Description

One day, Dad's hair decided it was tired of being brushed and combed. It wanted a life of its own, to see the world. It took off.

Out of the bathroom, into the kitchen, and before you could say, "Hairsta la vista, baby!" it was gone.

Dad gives chase around the town. He spots his hair hiding in the lawn, on the road, at the zoo—it's amazing how many things look like hair. He gives up and tries to accept life without hair. Then the postcards arrive. The hair is on a round-the-world trip, and Dad is still bald. Until one day the unbelievable happens and the hair comes back.

A fast-paced, wonderfully absurd story packed with wordplay and hilarious illustrations.

When Dad's Hair Took Off is a comical chapter book for early readers or for any child to enjoy reading aloud with a grownup who relates! A fun book to celebrate and share with Dad on Father's Day or any day.

Translated from the German edition by Melody Shaw, which was shortlisted for multiple awards.

Jörg Mühle studied illustration in Offenbach and Paris. He has been illustrating for books and magazines since 2000. He is the author and illustrator of worldwide bestselling interactive bedtime book for toddlers, Tickle My Ears.

This story is ridiculous in the very best way! I always wonder how kids interpret things like a parent going bald and I think many would find this as an enjoyable explanation.

I received this digital ARC from NetGalley and the publisher. My 7 year old grandson read this book with me and he has also left a review.
James: I think this is an ok book. I don't think it was a great book. It was silly and that's why it was ok. Thank you for the book.
My rating: also 3 stars. This is not a book that I would buy for a 7 year old. I think it was too young for him. Dad's hair took off but didn't really go anywhere interesting. The pictures made it interesting because we studied them to find the hair that Dad had lost. If it weren't for the pictures the book would have no appeal. The story would not be interesting on its own.

This is a very cute book about Dad's hair deciding it doesn't want to be on his head any more. Dad's hair wanted a life of it's own. It left to see the world. It sprang off his head and Dad sprang after it. He flailed, scolded, threatened and pleaded. Nothing he did stopped the hair from running. Dad lost his temper and swung a towel. He got close to catching it. Dad had quiet a ordeal in the bathroom that landed him in the tub. Mom looked to see what the commotion was all about. That is when the hair bolted. It was gone through an open window. Dad grabbed his socks and shoes and took off after his hair. Maybe that is his hair on the lawn. He leapt but it was just grass. So Dad went for reinforcement and came out of the basement with a net. We weren't sure what he was going to do with it. He also had wallpaper paste. Things are getting serious. He was over the hill and through the dell following the trail into town. He finds his hair at a restaurant. Trying to get into a pot of soup. The chef chased it out. Oh how he tried to catch his hair. You are going to have to read for yourself to see if Dad was able to catch his hair.

This is a cute story about a dad losing his hair. The dad chases the hair all around. I think it would be a great read after a dad cuts his hair to explain what happened to the hair. Little kids will love it.
