I downloaded this book for my grandchildren. I live on a farm and found this book to be a wonderful way to engage my grandchildren in exploring the wonders on Nona’s farm. It moves them from reading to action. I really loved the sample log and binocular craft. I also appreciated the simple definitions of scientific words. Thank you, Kara, for such an engaging book. - Amazon Review by Amazon Customer

I liked the story flowed and included lots of facts.

And how it shows children to observe nature. The illustrations were cheerful and a good visual representation of the story. - Amazon Review by sewingmommy

5.0 out of 5 stars A fun and engaging book for children

I enjoyed this book, and perhaps more importantly, my 4 year old granddaughter did as well!

I like the logical progression of ideas, and she liked the pictures and, being so interested in learning to write, she wanted us to make an observation log book for her to 'write' in!

Hope to see more along this line. - Amazon Review by Susanna D. Reed

Book 1 in the Emmi’s World Series

Isn’t nature a beautiful thing? Emmi and her friends are on a backyard adventure exploring and making observations of all the creatures they see.

What I loved:
~ the close up view through the binoculars
~ big words are introduced and defined, like Naturalistic Observation
~ the mention of perspective and how she saw more opportunities by changing hers ~ this is true for many aspects of life
~ how a vision impaired adult wanted to join in the fun by using hearing at her sense
~ the aerial view of all 4 explorers on the expedition
~ the instructions on how to make your own binoculars because that is not something that everyone may own
~ Emmi has her own website with printable coloring pages

This is perfectly suitable for children aged 3-6. It showed the children safely inside their fenced in backyard, but I would have liked a reminder to not go out exploring on your own. I, also, would have liked to see a parent somewhere in the background observing the observer. Something fun could catch the eye of a young explorer and make them want to leave a safe environment.

The illustrations by Brie Bagwell were vibrant and fitting to the story. The flowers on Emmi’s shirt was a great idea since her adventure takes place in the spring.

This is a great book for teachers to use to explain how to make observations for a science class. I like how the little girl in the story explains what the “big words” mean and how the book has good visuals to support the story.

Observing nature through sights and sound.

An interactive book: There are just a couple big words with the definition immediately following. The next few pages are used to put the word into action. Before the book ends, the author smartly asked if the reader remembered the definition. I was incredibly impressed.

The story is engaging. The illustrations are darling with a color palette that draws your attention to the pages. My eyes wandered taking them in, and this was on my Kindle app.

At the back of the book there are a few crafty activities.

Extremely well-done, and I would gift, as well as have for a babysitter. In addition, I would include this in a babysitters' arsenal. I liked everything about this book.
