Description

Finding that singular person we are meant to be with is never easy, but for Trauma Surgeon Andrea Taylor, finding the right one had been as elusive as catching a falling star. Past relationships had all ended in heartbreak as the demands of her career took precedence and finding the “right one” was the last thing on her mind as she started a new life in Texas until fate stepped in and Andi met the man who would change her life.

Tech entrepreneur Ryan Jacobs was smitten the moment he watched Andi save the life of an injured man and even her gentle rebuffs were not enough to dissuade Ryan from his pursuit of the woman he believed was the right one for him.

In the end what started as friendship turned into so much more. Their love seemed perfect, but life and love are never that simple as the couple was about to discover. Danger that had lurked in the shadows had followed Andi to Texas; danger she thought she was well past worrying about. Would their efforts to save Andi's life be enough?

Ryan is a kind of Gatsby-esque character (complete with West Egg mansion) and his romancing of surgeon Andi comes across as lovebombing. Stretch limo, really?

The early parts the book feel like a bunch of set pieces - the hockey, the horse riding, the home help, the fundraiser and so on which start the romance, with in-between indications of the brewing mystery.

One challenge with this genre is having plot points that are understandable to the reader, but still realistically possible and this is done quite well with Ryan’s technology.

Ryan is gorgeous, he just doesn’t feel very real. Andi has all the angst between her ambition and her biological clock/well-meaning friends. Without any spoilers, I loved that Andi’s clear head and bravery stick with her to the end.

An easy and breezy suspenseful romance.

Thank you NetGalley, and the author for the ARC.

This is an engaging romantic suspense. I enjoyed getting to know the couple. Even though Ryan seems too good to be true, he is quite appealing. Some exciting moments to keep one turning the pages. I appreciated the lack of intimate details. I am eager to read more by this author. Thanks to the publisher for providing a copy via NetGalley. My review is voluntary.
