Description
"This delightful exploration of patterns works well as a read-aloud and complements early childhood lessons on patterns." —School Library Journal, STARRED REVIEW
“A lovely and beautifully written story that encourages kids to hone their own artistic senses." —Angela Dominguez, NYT bestselling author of the Stella Díaz series
I see patterns everywhere, patterns big and small.
They fill the pages of this book, can you find them all?
Identifying patterns is an essential part of childhood development. They help children learn how to sequence, use reasoning skills and make logical connections and predictions.
Patterns, Patterns, Everywhere draws attention to the patterns that exist all around us, from the ocean’s coral reefs to the jungle to our dinner table. Children are invited to look for the patterns hidden in the layered illustrations and encouraged to find not just the patterns they can see, but also patterns they can hear, feel, and create.

This beautifully illustrated books is the perfect introduction into patterns for children. Each page colorfully displays a series of patterns to point out and discuss with your children. It is fun to see how many patterns they can discover on their own!
The everyday world has so many patterns, how many can you find?
Thank you to NetGalley and The Collective Book Studio for allowing me to read and review Patterns Patterns Everywhere!
This is a lovely book that will make you look for patterns around you in every day life.
I liked the illustrations and how they show different landscapes.
Thanks NetGalley for this ARC.
A really sweet and well done book, with simple, easy but engaging words and some beautiful illustrations coming together.
We can’t think of a better way to combine logical reasoning, sequencing, art appreciation, and family bonding than this delightful picture book all about patterns!
Fittingly, “Patterns, Patterns Everywhere” uses a lyrical rhyme-scheme for children to anticipate the last word in the second phrase. Menedez chose creative fonts to visually demonstrate the content such as caps for BIG and a cascading font size for crashing waves.
Watercolor illustrations give a soft place for the eye to fall as children find the patterns in different habitats around the world and in various locations in their neighborhood.
Children aren’t spoon-fed what each pattern is, so parents and children have the space to find and discuss together, thus leading to more conversations and connections as they read. Furthermore, Menedez provides an information page in the back to give language to the different patterns found in nature, math, art, music, and in everyday life.
A lovely tribute to learning and pattern recognition. The art was gorgeous. The rhyming verses had a beautiful, singsongy flow. And the overall message was educational—teaching young readers to notice patterns in the world around us.
This is not your typical surface level childrens' book about patterns, but it instead introduces the many different places patterns can be found-- in nature, music, vibration, words, everyday surroundings and more. This would be a great book for children who understand the basics of what a pattern is and would generate great discussion of where else patterns can be found. It would cultivate critical thinking and be a valuable asset to a classroom or home library. My only wish is that there were more examples of patterns that children could see in the illustrations!
