In this delightful dinosaur adventure, kids discover the joys of mindfulness and meditation—and how good it can feel to take it slow.

Rex was a raucously rough, terrifically tough tyrannosaur. Sam was not.
Even so, they had a dino-mite friendship. They did everything together.
Until …

In the prehistoric world, rough-and-tumble Rex and the serene sauropod Sam are the most unlikely of best friends. Yet when Sam takes a break from play to meditate, his buddy Rex just doesn’t get it. Why would anybody want to sit still and chill when they could be romping and roaring all day?

My family and I loved this book! Dinosaurs Rex and Sam are good friends despite their differences, but they can't seem to find common ground on one thing... Sam is keen to breathe and relax and meditate, but Rex just wants to rage. Will Rex learn to see the benefits of chilling out?

As a long-time practitioner of yoga and meditation, I appreciate any childrens' book that gets my kids excited about the practices I hold so dear. Dinos Don't Meditate did just that. The story is cute, with some rhyming verse and fun characters. The illustrations are also lovely, and the message is beautiful. The book ends with some guidance for kids to incorporate meditation and mindfulness practices into their lives. The Jurassic Jumps meditation is definitely going to be on repeat over here!

Thank you to Sounds True Publishing and NetGalley for gifting me with an ARC to review. My family loved it!

This latest Dino’s Don’t book the Dino Don’t Meditate by Catherin Bailey is an absolute gem. Rex is not at all happy to meditate like his friends. He does not understand why Sam and the other dinos want to rest in quiet and think. One day when Rex gets stuck and has to rest in order for him to get out of the mess then her realizes what Sam and the other dinos were saying all along sometimes the best thing to do is sit still in the quiet and rest.

Alex Willmore did a beautiful job with the marker-style graphics for this book. The depictions of the dinosaurs is well drawn and the aspects of the personality of the dinosaurs came through in the `depictions. I think he did well working with Catherine on truly showing the personality of not just Rex but also Sam.

This is a well-written book that can be enjoyed by all ages children’s book. It tackles things like feelings and emotions which is always something to look for his a children’s book. I did find the little meditations and meditation rocks explanation in the back was a nice little bonus for little ones to learn about what meditation practice is. I really recommend this little read and I think it will be a good little bonus to any childhood bookshelf.

Dinos Don't Meditate is an excellent book to read to children to help them begin having times of quiet in their lives. The meditation excercises in the end of the book are designed to appeal to children. The story is well written and beautifully illustrated. I have a nine year old grandson and I look forward to reading it with him.

This was amazing. I am SO looking forward to buying this for my daughter. She loves dinosaurs, and the message behind this story is just so great. She is going to love this, and I’m going to know that she will learn something while reading. Meditation is an important part of life for some, and introducing it to young children is a great idea!

Bright colors and fun characters fill this picture book. Two dinosaurs, Rex and Sam. are friends even though they are different. But Rex can’t get past Sam’s meditation practice. It’s too boring for him. However, he comes to rethink this through the story.

Kids will relate to the high energy of Rex and hopefully to his realization that deep breathing and other aspects of meditation are really helpful. The back of the book has more information about meditation too that adults can check out, as well as some mindfulness ideas.

Rex, is a scrappy aggressive tough tyrannosaurus. His friend Sam is the complete opposite in temperament. Sam is gentle and calm and loves to still himself while he meditates. How in the world can the two dinosaurs be good friends when they have polar opposite characteristics ?

Rex cannot not fathom how sauropod Sam can withdraw from their rollicking playtimes to be still and enjoy some necessary quiet time. Of course, being friends, Sam always invites his rowdy friend to join him but Rex always declined his offer.
Will Rex finally discover the beauty and importance of meditating and decide to practice mindfulness himself?

"Dinos Don't Meditate" is a lovely story to share with a child that may have super high-energy and finds it hard to slow down, breathe, pay attention and be still. Kids will discover the benefits of peaceful timeouts. Those quiet times highlight how enjoyable times of relaxation can actually be.

The colourful expressive illustrations depict adorable relatable dinosaur characters. The author includes simple mindfulness guidance, including Mesozoic meditations that children can practice at home at the end of the book.

I love the book ( especially the character Rex, he's my favourite ) and I highly recommend the book.

I have had the dinosaur themed classroom for two years now, so this book was irresistible.
Rex doesn't want to mediate and does everything possible to skip out on it while Sam patiently waits for the realization that meditation is actually not half bad.

I love the stubborn rex and the gentle-hearted Sam. Super cute illustrations.
Will be using it in my classroom.

This was an awesome book about how to take a moment and take a breath. We could all stand to have some medication time.

It’s a cool age appropriate book about meditation and it makes it fun.

The illustrations were awesome too and I liked how the words of the story had a rhymey flow to them.

I think elementary school kids would love this one.

Dinos Don’t Meditate is a great rhyming picture book with a great message about emotions, breathing, and balancing play and rest. I would read this to kids age 3+. The rhymes flow nicely, and work well for reading aloud. I can definitely see myself using this for a storytime book in the future! I appreciate that in the end Sam and Rex still play and have fun. It shows that there is room for both rowdiness AND mindfulness, which I feel some picture books on this topic don't always address.

The illustrations are excellent, and show the expressions and personalities of the dinosaurs so well! I like the mix of full-color spreads with some pages that have a plain background and different scenes. A nice detail I enjoyed was that Rex's text was in red when he was speaking, and Sam's was in green to match their coloring.

The meditation activities in the back of the book are fantastic.
This will be out in March! Thank you to NetGalley for an advanced copy to read and review!

Dinos Don’t Meditate is a great book, especially for kids 4-8. My boys are still into dinosaurs so when we received this ARC I was so excited to read it to them. I love that it teaches kids how to use mediation to help with their feelings. We even had a few laughs along the way. It was very easy for my 4 year old to comprehend.

Our thoughts ~ we genuinely enjoyed this book, the characters Rex and Sam fit very well with the message that was being told. My daughter felt like she understood Rex she said sometimes she feels the same way and that it's hard to just breath and calm down but she knows that once she does it will help. I'm glad my daughter resonated with the story. The color story and adventure through pictures within the book paired well. We would definitely get this book to have in our physical collection.

What a great way to teach kids about meditation! I’m sure this book will be so helpful in the classroom and in speech therapy to teach the use of breathing for emotional regulation. I also loved the pictures with the beautiful earthy colors!

In this delightful follow-up to Dinos Don't Do Yoga, Rex and Sam are back at it again. When Sam takes a break from their epic adventures to meditate, Rex isn't having it. Dinos are meant to stomp and brawl! Until Rex finds himself in a situation where taking a moment to breath is exactly what he needs. Delightful illustrations with rhyming text make this an ideal story for read alouds.

This is such a CUTE book introducing meditation to children! I've practiced meditation for years, so the concept is not new to my daughter. We both enjoyed reading this vibrantly-colored book with a cute message on the benefits of meditation. I also enjoyed the fun practices at the end of the story. I recommend this to any child, regardless of their experience with meditation!

This was a cute quick read about Rex and his friend Sam. Rex is all about the action and thinks that mediating is useless but he learns that sometimes stopping and taking a breath is just what you need to do.

This was such a cute children’s book, full of great tips on meditation and mindfulness! I read it to the children I babysit and they were keen to try out some of the Dino meditations at the end which was great! The illustrations are cute and colourful, and the text is simple yet fun to read! Thank you to NetGalley, and the publisher for providing me an arc in return for an honest review!

In this cute book, a loud and rowdy dinosaur learns to take a moment and enjoy the peace and quiet. This book is good for those looking for a way to explain how taking a moment and enjoying the peace can be all it takes to make one feel better.

Two dinosaurs are best buds - but one is into meditation and the other would rather go on adventures. Roar! Smash!

The illustrations are adorable and the author managed to make meditation sound really fun. At the end you have a short explanation of what meditation is and how you can do it yourself.
If I am honest, this is the best explanation as to why mindfulness is important I've heard because there is no space to reach for big words and longwinded explanations. Also, dinosaurs. They make everything better.

The arc was provided by the publisher.

This was incredibly heartwarming and provided a good lesson. I think this is a great option to help introduce the conversation of both different personalities within friendships as well as how to help oneself in life's struggles.

Dinos Don't Meditate begins with Rex, a larger-than-life dinosaur, continually being rambunctious and not allowing his friends to meditate. He eventually sees the benefits of meditation and relaxation. Overall, this book was adorable and the illustrations were fabulous and would be a great book for children starting yoga/meditation.

I thought this was cute story that preschool or elementary age kids will really enjoy. I love how the story teaches why meditation and mindfulness can be helpful tools to find calm in your life.

The illustrations are really detailed and bright in colors. My only negative comment was scale of the dinosaurs. I'm not sure why they seem so small to their surroundings. The Trex seems very short and stubby. It also at times looks a bit off.

Thank you to NetGalley and Sounds True Publishing for this advanced reader copy. My review is voluntarily my own.

I will be posting my review to my Instagram page the.littlest.bookworm and retail sites close or on publication.

What an adorable book! I really like the storyline, the idea is very fresh! This book teaches children to be mindful not to get angry and tantrum easily. The selection of characters is very precise, Trex is a dinosaur that is famous for being vicious. Trex will learn to meditate in this book, can Trex practice meditation? Find the answer in this book you will really like this book

The illustrations in this book are very cute, I really like the Trex character when he's angry and calms down. The other dino characters are also very cute.

Thank you NetGalley and Publisher for accepting me to read and review this delightful book

What a great story for kids! Showing kids that slowing down, breathing and being mindful is a way to reset and become calm. The characters were fun, and the illustrations were so colorful. This book would be a wonderful addition to any family or classroom library. I know I will share this with my grandkids!
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for my review.

An important book about breathing, slowing down, and meditating that everyone can learn from- I know I did. The illustrations are gorgeous. I can’t wait to read this to my children.

I think this book would work great for little kids and Storytimes. The main premise of introducing meditation/yoga to a young audience is there, and while I think dinosaurs are always a hit with this audience, I'm not sure the two blend together. The puns also felt a little forced and there are some terms used for alliteration that these younger children aren't going to understand. Still, it's a cute book with a good premise and of course, dinosaurs, which most kids will love anyways.

A playful, prehistoric take on mindfulness! This fun and playful story is sure to be a hit as a read-aloud option in libraries and classrooms, especially for little ones who feel a bit like Rex, ready to "maim and maul"! Though the text is accessible and the rhyme scheme will keep smaller children interested, this book also makes good use of more complex vocabulary and offers a great language development opportunity. The mini meditation suggestions at the end of the tale are especially charming and will make this a great addition to a classroom library for PreK-2 teachers.

I really liked the art work and it was cute. I kinda wish there was more descriptions about meditation in the book, but I can see how a kid would like this book.
