This book is stunning! Just look at the cover....and I would say the main content inside is more amazing, much more stunning!
This is for you if you are familiar with The Secret Garden as it will give you a better perspective while reading this book.
You can read this book for an entire month as it is planned that way. But I would say it's okay if you read this book anytime you need to and pick any chapter as you go. A chapter provides so much comfort and warmth. It will make you energized and feel comforted.
I just love how colourful and calming the pages are.
Definitely need this in my collection.
Thank you, Barbour Publishing, for the advance reading copy.
I have read and own several of this author’s devotion books based on literary works. I loved the Anne of Green Gables and Little Women ones especially. Now she adds another beloved book to her collection of devotion books. These are full of devotions based on scenes from the books on which they are based. They are full and rich and are great additions to any personal library. I very highly recommend them.
My thanks to Barbour Publisher for a copy of this book. I was not required to write a review and the opinion here is my own.
I love Rachel Dodge’s devotional books, so I was very excited that I was able to read an advanced copy. The Secret Garden was not one of my favorite books, but after reading the devotional, I can honestly say I now love it thanks to Rachel. She has a beautiful gift of relating books to Scripture and stories from the Bible. And it’s not like some people who will grasp at straws to make a random comparison - she truly finds the best of each chapter and explains it beautifully. Oh and the illustrations! I always love her companion illustrations, such a talent! I highly recommend this for anyone who wants to spend more time with God in His garden and get to know Him better.
I received an advanced copy from NetGalley in exchange for a review and opinions are my own.

4.5 stars rounded up to 5.
To say that I am impressed is a bit of an understatement. This book was just everything. It was beautiful to look at and read. It was interesting. It was powerful and it really challenges your thinking and perspective. The layout of the chapters made this easy to read and follow. It was just stunning.
Now, I wouldn't say I am a Christian, but, I also wouldn't say I'm not. I'm in the middle with an open mind. But if you are not Christian then just be aware that this is heavy in religion. Though you shouldn't let that stop you from grabbing this as it has many and I mean MANY, fantastic life lessons I think everyone can benefit from.
This book has really made me see my favourite stroy of all time, in a different perspective. I hadn't (consciously) realised just how relatable to lifes struggles The Secret Garden really explores. I really wanted to take my time with this so I'm going to be adding this book to the pile of books I want to be able to just pick up and jump to a chapter, when I need some positive support (which, is actually almost all the time.)
So yeah, this book I can see becoming a treasure of mine and I am so glad it exists.
Highly recommend for those who are open minded.
Really well done devotional for the Secret Garden. I like how it really goes through chapter by chapter with verses, a personal application, and daily prayer. Through it I revisited one of my favorite childhood books and the illustrations are beautiful!
Beautiful Devotional
The Secret Garden was my all time favorite childhood book. So, when I saw the title to this devotional, I knew it was one that I had to read.
Author Rachel Dodge has created a beautiful devotional that flawlessly ties the book chapters and devotionals together. Each devotional consists of a synopsis of a book chapter, a book quote, scripture references, personal application, and a prayer. This combination is very inspirational, encouraging, thought provoking and heartfelt. It is one that I will come back to time and time again, and one that I highly recommend.
Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book. All comments and opinions are completely my own.
I LOVE The Secret Garden Devotional by Rachel Dodge! I discovered her devotionals with the Little Women Devotional, which I loved, so when I saw this devotional I had to read it. It will not disappoint. If you have read the secret garden it is a wonderful reminder of the book, but if you haven't read the book don't worry. There is enough information in the devotional to let you know what is happening in the book. More importantly, Rachel uses the lessons from the story to show us God's love and mercy. She takes things that seem inconsequential and shows us that God is in everything. This book is upbeat and cheerful, it makes you feel like spring has sprung on the moors of your life. I suggest that everyone read this book.
I would like to thank Netgalley for allowing me to read an Advanced Reader Copy. The views expressed are mine alone.
