Description

When a storm blows out power to half the beach, all hell breaks loose.

Edisto Beach Police Chief Callie Morgan is called to investigate a break-in at El Marko's, the restaurant owned by the man who's unexpectedly become a real part of her life. Then she sees Mark slide an unspent .41 caliber bullet from the bar into his pocket. A bullet seemingly left as a calling card. A bullet he has no intention of mentioning to her.

Before they got involved, Callie knew ex-SLED agent Mark Dupree had a past, one he kept carefully buttoned-up and private around her. She understood, but now that past has come calling and his secrets could get someone killed. Suddenly, the man she thought she knew so well is gone, lost in secrets he won't share.

Soon more bullets are left as warnings, all on the doorsteps of people in Mark's life. Adding to the uncertainty and chaos is a new-to-town psychic, warning anyone who will listen that she sees danger around Mark, vowing that within six days someone will die.

The hell of it is, Callie isn't certain the psychic is wrong. She's got six days to unearth a past Mark doesn't want her to know and to protect the town she loves from whatever blew in with the storm.

Edisto Bullet is the newest in the Edisto Island Mysteries series from C. Hope Clark.

"A bullet is left behind in the wreckage of Mark's restaurant. When another bullet is found in a different place, Callie worries that Mark's past as a SLED agent is coming for him. And as the Police Chief it's her job to keep her island safe. Mark knows something but he's not talking.

This is a slow-burn police procedural from Clark. She keeps the tension and suspense high with the discovery of more bullets. And the conflict between Callie and Mark - neither wanting to stop protecting the other.
The ending is wild - especially since Clark has shown she is not afraid to kill a character.

More good Low Country crime fiction from Clark.

I just love this series and am so excited to see a new book!

Finally -- we learn more about Mark's background, how he ended up on Edisto and more importantly what happened the day his career ended. I was glad to see his story come out louder. And I just love these characters - how they work together and support each other. I don't know how she keeps coming up with these mysteries, but I hope they continue! Enjoyable beachy read, but they keep you intrigued and trying to solve the crimes yourself. And the ending will have you gasping - a loss, but kind of deserved but still surprising.

Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for a temporary, digital ARC in return for my review.

Another book in the Edisto Island Mysteries and this one does not disappoint. Our main character (Callie) is investigating cases of bullets left at places of people that she knows; also all the clues are linked to her current boyfriend. If you have not been to this part of South Carolina, you will want to go after reading the descrptions in this book. Highly recommended!

I read this series of books because I like Edisto. I like this author. This talented author has written another page turner in a setting that is familiar to me. Secrets and red herrings kept me guessing...do not try to discern the ending too early. Not possible...at least, it was not for me. Realistic characters in this story kept me wondering if this could be a movie for television. Yes...it could...curl up in front of a warm fire, in a comfy chair, and go on this adventure with Clark in EDISTO BULLET...even the title is intriguing...enjoy..>Thanks Netgalley.
