Description

For fans of Megan Lally and Kara Thomas, a twisty thriller about a Texas teen accused of murder who's desperate to clear her name.

All it takes to ruin someone’s life is the stroke of a key. Just ask Iris Henley. Her life is destroyed when someone posts an anonymous message on her high school’s subreddit thread: “Iris Henley is a killer. I’ve been too scared to come forward until now, but I saw her murder Rocky and Lynette last summer.”

Just like that, Iris loses everything. Her reputation. Her friends. Her hope of getting into college on scholarship. Even, possibly, her freedom, once the police start to investigate. After all, she’s the perfect suspect: Rocky was her boyfriend, and Lynette was her ex-best friend—and the girl he was cheating on her with. But Iris didn’t do it, and now it’s up to her to clear her name by finding out who did—before it’s too late.

Propulsive, sharp, and absolutely twisty from the New York Times bestselling author who brought readers the Veronica Mars duology, Jennifer Graham's YA thriller is unputdownable.

This was super good. I really liked the main character and I liked the writing a lot. The book was easy to get through and it definitely had enough twists to make it entertaining. The plot was great and I was hooked from start to finish.

I loved this novel and powered through it quickly! Iris is a cheerleader at Varda High School. Her boyfriend, Rocky and new girlfriend, Lynette are both dead; he shot her and killed himself. Now she's getting messages: "Iris is a murderer--she shot both." But that night she had 17 girls over for a sleepover so she's not sure what's going on. Is she being targeted for some reason or is she somehow involved?? It's a wild ride as we see her take comfort in new on-line friend, Jonah who always seems to be there when she needs sympathy. It's one of those books that had my head spinning like the Exorcist!

4.5/5

Devoured this book - it was an easy read and a real page-turner. Iris has been through a lot: her boyfriend's betrayal, the murder-suicide of the boyfriend and her ex-best friend, and now, a random post accuses her of being the murderer of her boyfriend and ex-best friend, causing her to be subjected to cyberbullying, taunts, rumors, and the cruelty of adolescent behavior. The twists and turns weren't that hard to predict by any means, but I could feel Iris's heartbreak with every new reveal and betrayal. Yet she is brave and refuses to be knocked down by her enemies. This girl really couldn't catch a break, and I was really rooting for her to finally feel at peace. I really hope she is able to move far away when she grows up, because that town sucks.

For a mystery/thriller, this was very well-paced and engaging, with action at every turn - I was never bored.

Thank you to St. Martin's and NetGalley for the ARC!

The Fall of Iris Henley follows Iris after someone posts an anonymous message claiming she killed her boyfriend and best friend last summer. Her life is ruined. She loses everything and mattes are made worse when the police start to reinvestigate what they believed was a murder-suicide. Iris must clear her name and find out who did it before it’s too late.

This was such a fun mystery/thriller. I honestly had so many guesses for the twist, and I was wrong on all counts. But it makes so much sense now that I know! I really loved how the author kept me guessing and on my toes the entire time. It’s super fast-paced and gripping and really well-written. The ending was sooo good and stressful. I really love how it ended.

I really enjoyed Iris as a main character. She has been through and goes through a lot in the book and she still manages to be brave enough to face her classmates and these challenging situations. I really love that she had a supportive friend group and the little romance subplot was very nice. I enjoyed the strained relationship with her family and how she had to overcome that. Everyone was really well characterized!

If you love murder mysteries with a shocking ending you won’t see coming, I’d definitely recommend checking this one out!

What do you do when someone posts anonymously that you were actually the one responsible for the deaths of your boyfriend (who was cheating on you) and your (ex) best friend?

Well, if you're Iris Henley, high school cheerleader from Texas who is just trying to get your life back on track six months after the fact, you may end up watching those who you thought were your friends start to look at you differently, you might start to suspect everyone around you as being the original poster, and you might just freak out as your life starts to fall apart.

This was a very binge-able read. It truly was unputdownable and I read it in a matter of hours, desperate to get to the reveal of who was behind all the things (Thankfully I had enough restraint not to peek at the last page!).

I had lots of guesses and it was wonderful to see where I was spot-on and where I completely missed the mark.

I enjoyed this very much and would definitely check out other books by this author.

If you watched The High School Catfish and wondered 'Hey, what if it escalated?', then this book will satisfy your curiosity.

Iris Henley, the It-Girl, has everything she's ever wanted. She's got friends, she's a cheerleader and quite popular, and her reputation didn't suffer after her boyfriend was found dead and ruled to be a murderer. Yikes, right? How could she not have known of his tendencies? Did she know he was cheating on her with the girl he murdered before self-exiting?

Well, one of her schoolmates certainly thinks she did. And they think she was the one to kill them both. Because that makes the most sense, right?

Now, Iris needs to navigate this extremely difficult situation, where everybody thinks she's done it. And she has to prove her innocence, while the accusations seem to grow and personally target her.

The Fall of Iris Henley was an interesting read with a lot of twists, some of which were impossible to guess, but looking back, make a lot of sense. We have betrayals, more catfishes, higher stakes and we get to fall for the villains.

Overall, 10/10.

Holy cow!!! I received this book from NetGalley for an honest review. This book was incredible. Twists, turns and an incredible ending.
The book is about Iris Henley. She’s a senior in high school. A year prior her boyfriend Rocky and ex-best friend Lynette were found dead inside a cabin on Rocky’s parents property. Both were shot and the police ruled it a murder-suicide. Then on an app the students use called Sekrit - someone posts that Iris is a murderer. That she killed Rocky and Lynette because he was cheating on her. That’s where things go off the rails for poor Iris.
This is definitely going on my list of books that people must read. for 2025. I know it won’t be published until 2026. The plot and characters keep the reader engaged.
At the start of every chapter, it tell you the date and time and where the action is taking place.
This is the first book I’ve read by Jessica Graham and I’m hoping there are more coming.
10/10. Highly recommend.

Wow! JG does it again. This story is so well-written that you feel every bit of it. I gasped. I laughed. I felt Iris’s anger. I was shocked. Then proud. This is one of those stories that—not only has an ending that ties everything together—but actually demonstrates character growth and deeper meaning. I couldn’t put this book down!

Highly recommend this book!

THE FALL OF IRIS HENLEY by Jennifer Graham (Feb 24, 2026)

Thank you Netgalley and Wednesday books for the earc

When someone anonymously posts that Iris Henley is a k*ller, Iris loses everything. Iris didn't do anything, but being the girlfriend and ex bestfriend of the d*ad, she's the perfect suspect. Now, she must clear her name before it's too late.
THE FALL OF IRIS HENLEY is a YA mystery/thriller. This propulsive book is fast-paced. It's a quick and easy read that I binged in under a day. I was hooked. I just had to know the whodunit...who posted about Iris? Now, I did guess who posted it, but how it went from there...I never would have imagined.
I felt so bad for Iris and how everyone turned on her. Like, she had already been through so much and then someone wanted to dredge up the past. Absolutely rude.
I really liked this. It was intriguing. Predictable yet not. And so, so good. THE FALL OF IRIS HENLEY is full of secrets, drama, and shocks. A must-read for thriller lovers of all ages.

I'm a big fan of the high school murder mystery genre, and this was an excellent example! Iris Henley, top cheerleader, has been trying to move on after the tragic death of her boyfriend, Rocky, and her best friend, Lynette. The two of them had been seeing each other behind her back when the police believe Rocky killed Lynette and then himself in a murder suicide. Prior to her death, Lynette had been having some issues with drugs, which Iris reported to the cheerleading coach, resulting in Lynette being kicked off the team and Iris being promoted. Iris has been doing her best to move on, by texting a friend from camp, Jonah, and hanging with her two best friends, Sophie and Hayden. Unfortunately, a post from rockytruther2001 on the school gossip app, Sekrit, accuses Iris of being a murderer. The police reopen the investigation, meaning that Iris is being questioned anew, and conflicting accounts of where she was the night of the murder make things look not so great. Another post on Sekrit outing some of her friends' drama means that Sophie and Hayden turn on Iris, leaving her feeling more alone and friendless than ever. The only person even remotely willing to be seen with her is her neighbor, Max Fisher. Iris doesn't know who to trust, and the final twist is one that you won't see coming. Iris is a well-developed version of a high school character, and the story really does encapsulate the drama you'd expect. There is a lot of suspense, twists, and turns, and I couldn't wait to see who was behind everything. Fans of the genre will definitely enjoy this story!

I want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart to the author, St. Martin's Press, and Netgalley for allowing me the privilege of being able to arc read this book. I really appreciate it.

I really enjoyed this book, this book is most definitely a YA read, but if you enjoy a little mystery and a little spooky/ thriller but tamer than the adult genre you're going to love this book! Its gives off a combination of Gossip Girl/ Mean Girls, mixed with Scream vibes in the most delightful way possible!

I loved Iris, she's very much so such a very real feeling character and you're absolutely going to feel for her situation. She's made mistakes but they're no different than something you or I might have made at her age. I do really hate how there was barely any adult in her corner at all. It was very much so oh well other people think so, so you're going to be punished despite us having zero actual concrete reason too. I also really loved how the author showed just how dangerous and toxic social media really can be, it's a really great reminder of what damage can be done using it. The twists in this book though, there's more than one! Were truly so incredible and well thought out! When you finally discover all that's really gone on, I promise you'll never forget this story!

If you're looking for a good tamer mystery with spooky/ thriller elements, or if you're in the US range and want to experiment with a spooky, mystery thriller you're going to absolutely love this!

Thank you so very much again from the bottom of my heart to the author, St. Martin's Press and Netgalley for allowing me the absolute privilege of being able to arc read this book. I truly appreciate it! I can't wait until it releases to bring home for my daughter who's more in this age bracket and I know will absolutely love this book just like I did!

This was my first book by Jennifer Graham and I absolutely devoured it. I loved the premise of the story when I applied for the ARC and the book entirely captivated me. The pacing was done well and I liked how it gave time stamps and locations. I found myself highlighting characteristics of the main characters & their “friends” to see if I could figure it out before the big reveal. Plot twist! Wow. This was really well done. I will absolutely be picking up more Jennifer Graham books in the future.

Iris Henley is trying to navigate high school after her cheating boyfriend allegedly commits a murder/suicide with her best friend. Things quickly take a turn when an anonymous person makes a post on social media accusing her of being the real killer. She begins to investigate, wanting to uncover the truth. Is it a murder/suicide like the police first ruled? Was she too drunk that night to remember killing them? Is it someone else entirely?

This was a really exciting mystery/thriller with some great twists that I did not see coming. It is a really fun and exciting read, and I highly recommend when it comes out on Feb 24!

Than you Wednesday Books and Netgalley for this eARC, these opinions are my own. This one had me hooked!! Iris Henly is trying to get her life back to normal after her boyfriend turned out to be a murderer and a cheater. Months ago he murdered her ex best friend Lynnette, who he was also cheating on her with, and then killed himself. Now Senior year is starting and she just wants to enjoy her time with her friends and talk to her crush that she met at camp. While at a party someone posts that Iris killed Rocky and Lynnette. Now people are starting to look at her differently, some believe she is a murderer. But she would never. Except the night they died she died black out a little so maybe? And also no one knows what she did to Lynnette months before she died. When more rumors come out it quickly becomes clear that no one believes she’s innocent, even her family seems to have their doubts. In order to prove she’s innocent she’ll have to find this anonymous poster and figure out what happened the night they died. But who can she trust? And who would hate her so much to ruin her life? And what if digging shows her something she doesn’t want to see? I was enthralled with this one! There’s a couple different mysteries going on and they all kept me guessing! Didn’t see the end coming but once you get there you’re like oh that makes sense! Jennifer Graham delivers a gripping mystery that is unputdownable from start to finish!

Jennifer Graham has once again yanked me straight into chaos and refused to let me go until I was emotionally compromised and slightly suspicious of everyone I know. Five stars, of course—just like all her previous books—and I flew through this one like I had nothing better to do (which, let’s be real, I didn’t once the first chapter hit).

Iris Henley’s life implodes the second someone posts “Iris Henley is a killer” on her high school’s sketchy encrypted app. One post, and poof—bye-bye friends, family, reputation, and cheer dreams. Oh, and now the cops are side-eyeing her because her boyfriend Rocky and ex-best friend Lynette (who just happened to be cheating with him) were both murdered last spring. Messy doesn’t even begin to cover it.

From there, it’s a full-on spiral of suspicion, secrets, and digital witch-hunt energy. I had no clue who did what or why until the very end—and I loved that. Every time I thought I had it figured out, Jennifer just smiled and said “guess again girlfriend.”

The writing? Gorgeous and sharp, like every sentence could cut glass. There’s this line that perfectly sums up the dark little feeding frenzy of the story:

“When there’s blood in the water the first to feed are the sharks, but surely in the mess of bone and tissue to follow, there are other creatures that take a bite.”

Tell me that doesn’t belong framed somewhere in a museum of poetic dread.

And then there’s the heartbreak—because of course there’s messy teenage love tangled in all the destruction. One line punched me right in my tender, nostalgic little heart:

“I hate that I’m begging for what I’m owed, I hate that after all of this, after everything he did, some soft messy heartbroken part of me still exists. I hate that I was taken in by another monster in the form of a beautiful boy.”

Ugh. Gut. Punch.

In short: The Fall of Iris Henley is what happens when gossip, guilt, and grief all get Wi-Fi access. Twisty, emotional, and addicting—I devoured it and immediately texted three friends to say, “read this so I can scream about it properly.” Truly loved this one.

*Special thanks to NetGalley and the publisher, Wednesday Books, for sharing this eARC with me in exchange for my honest opinion. This review is based off of an uncorrected proof which did not sway my opinion either way. You MUST “add to cart” as soon as February 24, 2026 hits!

The Fall of Iris Henley by Jennifer Graham.
Published by St. Martin’s Press | Wednesday Books, and thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for my gifted ARC.

I sat down to read this thinking I’d knock out a few chapters before bed, maybe sip some tea, maybe feel a little superior to fictional teenagers who don’t understand consequences. Instead, Jennifer Graham grabbed me by my emotional collar and dragged me through one girl’s social, personal, and academic downfall like it was a competitive sport. By midnight I wasn’t even pretending I’d stop. By 2 a.m. I was whispering “oh absolutely not” into the dark every time someone turned on Iris yet again. Cozy reading experience? Yes. Cozy feelings? Absolutely not.

The book starts with one anonymous post accusing Iris of murdering her boyfriend Rocky and ex best friend Lynette. One single post. One line of text. And suddenly Iris is the town villain, the school pariah, the girl no one wants to partner with in class because they don’t want to “be next.” The speed at which the world drops her is so believable it made me want to call my high school guidance counselor and apologize for ever thinking she overreacted about digital footprints.

Jennifer Graham captures that awful slingshot feeling of being fifteen to eighteen in the age of instant judgment. The book is fast, sharp, and mean in the way real high school can be. Everyone has opinions, none of them have facts, and the adults are mostly decorative. The police? Flustered. The parents? Disappointing, and that is me being polite. The friends? An endangered species.

Iris herself is the perfect narrator for this spiral. She’s hurting, proud, impulsive, guilt ridden, insecure, brave in bursts, and too trusting in all the wrong places. She’s a mess, but she’s trying. Watching her cling to whatever scraps of normal she can find while the walls close in is both painful and addictive. Even when she doubts herself, you don’t.

The tension works because the world around her feels so viciously plausible. Graham doesn’t exaggerate teenage cruelty; she just amplifies the speed and the spotlight. The gossip app feels exactly like the kind of platform schools would swear they had “under control” while absolutely failing to monitor anything. Every new post feels like a grenade rolled across cafeteria tiles.

And the mystery? Delicious. You get your red herrings, your suspicious side characters, your morally gray classmates, your chilling “wait, what?” moments, and your steadily shrinking list of people Iris can trust. Some twists I saw coming, others smacked me in the face with the energy of someone slapping a door shut before you reach the handle.

The line that stuck with me hardest, because it captures the whole unraveling in one breath, was:
“All it takes to ruin someone’s life is the stroke of a key.”
If that isn’t the thesis of modern adolescence, I don’t know what is.

By the end, I was rooting for Iris with the fervor of someone defending a younger sibling. She deserved better from about 90 percent of the people in her orbit, yet she manages some actual growth amid all the chaos. The reveal hits right, the emotional fallout lands, and the final chapters give her the footing she’s been clawing toward since page one.

Graham balances twisty plotting with character work that actually means something. Beneath the murder mystery is a story about grief, reputation, shame, pressure, and the way one choice can echo far louder online than it ever could in person. It’s angry, raw, and, at times, heartbreakingly human.

If you like thrillers where every chapter ends with “okay but one more,” this book is your next problem. If you like stories where you don’t know who to trust until the last possible moment, this one will feed you well. And if you enjoy yelling “why are teenagers like this?” into your pillow at two in the morning, welcome to your next five star read.

Review: I couldn't imagine enduring the grief of losing my ex-best friend and cheating boyfriend, only to be falsely accused of their murders just five months later. My heart immediately went out to Iris the moment the fateful social media post was introduced. This book hooked me way faster than I expected. Right from the start there’s this creeping tension that just keeps building, and before you know it you’re halfway through without even meaning to be. The pacing is fast in the best way, and every chapter ends with something that kinda forces you to keep going.

The characters feel real enough that you actually care what happens to them, and a couple of them surprised me more than once. The author does a great job keeping things sharp and tense without overdoing it. Even when things slow down for a minute, you can still feel that edge in the background.

The twists were aeriously good. Not the kind where you roll your eyes - more like the kind that make you stop for a second and go “oh damn, okay.” The whole story fits together nicely, and by the time I reached the ending, it felt earned and super satisfying.

If you’re in the mood for a thriller that moves fast, keeps you guessing, and gives you characters you actually want to follow, this one definitely delivers. It’s one of those reads that’s just fun to get lost in.

Wow! Just when I thought I'd figured everything out, another surprise just around the corner pops up and I'm shocked again! The Fall of Iris Henley was nothing like the description that I remember reading when I requested this book and it just turned me on to an awesome author too!
What was a 'solved' murder/suicide of her boyfriend and best friend is amplified once again by one single posting on social media and Iris is bullied, ,threatened and terrorized by most of her schoolmates, ending her reign as popular girl and 'top cheerleader' (I was head cheerleader, so I could identify with Iris a bit). She must manage to survive the bullying without losing her mind and at the same time, attempt to uncover a catfish and the real murderer before she's no longer free (not in jail) to figure it all out! I was enthralled right until the conclusion!
