Description

No one knows the truth... though everyone has seen it before...

Joshua Triplow is just your average boy living a normal life, doing the normal things boys do, in what he believes is the best place on Earth: Corona, California. Only a recurring nightmare begins to plague him - and all the other children in the best place on Earth. A nightmare of a man in black... the very same who haunts his father's tortured childhood.

In the relentless nightly assault on his son, Bob begins to understand that what has been left behind half a world away, in another lifetime - another dimension - has found a way to thrive... He learns there are no colors but black in a place far over the rainbow and his sanity becomes the ultimate struggle.

While Joshua confronts a universe of lost souls... and a menagerie of clocks maddeningly ticking away the hour to nowhere. To the endless plains of Black Eternity. To nothingness... where everything he has left behind can be lost in an instant.

Kaleidoscopic Shades is not a story for readers in search of cheap scares and cheesy B-movie monsters. However, readers who can appreciate a rich and unnerving tale where you feel like waking up from a fever dream every time you stop reading it will love the book. It combines all the elements of classics such as Twin Peaks, The Twilight Zone, and Silent Hill in a way that doesn't feel derivative. Kaleidoscopic Shades is definitely not for the faint of heart, though, as it has plenty of vivid descriptions of stomach-churning stuff. Nevertheless, for those who can handle it, this book is sure to provide lots of thought-provoking musings on what is real and what is not - Many Books Review

Advance Praise

"""Kaleidoscopic Shades: Within Black Eternity"" is a doorstopper of a novel that fans of sci-fi and paranormal thrillers can really sink their teeth into. It's an homage to The Twilight Zone overlaid with Alice in Wonderland, with its own soundtrack, including Satchmo trumpeting, classic rock, a twisted version of ""Somewhere Over the Rainbow,"" and always the eerie, persistent sound of tinkling bells.""--- BookTrib Review

""I'm intrigued by this story; part Stephen King, part David Mitchell, part David Lynch (especially that lovely section set in some kind of weird poker room inside the Earth's crust, which is amazingly surreal and like something straight out of Twin Peaks). I'm also a fan of your personal writing style here, with its emphasis on wry humor and clever wordplay.""--- Jason Pettus- Editor

Whilst Kaleidoscopic Shades has a really unique voice, I also enjoyed the camaraderie of the skater boys and the notion of the 'thick' that is infecting Corona being somewhat similar to the alien control of the small town in The Tommyknockers and the Loser's Club of IT. You and King are definitely interested in similar things, and specifically our fears - Richard Sheppard, The Constant Reader Podcast - The Canon of Stephen King

""IF TWIN PEAKS AND THE TWILIGHT ZONE HAD A BABY ... While I do feel Kaleidoscopic Shades: Within Black Eternity has a creepy vibe to it, placing it firmly in the paranormal genre, I cannot overlook the science fiction elements that complement the plot. There is even something almost thriller-ish about it, too, which will definitely be appealing to someone who enjoys a good genre-bender. Not to mention, there is a surrealism quality to be found in this book, one that is akin to Twin Peaks or The Twilight Zone, which will certainly provide paranormal lovers with ample entertainment."" --- Bram Stoker Award nominee, Monique Snyman

""Kaleidoscopic Shades: Within Black Eternity by David A. Neuman is an exciting work of paranormal fiction. It takes you into a world where times could be manipulated, and a whole nation can disappear without a trace. It takes you into a world where anything and everything is possible. I recommend this book to lovers of paranormal fiction. Generally, lovers of fiction would find this book an interesting read."" --- OnlineBookClub.org"

"From the gloomy depths of the abyss emerges an incomprehensible narrative of enduring fear that... dazzle, stupefy, and terrify readers to their very core by summoning their most primal fears... giving them the form of the thing they dread most." - the Bookish Elf

Bob thought that he escaped his demons from his past, until he realizes that he passed those memories onto his son. They move across the country to seek answers and to find away to escape these memories. An imaginative time travel thriller with suspense and fantasy mixed in. The plot and characters are fantastically written.

This was a new author for me . I never read anything from this author before but for the most part I really liked this book. I thought the whole story was amazing. I honestly didn’t want this book to end. I can’t wait to see what this author comes up with on the next book they write. I usually judge a book from the cover because for me it shows if it’s going to be interesting or not and I loved the book.
