Description
Two ex-step-siblings. One house. Zero chill.
Archie Forsythe has two weeks left in the South Bay beach house his father gifted him—before demanding it back as part of a very messy divorce settlement. The plan? Stall the paperwork, stay under the radar, and figure out how to finally launch his surfwear brand without Dad’s money, approval, or interference.
The problem? Piper Quinn. His ex-step-sister. Current pain in his...neck. And—thanks to a surprise legal twist—the house's new co-occupant.
Piper has no interest in rekindling anything with the Forsythe family… especially not with Archie, who spent her teenage years treating her like a walking cringe compilation. But with no money, no apartment, and a prestigious fashion internship starting in three days, she’s not about to give up a free oceanfront address—no matter who else is living there.
Now, they're locked in a battle of wills and passive-aggressive pranks. He hides her coffee. She hides his towels. They both insist the other should leave. But as the days pass, and the tension rises, the real question is:
What happens when your worst roommate becomes your unexpected weakness?
A sweet, enemies-to-lovers romantic comedy with forced proximity, hilarious pranks, and crackling tension. Perfect for fans of The Roommate Situation by Katie Bailey, The Love Wager by Lynn Painter, and Practice Makes Perfect by Sarah Adams.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hilariously swoony!!!
Oh my word, I don't think I stopped smiling or laughing through this entire book! I knew I would love it from the first moment Archie and Piper were on page together. The EPIC prank war was eclipsed only by the flirty tension between the two of them. And don't let the fact that they are ex-step siblings scare you away! They are NOT related at all and never even lived in the same house.
Though Piper does remember Archie being a jerk enough that she starts a prank war and I seriously laughed out loud so many times. The shampoo? The towels? I could not get enough! Especially as the two begin to realize they both made a lot of false assumptions about the other and all that flirty attraction grows. The sequence of events as they fall for each other was PERFECT and oh, that first kiss was absolutely worth the wait!!!
I love how Brittany can weave storylines with emotional depth about social injustices or toxic relationships into the story without overshadowing the main plot between Archie and Piper or taking away from the lighthearted moments. It all blended together so well and I was left with all the happy sighs from this captivating and unputdownable summer romance!
Goodreads Review:
This is great! I love Britta & the beach boy, so loved getting more of them through this book. Piper and Archie at war with each was highly enjoyable! I loved the breakaway from toxic relationships. I want to get to know all the side characters because each one has a story that I need to know how it ends! Oh and I love reading a book that I can hear the voices
in my head, Archie and his slang was great, yeah nah 🤣 and my hometown footy team got a shout out, go Cats!
Bookbub Review:
Archie and Piper - who knew? I truly loved all that Piper stands for! She's come from a privileged lifestyle, and yet her designs utilize waste and are inspired from the underclass of Japan. She knows what it takes to work hard and knows that the house her mom got in the divorce is such a blessing in this moment of her life - when she has an amazing internship. Archie is the epitome of privilege. Now daddy is about to cut him off. The house is his only leverage. What fun to read this book! Archie and Piper's 'prank war' was priceless. I enjoyed their friends, work, house, beach, coffee, everything about this book. Brittany Larsen makes her settings real life even in a romance novel. Great read!

If you love a good enemies to more story, full of witty banter, lots of great pranks (clean), a sweet love story, family dynamics, great friendships, finding one's own way, forgiveness, healing, and much more, this is definitely a book that fits the bill!
Piper really tugged at my heart from the get go. She has quite the situation she's trying to navigate and I was cheering her on when it seemed like life was going to fall into place for her. But this is a rom-com and there's always a twist in the adventure...am I right? *Nods head*
Enter Archie Forsythe...arch nemesis...can we call him that? These two have been pitted against each other, or rather Archie pitted himself against Piper years ago when his dad married Piper's mom. Long story, all explained in the book. Now these two are forced to be in the same home that was given to Piper's mom in the divorce settlement. But one of them belongs and the other doesn't! Which one is going to back down, which one is going to push too far in trying to get the other to leave? Hahaha! Let the pranks begin!
I know several readers couldn't get past these two being step-siblings, which I can see how that would make some people cautious. But I thought the author did a great job showing a clean line between their relationship as step-siblings and after as not being step-siblings. There was a very clear line drawn and I felt like it worked. I don't usually read that trope, I have a couple in the past, and one worked and the other didn't. But for me, I felt like this worked. Again, this isn't a trope that works for everyone, but if you're on the fence, I wanted to say that I thought the way it was written worked really well for this one. But if it's not your thing, definitely don't force yourself to read it.
I didn't read the first book in this series, but the main characters from it have several different scenes that they appear in and made me want to go back and read their book.
Content: I would consider this a clean read. There are a few sweet kisses near the end and nothing further. Archie is a surfer and used to living on his own next to the beach, so there are a few scenes where he's not wearing a shirt. There is a spot in a scene where there is an exposed bottom for just a second.
I received a copy from the author via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.
Happy Reading!!!
