Description

House of Durga is not just an escape from the cruel reality.

Nor is it a place where it all starts and ends.

The sisterhood of the House of Durga is far more than that.

Their beginning, short existence, and end.

That summer, the life of young Pixela Omnia changed forever. From her parents' divorce, moving to the suburbs, and meeting two girls who will become her only support, but also her ruin. Hidden from the world and problems, in the heart of an abandoned amusement park, three young girls Billianet, Pixela, and Kaliopa form the sisterhood of Durga and begin to weave a network of crimes.

Twenty years later, now an adult and successful woman, Pixela can no longer bear the burden of remorse, and the tangle of unsolved murders will finally unfold in front of the public.

This is a story of peer violence, dysfunction, consequences, manipulation, wrapped in a veil of sadistic behavior and the occasional pink bow.

""This is a brilliantly written psychological thriller. If it were a foreign author with access to a bigger market and better advertising, she would be treated no less than Gillian Flynn and her Sharp Objects."" Author Zoran Žmirić

""House of Durga"" is a treat. The three heroines experienced the magma of abuse on their innocent skin in their childhood. This will later cause a brutal spiral of crime. In the dark, frantic atmosphere of dysfunctional families, the author wrote a brilliant catalog of social pathology."" Book critic Davor Špišić for Jutarnji list

""House of Durga"" is an eerie book. This is a psychological thriller bordering on horror, in the best manner of the great Stephen King. Hrvoj patiently narrates the story of three girls with cruel tendencies, the book is full of innate psychological pathologies, without ever neglecting the real traumas that give the girls context for their (bad) deeds, although they never serve as justifications. This was a new author for me . I never read anything from this author before but for the most part I really liked this book. I thought the whole story was amazing. I honestly didn’t want this book to end. I can’t wait to see what this author comes up with on the next book they write. I usually judge a book from the cover because for me it shows if it’s going to be interesting or not and I loved the book.

I didn't know what to expect from this book but I definitely enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. It was creepy and dark with an eerie atmosphere that kept me gripped all the way through and I didn't want to put it down.
Just on a side not the book does need heavy editing as there are a lot of grammatical and spelling errors bbut I still really enjoyed it.

A twisted tale of baby psychopaths.

Needs a ton of editing and grammar correction. And how come the author can’t spell the word ‘deaf’? There were at least 10 grammatical errors in the first 1% of the book.

I would have appreciated elaboration at the end when they go into Billy’s house instead of it just being ‘this is what they found in Billy’s freezer’ - show, don’t tell.

A suspenseful thriller about three young friends who committed crimes in their youth. Together they form a small group that call themselves the House of Durga. They go on a crime spree and go unnoticed as suspects. Pixela is on of the girls who has grown up to become successful. She tried to leave her past behind her and living her new life. But, the past has a way of coming back and haunting her. A wonderfully written story, plot and characters.
