Amazing:
I absolutely loved reading this book! It was full of tension, danger and suspense yet there were also some emotional and more tender times too. Even though it was set in occupied France during WWII, I liked that overall the tone of the book wasn't too heavy or depressing. It was interesting exploring what could happen if a German soldier stood up for what was right. They were all certainly very brave and it made me wonder what I would have done if faced with similar circumstances.
I enjoyed witnessing Franz and Rosalie's character development and especially their spiritual growth and maturity. I loved their sweet romance that felt authentic and my heart was crying out for things to work out for them.
This was a wonderful addition to what has been an outstanding series about unexpected female heroines during WWII and I liked that this one featured French and German citizens.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. All opinions expressed are solely my own.

Rosalie, a young French woman, is trying to keep her family together during German occupation. Her father is in a German prisoner of war camp, her mother is distant and cold, and her younger brother is working for the resistance. Franz, a German soldier stationed in France, finds himself conflicted by the war, and no longer believes in the cause. When Franz finds a wounded English pilot, he takes him to Rosalie to be hidden and cared for. Suspicious of Franz, Rosalie is unsure and uncertain.

This was a gripping novel. The characters were well rounded and dynamic. The plot unfolded nicely and did not feel rushed or incomplete. I would love to read a sequel and see where the characters end up. Overall, highly recommended.
