Description

There is a very large problem in our veteran community. Every day, 640 veterans attempt suicide, 22 veterans die, and over 5,500 are thinking about committing suicide. Approximately 48 percent of all military members struggle after transitioning from military service—but these struggles don’t have to be the end of their story. There is a bright and successful future available for every veteran if we can help them reach their greatest potential.

Bob Taylor, a former Major in the US Air Force and B-52 navigator/radar navigator, flew eleven combat missions during Operation Desert Storm. He thought he was unaffected by these…until the nightmares came. This was the first sign of trauma, lasting for months. Embarrassed by his struggles, and thinking he didn’t sacrifice enough because he survived his military service, Bob suffered in silence, as many other veterans do. The nightmares returned fifteen years later, and he finally turned to the VA for help. He then embarked on a remarkable journey of healing and facing his trauma head-on.

In his new book, From Service to Success: New Mission, New Purpose, and New Journey to a Great Life (Morgan James Publishing, May 2, 2023,) Bob provides a lifeline for veterans who seek to move past the pain and trauma of service and adapt to a new way of living, and drives home the importance for veterans to have the means to support themselves, learn ways to become a part of their community, forgive themselves, develop healthy lifestyles, and grab onto the best that life has to offer. A roadmap for veterans who seek to move past the pain and trauma of service and adapt to a new way of living, From Service to Success is essential reading for veterans, their families, and friends to understand what is happening in the mind of a veteran after their service.

Author Bio:

Bob Taylor, CEO/Owner of Alliant Enterprises, graduated from Michigan State University in 1986 as a mechanical engineer and entered the Air Force as a B-52 navigator. He flew 11 combat missions during Operation Desert Storm and received the Air Force's Air Medal, and then served as a KC-135 navigator, eventually rising to the rank of Major. Over the past 27 years, Bob held positions in engineering, operations, marketing, sales, COO, and eventually CEO in the medical device industry. His first startup, Aspen Surgical Products, was ultimately sold to Hill Rom for $400M in 2012. Taylor had sold his 27% stake in 2002 to create Alliant Healthcare Products.

Alliant is a verified Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business formed in 2002. The company was recently recognized by the Small Business Administration (SBA) Michigan chapter as the Veteran-Owned Small Business of the Year for 2019. As a veteran owner, he has been a staunch advocate for legislative initiatives supporting veteran-owned initiatives and has spoken on Capitol Hill several times.

Taylor’s writing of From Service to Success is a cornerstone of his creation The Patriot Promise™ Foundation, which he created to help drive down the rate of suicides among veterans and to provide a clear path forward as our warfighters transition into a new mission and new purpose following their service. The Patriot Promise™ Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. The foundation is establishing non-profit ventures run 100% by veterans and offering veterans the ability to learn new skills in the workplace while also learning to enhance their lives through a training program based on the book.

Bob’s book touched me at many levels. This is a must read for veterans, in particular combat veterans seeking to improve their personal lives. I quickly recognized that I am and have been on my own journey ‘to Solitude’ (Chapter 1) since serving in Desert Storm. Bob is bringing awareness to our nation’s veteran suicide epidemic and providing practical solutions to help veterans and their families.” -Major General (retired) Mike Stone

Taylor writes with humility and authority, his passion for his fellow warriors is palpable and clear. Service to Success is difficult to put down.” -Sandy Gallagher, Proctor Gallagher Institute CEO

As a 10-year veteran from Special Operations, I can attest to the validity and importance of a book like “From Service to Success”. Bob’s well-written and captivating book elicits an emotional response that creates a call to action for our Active Duty and Veteran members. His own military experience gives him the ability to discuss how war can affect the minds of our men and women. An enticing and stimulating read for anyone that wants to improve themselves and conquer their own issues.”-Frank Troiano, Area Director, Government Affairs at Arjo| VA, DoD, and IHS | 10 Yr. USAF Pararescue Veteran

I served at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center in San Antonio, TX and saw firsthand the challenges facing our active-duty members and their families, whether service or combat related. After my separation, my medical sales career affords me the privilege to work with DoD MTF’s and VA hospitals in the eastern seaboard and so I continue to see the impact of service-related health and mental challenges faced by our active duty and veterans. Service to Success eloquently educates us on those critical issues and provides a simple road map for guidance and assistance … An earnest effort by Bob to make a difference and a case for service - leadership.” -Tony Bashir
