I also listened to this book, but wanted to read and reinforce the information I listened to. I loved all the diagrams and the different data compiled within this book.

Most helpful was learning how to create a culture people actually WANT to work within. I highly support hybrid or remote work, and I wish more companies would continue this valuable benefit.

I will be anonymously purchasing this for my boss, in t he hopes it helps with my current company!

Practical advise that I think could be helpful even if you aren't situated in HR. I would couple this book with Remote Not Distant and Generations for a well-rounded strategic planning stand point.

I loved the foundation of this book - changing the way people think about who they hire, why they hire, and what folks are actually looking for. I loved that the author talked about how it's not so much a workforce shortage so much as a misalignment of employer goals vs employee goals.

As a small business owner, a lot of what was said spoke to me. There were things that aren't necessarily possible to implement for a business as small as mine, or one that requires all employees to be present and on site to get the work done (bakery/ice cream shop), however I found aspects of everything that he spoke of to be valuable.

One critique for the audiobook was that it was a bit hard to follow at times, as there is SO MUCH INFO packed in, so I ended up requesting the ebook as well so that I could link the two. The resources mentioned in the audiobook are not yet up online, so unfortunately I was unable to see those, but having the ebook did give me access to some, though not all, of the diagrams and supplements mentioned. I look forward to seeing those uploaded, and I'll be checking back regularly to see how they are and will update my review after getting those in hand.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC opportunity!

There were several elements about this book I liked:

The author was definitely up to date on the “new” way of work post Covid, including Hybrid models of work, which my office does offer.

I appreciated the onboarding section of the book as I’m looking to streamline my onboarding process, and the author spoke with a lot of genuine respect for other cultures in the culture section of the book. I really like how he sets the tone for offices to be a place for people to be their authentic selves.

My only suggestions for improvement would be that the author would frequently state “we will discuss later” or, “we will discuss in future chapters”- this felt repetitive and unnecessary. Also, I work in healthcare, so I could not relate to this information completely as it spoke mainly of tech and engineering, however the author did a good job of trying their best to make the information applicable to many different types of companies.

Overall well done and I appreciate this type of leadership- it is how I hope to always treat my staff and it was inspiring to see another person with the same values!
