Description
“Men cannot live without gods, Chansol,” he said quietly, “but gods cannot live without men, either.”
Five years ago, the mountain god’s daughter and the dragon of the Han River caused a terrible accident. Now, they decide to set things straight—by calling on two human girls that are somehow at the heart of it all. As a result, the shaman’s rebellious daughter Daseul, along with the scholar’s tomboy Wolhwa, are both thrust from their lives in Haedong Village and into the realm of the gods. But with an ominous curse, hidden enemies, and the rapid approach of aggressive Western forces, will the girls—and the gods—be able to discover the secrets of their entangled past before it’s too late?
In Third Moon Passing, Rina Olsen presents a world where ancient folk tales become a reality, where gods and humans alike walk the earth, and where history can change its course with the flick of a dragon’s tail.

Advance Praise
"Olsen has written a spellbinding novel, full of magical courtly intrigue, historical facts, and the intricacies of complicated family dynamics. Third Moon Passing is a strong debut that marries fantasy with historical fiction with a precise and skilled hand, and it is sure to captivate."
-Independent Book Review
"Rina Olsen paints a visually stunning world in Third Moon Passing and the coexistence of all who inhabit it. I love a story with strong, young female leads who, by their own choosing or not, take on the responsibility of their families to set everything right... Very highly recommended."
-Readers' Favorite
"The novel offers a unique and immersive reading experience. I highly recommend it to readers who enjoy fantasy novels with a blend of mythology and history, like the Percy Jackson books, where the workings of gods and other creatures also helped shape events that are discussed in history books."
-Literary Titan
"Third Moon Passing is a vividly written and captivating novel and amazing in the fact that the young author who wrote it is only sixteen years old. It really makes one stop and think about how much young people can accomplish if they really want to, and that is such a lovely thing for readers to find in the literary world."
