Holy sh*t - your kid’s going to college! Welcome to the emotional roller-coaster. This gift book is a collection of Influencer Sharon Brecher’s humorous comic strips that portray the do’s and don’ts of sending your kid to college. Sharon shares her most popular and funny comedic musings to which every parent can relate. It’s the fun and candid “best friend’s take” on your kid leaving home.

Through illustrations and transparent slice-of-life narrative, Miserable Mom: The Do’s and Don’ts of Sending Your Kid to College will give you an authentic connection to others who are also navigating this emotional time. Delivering an unapologetic perspective of motherhood, Sharon shines a light on the stream of consciousness we all internalize and helps us laugh at ourselves.

By normalizing common parenting and mid-life vulnerabilities with a dose of humor, Miserable Mom will help you feel supported while enduring this incredibly special time of parenting college students.

This comical and honest survival guide is a perfect gift to give any mom or dad facing this stage of parenthood.

Are YOU a Miserable Mom?

Miserable Moms are strong women with a sense of humor who are tired of abiding by “socially appropriate” filters. We love our kids and raise them to conquer the world, while feeling utter dread at the thought of them leaving our nests. We cherish our spouses while imagining how to get away with murder. Like Charlie Brown and the football, we plan and look forward to extended family visits only to immediately pray for them to be over.

At times the raging hormones and realities of mid-life make us act a little crazy, and we’re okay with that. Because we know we’ve earned it.

If any of this applies to you, we’re you. Welcome to the club ... you have earned the badge of honor for being a Miserable Mom!

Reviews

“Sharon has taken her first-hand experience with the daily angst and indignities of motherhood and - instead of eating cupcakes alone in her car - has channeled it into this well-observed and funny book! Her illustrations that juxtapose her comic characters against a real-life background are an apt metaphor for her clever take on what it means to love and let go with a sense of humor... and to get up the next day and do it all over again.” - Eileen Heisler, Executive Producer/Co-Creator, The Middle

“She’s not really miserable. She’s creating her way through the ups and downs of life’s most perplexing assignment – raising humans. Sharon’s book is a sassy, sparkling help list for a mom’s most dreaded job, sending her kid to college. You will laugh, you will wince, you will buy two books so you can cut one up to send pages to your friends.” - Becky Blades, Author of Do Your Laundry or You’ll Die Alone: Advice Your Mom Would Give if She Thought You Were Listening

“Miserable Mom: The Do's and Don'ts of Sending Your Kid to College is fun, lighthearted and brimming with good advice - The perfect gift for any parent navigating this emotional, exciting journey.” - Linda Wolff, Freelance Writer/Syndicated Blogger, CarpoolGoddess.com

I’ve seen this author around on Instagram so when I saw this upcoming book I was interested in seeing just what advice she had to give!

I always find her comics incredibly relatable and this collection is no different. She has a way of thinking outside of the box and providing her own kind of humor that is funny, relatable, and almost like a pep talk all at the same time.

I wasn’t always a fan of the art, sometimes the mixture of realism and cartoon was odd to me, but ultimately this collection was very fun and enjoyable!

Wildly accurate guidebook to preparing for your kids to leave for college. Even writing that made me want to bawl my eyes out and I have years before that day.

I really enjoyed the practical advice.
