First, the kawaii style illustrations...ADORABLE. I absolutely love them! The story goes over colors, and RHYMES. These are good simple rhymes, with a nice, easy sentence structure. There aren't a ton of books that fit this category in our collection, so we will be purchasing this. This would be great for a storytime!
This picture book has some of the most adorable illustrations ever!!! I honestly love this little book. I think it's great how it teaches about the Chinese zodiac and also some of the key items/things related to the holiday. It even teaches some Chinese too! It really is super adorable from the rhyming to the bright colors and cute characters.
I received a copy in exchange for my honest review.
OMG. This book is just so perfect! I have been looking for the perfect cute Lunar New Year's book to be reading at storytime for years and finally it is here. Highly recommend.

With adorable kawaii-style digital artwork, Wan introduces various customs for celebrating Lunar New Year, one color at at a time. Each color is given its own spread, featuring an animal from the Chinese zodiac and a breezy, lyrical rhyme. In the back matter, Wan provides additional information about each spread, noting that, while many Asian cultures celebrate this holiday, the colors and traditions highlighted in the book "are inspired by Chinese customs." A brief overview of the Chinese zodiac is also included, as well as Chinese characters and pronunciation guide for color words. A joyful, vibrant book to share with young readers.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an electronic copy to read in exchange for an honest review.

Lucky New Year: Colors
This is such an informative book relating to the Lunar New Year.
The animals in the illustrations are so cute and add so much to the book. Children will definitely be drawn to the book with the illustrations.
I have learned a lot with the meaning of the colors and of the Lunar New Year traditions. The traditions are so nice and easy to follow.
I really like at the back of the book it has the color and tradition.
I think I will be implementing some of the traditions into our family like the gold coins, brown sugar rice cake and good luck signs. It would also be fun to learn to draw the symbols for the colors.
I recommend this book for story time and family libraries.
