Cute book about the difference between mucus and snot. Written in prose, every 2 lines rhyme. Very informative and hopefully relatable enough for kids to understand not to pick their noses

I was granted complimentary access to Boogie: The Strong Booger via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. My thoughts are my own and my review is honest.

Boogie is a rhyming story in verse teaching kids about the importance of nasal mucus (boogers!), what it does, and why we shouldn't pick it out all the time. Great message in a cute package!

The illustrations are bright and colourful and manage to make snot into an adorable character. Great work!

Kids like anything that is gross. Boogie’s is one of those things. Whatever you call them. Most youngsters spend all their time with fingers up their noses. This book explains the important job they do and why you shouldn’t pick.
Very colourful with lovely graphics. Informative and funny. Perfect for all kids.
Many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to see an arc

Boogie is such a fun but informative book. It had my 5 year old son laughing out loud in some parts and also asking many questions.

Thank you to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for my ARC.

While hilarious and a little bit gross, this book is a great way to introduce the concepts of germs and viruses. Kids will squeal with delight and not even realize the science they are learning!

Body functions illuminated

Hilarious, instructive and just right for young kids. Who knew all that boogers could do?
Despite the squawks and tittering associated with the topic, this book gives a serious, no nonsense account, with an added rhyming lilt, to just how awesome the design of our bodies are, down to the smallest detail. The illustrations are bright, clear and very child friendly.

This is a fun informative book about boogers of all things. Kids will meet the Strong Booger whose job it is to protect people from bacteria and viruses entering into their bodies.

Kids will love the gross topic and delightful illustrations. I'm sure there will be a lot of ,"YEWWWWS" and giggles as they read through the story. They will become aware of how magnificent their body design really is... right down to their last lonely booger.

The illustrations are bold, bright and very kid friendly. Who thought that snot could be personified in such a cute package? Little ones will understand why boogers are very important and should be left alone to shield and protect them from warring enemies that can cause them harm. I love the book and highly recommend it.

I really enjoyed the illustrations and the rhyming cadence of this book! It keeps the message light and interesting for young readers, and does a great job of explaining why boogers are in your nose and what they do. I think this would be a great tool to have in a classroom library to discourage nose picking or booger eating, and yet not shame children if they have those habits. I will be adding this to the classroom library in the future! Thanks to NetGalley for the chance to read and review this book.

This is a cute little book to teach kids what boogers actually are and how to take care of them and what they do for us.

Thanks to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for the free ebook ARC to read and review. The illustrations of this book are simultaneous hilarious and precious, which is a great combination. The story itself does double-lifting as both an informative book on how mucus functions in our body and helps us combat viruses, as well as a funny tale about yucky gooey boogers. It's a great chance to learn and laugh at the same time. I did sometimes find I was thrown out of the storytelling because the main character (Boogie, a booger!) talks directly to kids, so sometimes he jumps from talking about how to keep clean to asides like - don't call me snot! - all in a similar space. Overall, very fun.

Snot a joke - informative and entertaining look up the nose!

I do like a rhyming non-fiction book, makes a nice change.

Unfortunately though, this is really really hard to read aloud as the rhyme scheme changes constantly, all the lines are different lengths and it makes it very tricky to get into a rhythm to read aloud. The rhymes aren't always words that fit either.

Aside from the parents' view, when reading, it's very useful as a title, with lots of information about what bogies do, why they are different colours, and in general normalising and answering questions. Good to see some worries covered (red bogeys, the ones that grow or feel dry).

I'd have liked more about why children shouldn't eat them besides 'just because you can doesn't mean you should', but that's just an embarrassed and frustrated mum talking!

The word 'booger' isn't really used in the UK, and 'boogie' might also be a little confusing, as the word 'bogey' is what is said over here, but I'm sure an explanation will help listeners understand the differences in other countries.

Liked the pictures, could have been far more disgusting, they are cute guys in suits and with little faces (not sure about the pair having cups of tea!).

Lots of children will fancy this for the title and subject matter, and might even learn something.

For ages 3-7.

With thanks to Netgalley for providing a sample reading copy.
