Description

“Anne from green gables meets Narnia.”

“If you loved The Harry Potter series or The Chronicles of Narnia, you also will find this book very satisfying!”

Lila and Nina are sisters, living in a post-apocalyptic paradise where they have been brought up by their loving father, Babu, to respect the other species they share their world with, while never encroaching on their territory. Despite being mocked by other children for their face marks and their father's perceived lower status as a Peels Collector, they have built a close collection of friends, known as the Group of Six. With them to rely on, the sisters never expect things to change.

But change is coming.

One day, the group discovers a huge, golden feather stuck in the branches of the tree that Lila and Nina’s modest cabin is built against. The feather, from a Chuppy, is both puzzling and worrying because interaction with other species is strictly taboo, and if one has nested in their tree they face being forced to move house, the last thing any of them want.

Keeping the discovery of the feather a secret between the Group of Six, it soon becomes apparent that there is more to it than meets the eye, and as more secrets are steadily uncovered, it becomes clear that this will be a source of unending problems for them.

Can Lila and Nina find a way to face their fears, deal with a bully who could ruin everything, and keep their secret from the rest of the village? The price of failure promises to be high and isn't one that either of them can contemplate.
