Firstly, a big big thank you to the author, Tyler Hilton, the illustrator, Eugenia Nobati, the publisher, Familius, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this children's picture book, Daddy: Live in Concert. After coming across the book and thinking the cover was cute, I noticed the name Tyler Hilton and it struck me as familiar, and then I remembered - I had jammed out many a time, windows down, to Tyler Hilton's songs and still have his CD. I ran to get it and listened as I read, so I have to say this was a pleasant surprise and I got to listen to his music for the first time in a little while. It was just as good as I remember!

Onto the book review, this book is a super cute bedtime story with lovely illustrations and a sweet story. The story itself is a rhyming ballad written in an ABCB rhyme scheme, which is quite clever as it's a rhyme scheme more closely associated with music and the story is about a concert. I really liked this extra touch once I noticed - and the lines themselves do flow very well and the story is well-paced. A small girl is invited to a concert, and discovers the artist is the one and only - Dad! After singing her favorite songs with his guitar, the audience gets quite sleepy and ends the night with one last song. I would definitely recommend this one for children aged 0-5, who will really enjoy the colors of the illustrations, the rhyming pattern, and the context of the story!

The cover is very fun and light, and drew my attention immediately. I love the bright sign with the title, which really pulls forward the "concert" element of the story in a clever way. I also really enjoyed the illustrations throughout, especially the ones with backgrounds of the house and the details. All the details made the family's house feel real and loving. Thanks again for the opportunity to read and remember some music I really enjoy, and I'll definitely be sharing this book with the little ones in my life upon release!

I added this to the list of physical books to get my babies straight away. I love the story and the illustration through the book. It’s different from other children’s books that I’ve read before. There is a typo on page 14 in the last line. Besides that it had my husband and I smiling while reading the book to our babies. Our son never took his eyes off the book once. He immediately fell asleep not even a minute after I was finished. The daddy in the book kind of resembles my husband as well. Plus my husband sings with his guitar all the time. So this is going to be the perfect Father’s Day gift from our babies.

Decorated with truly divine illustrations, 'Daddy: Live in Concert' sweetly explores the magnificent impact that a loving, special parent can have on a child. The most simple of displays of love can be world changing for kids as they're developing. A book that makes the case for present, fun parenting, something small in execution but oh the smiles and laughter it brings. A perfect bedtime story.

This is a really fun book that marries the magic of concerts and power of family. The father in this story gives an amazing concert to his daughter, and it absolutely makes her night. I really hope (and believe) that this book gets kids to be excited about concerts that they are attending, or to be inspired to attend concerts. However, the specific concert in this book illustrates a heartwarming familial connection. It's clear to readers how special and important Daddy's singing is to this book's little girl, and it truly makes readers very happy to see this. Lastly, this book is written in such a way that it makes for a perfect bedtime story, or anytime story. The story ends with the little girl getting a final song and being tucked into bed, which is an ideal ending for a bedtime story. Bravo!

A cute rhyming tale that combines bedtime with the experience of a music concert. With the popularity of singers and concerts for young children, this story is a cute way to involve younger children in a concert-like experience just for them.

This is a perfect book for any young child that idolizes their father. The father makes his child’s day by putting on a concert just for them and singing their favorite songs, Wheels on the Bus, Old McDonald, and Twinkle Little Star. I have a 2 and 5 year old that absolutely loved this book! I plan on purchasing this book as a Father’s Day present. Tyler Hilton nailed it with this book!

Thank you to NetGalley and Familius for the advanced reader copy. This book will be published on April 8, 2025

⭐️ 5/5
Children's Illustrated, Parenting & Families

A silly, engaging children’s story of a goofy dad putting on a “live concert” before bedtime for his child. This was a great display of “make believe” while also making the child feel special and loved. A strong family bond is obvious with dad involving his child with the entire charade, and mom and baby not being left out either. What a well-done example of the importance of being together and creating these meaningful bonds and memories. The illustrations are detailed and bright, and so fun!

This will make a great book to add to storytime during the bedtime routine, especially for those who love or play music. It will also be a great gift for Father’s Day!

Many thanks to Familius for providing me this advanced reader copy of the book for review consideration via NetGalley! All opinions are my own.

This is a great book for younger music classrooms or other early readers. It has a cute rhyming structure and could lead to fun discussions and sing-a-longs of familiar children's songs. This book could also serve as a great teaching tool for parents and teachers to share appropriate theater or concert etiquette, as well as for providing ideas for imaginative play and family bonding. There were some broad and subtle visual gags seen through the illustrations that kids and adults may enjoy discovering.

Could you possibly love Tyler Hilton more? Thank you Familius & NetGalley for the advanced copy of Daddy: Live in Concert!

Daddy: Live in Concert is the sweetest bedtime story to share - especially with those who have a music artist in the family. The artwork is engaging and accompanies the sweet storyline perfectly, allowing you to point out so many cute details to your little ones while reading. My favorite secondary characters would be the black cat, stuffed frog prince, and bunny slippers! I can't wait to purchase copies for all the little ones in my life.

My son really enjoyed this book. It helped having Wheels on the Bus as the main song. As a parent, I love books that celebrate dad’s. Our son is a mummy’s boy so it’s nice to have stories that help dad feel special too. This book brings to life a memory that (hopefully) most kids will have with their dads in a lovely way. The words and sentences flowed well and it was easy to read out loud in a way that felt natural. The art work and colour palette are lovely.

What a sweet story about the parent-child bond. This one will be fun for kids and will encourage parents to create magic for their children by simply “elevating” favorite activities (in this case, reframing the singing of lullabies as a concert). It’s a great reminder of how our kids view us and the ways that we can make them feel special and seen. Love it!

Thank you to Net Galley, Familius and the author/illustrator for the early copy in exchange for an honest review!

Heartwarming, tender, and full of sweet surprises—this charming story hits all the right notes.

In Daddy Live in Concert, Tyler Hilton beautifully captures the magic found in the simple moments between a father and daughter. The story begins when a mysterious ticket slides beneath a little girl’s door, inviting her to a special private concert. What unfolds is an endearing performance filled with love, laughter, and the kind of warmth that only a daddy can provide.

I adored the way Hilton brought to life the wonder through a child’s eyes—every page felt like a soft melody of love and comfort. The illustrations perfectly complement the gentle, joyful tone of the narrative, adding to the overall charm.

This is a wonderful read-aloud book, perfect for bedtime routines or any cozy parent-child moment. As a parent myself, the story resonated deeply, reminding me that the greatest shows are often right at

Mother of two here! We loved the way the author, Tyler Hilton, hilariously set the stage for a fun, at-home concert. As a parent, I know the struggle to make the mundane (and sometimes long) days at home more exciting. I loved the goofy dad’s willingness to put on a show, for the entertainment of his wife and children. A rhyming children’s book is always a major plus for our family, too. The illustrations were absolutely adorable. My children and I loved spotting the different stuffed animals attending the show alongside the daughter. This book was original and clever, I would highly recommend it to any family with elementary-age kids.

Thank you to NetGalley and Familius for this eARC!

This book is perfect for ages 2-4 years old! The illustrations are fun and vibrant. The book glows nicely and has a rhyming scheme. My 2.5yo loved it and proceeded to have us sing the songs as well after they were mentioned in the book. It was super fun and I loved how into it she was. This book would make a great baby shower or Father’s Day gift.

Spectacular Performance by Dad

This book was such a display of a Dad being goofy to entertain his family making core memories.

The illustrations were of a realistic family home and prepping for a night of at home entertainment. They were fun and animated.

This would be a great book to give to a a child for their nighttime routine. Especially one that is a music fan.

I received a copy of this book from Tyler Hilton. I am voluntarily leaving a review. All opinions are my own.

This rhyming picture book is about a fun moment between a father and a child. It’s a bedtime concert just for her, with a pillow right in front that’s been reserved! It’s really sweet. The rhymes sometimes felt a little bit forced., And the meter skipped a bit. There were a few times when I stumbled and stuttered over the words when I was trying to read it aloud. But the story was so sweet, it made up for most of the technical imperfections in the verse.

The illustrations are fun and playful, with just the right mix of “this is a real concert!” and “… In the family living room!” In other words, there was a feeling of both the excitement of attending a real life concert and the reminder that it’s a playful, fun, family time at home.

Overall, the book reminded me of the performances, my kiddos put on for me in our living room, and I loved the way the story flipped so that it was Daddy putting on the show, not the other way around. And I love the way the illustrations captured this whimsical moment with stuffed animal audience members that “come to life” to participate with the little girl in appreciating the show, while still maintaining their status of beloved stuffies.

Daddy: Live in Concert is an absolute triumph — a heartfelt, hilarious, and unforgettable tribute to the highs, lows, and pure chaos of parenthood, all wrapped up in the vibrant energy of a live performance. From the opening note, the story pulses with raw emotion, blending humor and honesty in a way that feels both larger-than-life and deeply personal.

Whether it’s the laugh-out-loud anecdotes about diaper disasters and sleepless nights or the bittersweet ballads of growing pains and fleeting moments, Daddy: Live in Concert strikes every emotional chord with perfect pitch. The storytelling is rich with vivid snapshots — the squeak of tiny shoes on a stage floor, the hushed anticipation before a punchline lands, the bittersweet smiles exchanged between generations in the audience. You live each moment right alongside the characters, swept up in the music, the memories, and the unmistakable magic of family.

This isn’t just a performance; it’s a love letter — to fathers, to children, and to the beautiful, messy symphony of life that binds them together. With wit, warmth, and a touch of nostalgia, Daddy: Live in Concert delivers a standing ovation-worthy experience that lingers in your heart long after the final curtain falls.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A soaring, laugh-out-loud, tear-in-your-eye masterpiece. An instant classic for anyone who knows that sometimes the biggest stages are the ones inside our own homes.
