Online marketing is something no business owner and serious bloggers can afford to ignore. To help you out, Meyerson has enlisted the help of online marketing superstars, such as Brian Clark, Sonia Simone, Eric Ward, and Kim Garst. Each of them has penned a short but informative chapter about their area of expertise. These chapters are divided in three section. The first focuses on the mindset you need to adopt and the strategy you need to create before you start to marketing. The second section is all about how to increase traffic to your website. The last, and longest, one, discusses how to leverage apps and tools, such as videos, podcasts, email lists, and social media channels. The book covers all the basis of online marketing, which makes it a must read for marketing newbies. If you’re not new to marketing, instead, you’ll probably be familiar with most of the tips and strategies outlined here. I was, but I still discovered some new tools to make the creation and sharing of marketing content easier. Everything is explained very clearly too. When a book has so many authors, one or two chapters are usually more boring, more poorly-written, and less informative than the others. But not here. These authors are all online marketing superstars, and they know how to teach you the basics while keeping you engaged and glued to the page
I am impressed with the book. Initially I thought it was simply a collection of blog posts, but the content was to the point and insightful for social media marketing. All major social platforms are covered, but I enjoyed the suggested methods and strategies put forward by various experts. There was real actionable advice beyond absolute beginner level.
Loved this book! I am familiar with a lot of the authors through social media and loved all the jammed packed information that each chapter presented. It was like having an individual coaching session with each author. This is a book that I will definitely be referring to time and time again.
Firstly ignore the title and its hype-filled words - this book is much better that! Normally books with similar titles suck more than a shop full of vacuum cleaners. This is different! Essentially for a relatively low price (less than a dollar a chapter) you get 23 concisely written chapters from various online marketers, giving you a rapid-fire overview about many aspects of online marketing. By gum it does work too. Naturally the chapters cannot tell you everything about their subjects yet it can give you a great taste or overview, allowing you to get a foothold and then build up your knowledge as you require. Despite not needing a book like this as the subjects were not “new” or “confusing”, this reviewer did find the collection of various bits of wisdom to be a great consolidated resource. A timely, helpful reminder if can call it that. It feels suitable for both beginner and more experienced pro alike. It just needs to give you a tip here, a web address there or something and you’ve easily got your money’s worth. The authors carefully manage to balance their text so that it is not patronisingly simple for the more-experienced reader and neither is it a “geek-fest” for the uninitiated. A great balance has been reached and it feels as if the book is just oozing out information through each and every page. There truly is not that much more to add. It is a great little resource covering everything from building your digital media platform and smart online marketing to traffic building and utilising the latest technologies and tools. What is there not to like? Even if you are sceptical as to whether you have a need for this, go and check it out at a bookstore. Success Secrets of the Online Marketing Superstars, edited by Mitch Meyerson and published by Entrepreneur Press. ISBN 9781599185583, 328 pages. YYYYY
There is something for everyone in this book. Online Marketing Superstars, by Mitch Meyerson brings together a group of people that know their stuff. I learned something in every chapter. Regardless if you, or someone on your team takes the ideas, checklists, suggestions offered, everything is in one place to go back to whenever it's needed. My two biggest take aways: 1. Most of the content is timeless, you can use it today, in a year, and in 2 years. 2. I used the information in each chapter to do a business check-in, what's done well, what can be improved, new questions to ask and consider.
An excellent read for anyone in marketing and those who wish to work within the field. Highly recommended,
If you are a small business or an entrepreneur and want to learn how others are using social media and digital communications to support their goals then this is an interesting read. The book is essentially a collection of essays written by entrepreneurs who are active online and who regularly write on the topics they cover, so many of the names may be familiar to you (most of the contributors are from the US). I would recommend this book to be one that you read the chapters that are most interesting to you as each chapter refelcts the style of the contributors. There is an occasional chapter where the contributor is a little self promotional, but do not put you off reading the book as there are some worthwhile tips.
