Description

What is the point of working for yourself if not to work less and live more?

Being a business owner can be your road to ownership of your time, location, creativity, and peace of mind. But you need to design your work that way – and protect it.

The usual business advice makes it seem like you need a budget for ads and a social media strategist and a fancy website.

But all your business has to do is solve a problem with an offer. You share what you know and give people a way to pay you. That's it. No headaches. No big marketing budgets.

This book is about asking what it would look like if it were easy. What would it look like if you designed your business around the life you dream of leading?

Learn how to:

  • Figure out what you want your life to look like – and how a simple business can support that.
  • Find the clarity and courage to take a big leap forwards.
  • Engineer your business to be your dreamland, designed around what you love most and your non-negotiables.
  • Identify what "enough" and "success" look like to you, then reverse-engineer your ideal results.
  • Choose the currencies that matter most to you in life right now (including money, experience, time, and energy).
  • Make money on your terms, via products and services aligned with the way you want to work and live.
  • Keep your marketing as simple as possible (or make it unnecessary) by generating referrals from customers who love you.
  • Create the simplest possible offering, stop overthinking, and share it.
  • Engineer your business for more ease and flexibility, or allow yourself to go off-the-grid.
  • Joyfully do what doesn't scale, let go of the plan, and choose slow and simple instead of hustle and grind.

Instead of flailing around and waiting for when you feel more ready, what if it was already the perfect time to focus on the value you’re here to share with the world?

Writer, business owner, and adventurer Lucy Fuggle asks what it would look like if business were simple. If you could simplify everything and create a business that works for you, your customers, and the world, without hustle and grind.

This book is a loving encouragement to do business in your own way. Lucy Fuggle guides you to look less around at how things should be, and more inward to discover how your company fits your own situation. Whichever way you want to dream and do, it is possible.

This book provides you with simple guidelines. Each chapter has its own questions for you to answer and work out yourself. The book concludes with a practical step-by-step plan.

The writing style is wonderfully light and open, Lucy shares honest stories about her choices and decisions in her entrepreneurial journey.

What a beautiful, inspirational, and freeing book! From the first pages with the manifesto straight through the practical information I was enthralled and inspired. So great!

More than a how-to run a simple business book, this one looks at the philosophy of running a simple business, gives you things to consider, and turns a lot of the usual business advice on its head. If you’ve ever been even mildly curious about starting your own business, but just can’t jive with the hustle and grind culture, you may enjoy this book.

This is a soft book with kind wisdom for the entrepreneur journey. It is a testament to the fact that as business owners, we get to create exactly the kind of business we like. This is so easy to forget in the hustle and bustle, and the busy-ness of business.

A good reminder, gentle guidance, and insight into the brain of someone who has a lot of it figured out. In a world that keeps telling us to go bigger, it’s the reassurance that being okay with having less is also worthwhile.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy in exchange for an honest review. I deeply loved this book.
