Each chapter follows one of these six people, searching for their pieces to the puzzle.

Marcus--a man struggling against the reins of his job and his family.

Hunter--a man fighting for his mom's life and for revenge.

Lorena--an old friend of Hunter's, now a cop, trying to balance her own life with the job.

Andrea--Marcus's mom, missing her old life, one of secrets and action.

Linda--Hunter's mom, dealing with cancer, addiction, and a past deal with the devil.

Dennis--Hunter's friend, just out of prison, trying to put that life behind him.

These six people, seeming strangers to each other, find themselves sucked into a revenge scheme that will take some of their lives and all of their innocence.

"""Standal has great range as a writer...This is one of those series that really benefits from a reread of what came before and will make for a great trade paperback when the time comes...Juan Romera's art on this book is a perfect fit. The series is black and white, very fitting for the noir theme running throughout, and gives off a definite Walking Dead vibe.""

-Fanbase Press

""This is a CJ Standal's first comic, but it doesn't feel like his first comic.""

-This Freakin' Show

""The whole comic is starting to feel like The Wire, which isn't a bad thing and, certainly, the clean, crisp simple line-work of Juan Romero reads like a storyboard with clearly defined and distinguishable characters, which is important when you're offering multiple voices and views...Romera's artwork reminds us of David Mazzuchelli on Batman: Year One crossed with the late and lamented Darwyn Cook, all bold but simple brushstrokes and strong shadow work giving life to each panel.""

-Pipedream Comics

""As a whole, Rebirth of the Gangster is a fantastic noir series with a cool, nostalgic art style and an engaging crime story....I like the diversity that the comic creators are going for in ROTG. We have gotten the perspective of a black male in crime-related situations, a white male in crime-related situations, and now we are getting the perspective of a Latina female. As in all of the previous issues, C.J. Standal crafts these characters in a believable, down to earth and empathetic way, without parodies or caricatures. C.J. is good at breaking down people, and situations, to where we feel for them and can even imagine ourselves in their situations.""

-Comic Booked

""With an interesting cast, someone for everyone, Standal does an excellent job introducing us to some of the characters making sure to give us a lot of depth to flesh them out. Hopefully this is a standard for the series as we rarely see comics written with that as such a focus.

Romera's art brings it all to life and with a diverse cast, we also get diverse looks. Each character is unique in that department which is fantastic to see. Everyone is identifiable and standard cookie cutter designs that are used over and over between different characters are nowhere to be seen.

So, good story? Check. Diverse cast? Check. Solid art? Check. This is a comic to check out and support.""

I love having the first set of issues all together in one book! I'm really able to insert myself into the noir, gritty world of Marcus, Hunter, Lorena, Andrea, Linda, and Dennis as their lives further enmesh and entwine. And what a neat cover!
