This guide to making your own tarot cards has a good layout and excellent pictures. The beginning of the book covers the basics of what tarot is, common misconceptions, and how to take care of your cards. The rest of the book covers how to make your own cards, with examples from the deck the author made.

I received an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

This would be a great gift for a person just getting into Tarot. Making your own Tarot cards would allow them to focus on the meaning of each card. Adrianne gives a great explanation about myths and truths of Tarot. She gives a really short but concise way to perform a reading and offers advice on how to troubleshoot reading issues. As for the second half of the book, creating your own tarot cards. I love the theme of plants that they chose to use for tarot cards. They give step by step instructions on how to paint them which is fabulous for those of us that aren't painters.

Overall, this is definitely a book that I would by for someone who is either new to tarot or wants to add their own flair to their tarot readings.

Thank you Netgalley and Quatro for this ADR to give an unbiased review of this book.

I love the front cover very colourful and bright draws you straight to the book. Create your own tarot cards is great for beginners. When you open the book it’s just as bright as the front cover with lots of pictures of the tarot cards and has information on all the tarot, brief history and than goes on to show you and inform you how to make and paint your own tarot cards. Which is really good and useful. Strongly recommend this book if you want to make your own tarot cards and to find out more about them.

For myself, creativity and intuition are intimately linked. I’ve discovered that as we open up to life in creative and curious ways, we strengthen our inner knowing and begin to find our personal ebb and flow... like art, tarot is a wonderful tool for allowing us to commune with our inner sense wisdom and it inspires personal growth and transformation. Theresa Reed and Adrianne Hawthorne have created an exceptional guide for people to explore their creativity and learn tarot together. Tarot and art can be extremely intimidating for people, but this book presents solid information in a fun and accessible way.

I love how this craft/activity guidebook on making our own tarot cards turns out to be!
Honestly, I got a bit disappointed when I started reading the book as I am new to tarot cards and the book started with all the cards and explanations making me overwhelmed. Guess it's a me thing. However, I started enjoying the actual portion of the book which it means to elaborate, that is, the actual tarot card making process. It's a step by step process flanked with real colourful pictures of the process.

Go for it as the steps are fun and easy enough for everyone, for all ages.

The first section of the book gives a basic overview of the history and traditions of the tarot together with a very brief description of some of the cards and directions on how to use spreads to read the cards. As an absolute beginner I found this useful and it gave me confidence that I could begin a basic reading of the tarot cards.
The second section details how the author had painted her own deck of cards and the planning she had put in to developing the necessary cards. The thought process behind her adaptation is fascinating and gives an excellent basis for the reader to develop their own theme. Step by step photographs of the painting of several cards are also included together with suggested materials.

This book is a great starting point for someone who is interested in developing their own tarot cards and to spark a desire for a more in-depth study in to tarot reading.

Thank you to Quarto Publishing Group - Walter Foster and Netgalley for an eARC of this book to read and review

Thank you to the publisher and to Netgalley for giving me this eARC to review.

Create Your Own Tarot is a great book that explains Tarot (major, minor, care for tarot. myths and truths) within the first half and then explores the creation of the deck. It gives ideas and shows the process of the cards with what materials are used and in which order. This has inspired me to make my own deck as I have wanted to for a while.

I will say that I am new to Tarot and I am still learning myself so this was very informative to me but it is always handy to use another resource to cross-reference meanings and such!

A fantastic, quick read that motivates and really breaks down the creation of a tarot deck into easy, doable bites. I've been reading tarot professionally since 2009 and wanting to make my own tarot deck for years but it always felt like this monumental task and overwhelmed me. Now I really do have the confidence to give this a go. Love it and highly recommend this book for crafters and tarot enthusiasts alike.

I enjoyed reading the history of Tarot and the breakdown of each card. I am new to Tarot, but for years I've felt inspired by the beautiful artwork depicted on each card. I appreciate how balanced this book is. It's informative when it needs to be, while providing your brain with a break, to process the brightly colored pictures. I've come up with a few ideas and look forward to trying them out.
