Frances is a beautiful girl from a wealthy family, that has a dream of being an actress and marriage is the last thing on her mind. A chance encounter with Henry a steelworker from Sheffield might just change her mind about marriage. Despite their class difference, they fall in love while trying to convince their families of their love, while a war is looming that might change their lives forever.

This was a great book and I loved that it was set in Sheffield.

This is a book that gives a realistic and believable slice of what life might have been like in wartime northern England. Coupled with the fact that the author lived in Sheffield as well as her impeccable research, this book was an excellent read.
