Description

This book teaches you how to become successful.

If you are feeling stressed out with your life, career, and personal finances, read up. This book inspires, motivates, and teaches you, step by step, how to build generational wealth.

In Accidental Success, Michael Dillard provides the formula that he used to go from unemployed on a Friday to travelling around the world as a Foreign Service Officer on a Monday.

How did Michael go from a life of food stamps to a man who helps eradicate poverty throughout the world?

Through his life stories, he aims to inspire everyone who is contemplating a major life or career change.

Born in Portsmouth, VA to parents who had to drop out of high school. As a result, Michael’s Father joined the U.S. Army to make money to support the family.

From age 7, he was raised in a single-parent house when his parents divorced. The U.S. federal program called Upward Bound motivated him to develop a vision for his life. It provided tutoring and cultural exposure while in high school on the campus of Austin Peay State University.

After high school, he went to college in the morning and worked at Frigidaire assembling stoves in the afternoon in an unairconditioned factory with scorching hot heat in the summer.

Exhausted from working 40 plus hours a week and studying full time, he joined the U.S Army to get out of the hot heat and receive a $36,000 college fund to pay for a college degree at Middle Tennessee State University.

After working at Dell, Inc he had an inclination that he needed to leave the computer industry before computers become extinct.

As he received his master’s degree in accounting from Liberty University, he was laid off. He filed for unemployment and waited for the next chapter of his life to unfold.

This was the start of Michael’s journey to success. He went from being unemployed on a Friday to an Accidental Diplomat on Monday.

I really enjoyed reading about Michael's life, and how he made it as a diplomat proving that despite setbacks you can achieve success, or at least in this case he did. Someone with a different level of energy may not have done this, because it struck me how much energy he put into everything, his hobbies, his education and career, everything. But this book may well help that energy to manifest in more people? I do not know the answer to that, or if people's circumstances are so dire that they never recover from them? Nevertheless this book is an inspiration to all, and I recommend it wholeheartedly. If only for the unique story of Miclife it is well worth a read.
