What a cute little story about a trip to the zoo! I liked that it rhymed throughout the story as well. I was impressed with how specific the author went with the type of animals they saw. Instead of “birds” it was “American Black vulture”. I thought the story was engaging, asking the reader to count, identify, and answer other questions.

I thought the illustrations were just ok. Probably could have been a bit better, in my opinion.

Reina, her little brother Mom and Dad and two of her friends spend the day at the zoo. I like the animal names are in bold so you can further research about them. This book is in rhyme form but has an added bonus of it being interactive to engage in conversation with your children while reading it. Reins starts at the birds, goes to the insects and reptiles and ends up at the mammals. I like that the added information on the species is included and bigger words are explained. The illustrations are vivid and pleasing to look at. I especially like some of the animals facial expressions. Thank you to the author for enforcing to listen to the zoo personnel and parents for children to stay safe. I highly recommend this book for older toddlers and early elementary levels for learning and interactive parent time.

Children loves zoo and animals so that's such a great setting already. And the illustrations are gorgeous and recognizable.
