As I read this book I was transported into Vivian's life and family. I felt I was walking alongside her in her battle against breast cancer. She admitted her doubts as well as her triumphs. I would highly recommend this book to any family facing a cancer diagnosis, especially breast cancer.

Warrior in Pink is a fascinating, challenging adventure into a life of faith. When cancer strikes a family, it shakes seemingly sturdy foundations to the seams. In my family, only one person to my knowledge has had cancer—my grandfather. He died from it when I was 16 months old, so I don’t remember him even though I’ve always been told that he loved spending time with me. As the years have gone on, I’ve seen other people around me get cancer, and through that I know how devastatingly it can affect families.
When she receives a call saying “You have cancer”, Vivian Mabuni’s life suddenly does a complete 180° turn. Instead of looking forward to a happy family Christmas, she sees rows of doctor appointments, scans, possible surgeries, and still-unknown procedures that will leave her physically and emotionally drained. Struggling to push aside thoughts of what could happen, she and her husband try to focus on creating a beautiful Christmas for their family. Even so, the should-be joyous festivities are subdued by the painful question of how their children will take the news once they break it to them.
Vivian Mabuni describes vividly how her family was thrown into emotional turmoil at the first knowledge that she had cancer, and how it completely changed her family forever. Through living her story with her, we see how hard it is not only for the sufferer but for those suffering alongside her. Throughout Warrior in Pink, Vivian weaves in Biblical truths that strengthened and helped her endure the trial. This story is an inspiration and a challenge to live fully in the life that we have, and trust the Lord when the path grows too dark to see.
