising Stars. This is my personal review. I really enjoyed this book a lot. We all have heard the stories of the well-known Nashville stars and to read about the ones that are working their way up was fascinating. The author did a good job of letting us see what the newcomers are going thru to make it to the top. Some will be names that we will all recognize while others may not make it. Getting that peek into the world they live in was a journey to read about and feel the things they all must endure. Thank you for giving us a very enjoyable book.
This book was inspirational, and tells the stories of some of Nashville's Rising Stars. When I first started reading the book, I wasn't sure what to expect, but what I got was stories of their choices, their mistakes, their stepping out of their comfort zone, why they wanted the life they have. Each story, is different, and as Karina Michel Feld asked them questions, they answered them, it felt honest, and they wanted the reader to not only feel their passion, but the reason why they chose the path they did. It wasn't like an interview, it was more like, they wanted to be honest, let their passion come through, and they seemed down to earth, just wanting to live the life they were given. I received an ARC from Authority Magazine Press through NetGalley.
