Description

Beautiful guided stitchwork for every season—featuring fall pumpkins and mushroom wreaths, winter skiers, spring blossoms, summer vegetables, and more!

With 56 unique embroidery pieces to reflect the seasons, this next book from beloved author Yumiko Higuchi takes creatives on a month-by-month exploration of colorful motifs that can be used on a variety of fabrics and surfaces. Each month starts with an emblem of the month number, such as a vibrant poppy wreath for May, a viny pumpkin for October, and sprigs of mistletoe and Christmas roses for December. Each emblem perfectly captures the spirit of the month, and the subsequent patterns for each month follow the seasonal theme.

Each design in the book is accompanied by step-by-step instructions for recreating it, including stitch types, thread colors by number, and thread type. There is also a detailed section on how to perform certain stitches and knots to guide beginners.

Whether embroidering a new dress, a pillowcase, a bag, or even a jar cover for jam, Stitching through the Seasons has charming patterns that are sure to spark creativity and festivity for embroiderers both experienced and just starting out.

Classic, yet modern designs and I can't wait to purchase a copy for myself. The photos were wonderful and the instructions spot-on. As someone who has taught embroidery, this book does a great job explaining the basics and providing plenty of inspiration. A beautiful piece of work!

Very sophisticated and stylish layout and photography for this book.
I love the examples and variety. I'm excited to try out some of the embroidery for gifts.
Lots of photos and instructions seem easy to follow. Tons of templates 😁 with all flosses and materials you need.

I can highly recommend this to beginners and advanced creators.

Thank you Netgalley for providing me with an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is a lovely book with a few patterns for each month of the year, along with some sweet projects. There are lots of photos and patterns, plus basic instructions. I would have preferred different winter patterns as they’re all nature based but there aren’t things like snowflakes, icicles and pine boughs for winter. Instead, it starts with spring herbs in January when herbs are far away for us here in Minnesota. That’s a small quibble though. It’s a creative, beautiful book.

I read a temporary digital version of this book for review.

A beautiful book for embroidery lovers, Higuchi has written and produced this book filled with lovely patterns and ideas for even the most novice embroiderer. The illustrations are excellent and she gives great gift ideas using the stitched pieces. It would be an invaluable asset to any crafters library as well as a lovely coffee table book.
The book is thematic of the year and includes small patterns which can be used individually or combined to create a bigger piece. I recommend Stitching through the Seasons and thank Netgalley and the publishers for the chance to read and review this advance copy.

This is such a classic resource for beginning and experienced stitchers. Yumiko Higuchi is routinely a solid choice for unique and beautiful patterns. I really love the varied techniques used and clear instructions provided for some of the more unusual stitches. The photographs (of patterns, finished projects, and stitch instructions) are clear and easy to understand. My favorite patterns are the surfers, mushroom wreath, and camping gear!

Some nice patterns. A good mix of floral and other fun motifs. There was also some nice tips about what stitches to use and how to use them.

This is a great little embroidery book. I'd recommend it for an advanced beginner since the stitch instruction is pretty vague. However, it is full of really beautiful patterns for flowers and fruit, also including items like little surfers, sewing tools, and camping items. In addition, there are a few projects included for ways to use your embroidery, like a wine bag, Christmas stocking, and pincushion, using the most basic of sewing skills.

I'm really looking forward to incorporating these patterns into my own embroidery projects. I've been looking for pretty flower patterns for a while, and these are sophisticated and lovely.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to review this lovely book.

Yumiko Higuchi has several books out focusing on simple designs that have a classic feel.

This book, Stitching Through the Seasons, includes several seasonal designs and projects. It features designs that are accessible to beginning stitchers as well as more experienced ones. The linework is simple but beautiful. Everything is explained well and there is a guide in the back discussing things like how to make certain stitches and make knots.

The designs in the book feel beautiful and modern while still being simple and classic.

Thank you to Shambhala Publications, Roost Books, and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC of this book.

This book is so fun! I love how clear the patterns are at the back, and I felt inspired seeing the different patterns on various objects like a wine bag or hat. I especially love the fall themed patterns as well, and I hope to try out some of the strategies for better stiches soon! A big thank you to the author, publisher, and Netgalley for an eArc of this book!

This book will be a stunning addition to your embroidery book collection. Every page is beautifully photographed and features monthly projects. I think there is a project in there for just about everyone, although true embroidery beginners might find the tasks a bit daunting.

In the back, there are quite a few reference photos, from stitches to knots, but you will still need some level above starter to be able to accomplish the stitches. .

All in all very inspiring and I will be thinking about making some of the patterns even after I close the book.

Thank you to NetGalley, Shambhala Publications, and Roost Books for the eArc in exchange for my review.
