Description
She has her reasons for wishing for a Corinthian who would not know a book if it hit him over the head. He is a member of The Royal Society wishing to find his intellectual equal.
Lady Verity Nicolet, number five of the Duke of Pelham’s daughter’s, is poised to take her place in society. She’s also poised to carefully guard the secret she’s harbored all her life. She considers herself the stupidest of the Nicolets and, try as she might, she cannot read. Words, diabolical words, swim in front of her eyes and she’s never been able to make them settle.
Henry Foster, Baron Wembly, has spent the past few years happily engaged in his scientific research and communing with his fellow Royal Society members. However, he finds that when he goes home to Somerset alone, the days are long and the nights are longer. He is determined to wed, and he sets out to locate a baroness who is his intellectual equal. And perhaps she might be pretty, too.
There is an instant attraction between Verity and the baron. The duke perceives it and, as is his custom, he asks Wembly to dine at Grosvenor Square. That dinner, and a certain broiled cod that went round the table, will spark a flurry of gossip and innuendo that settles over London and even goes so far as to wend its way to the palace.
With all of society wondering what in the world goes on between these two people, perhaps the two people in question had better figure that out.

Oh Kate Archer makes me laugh. Lady Liar tells the story of the fifth of the Nicolet sisters - Lady Verity who is prone to knowledgeable pronouncements on a variety of topics. Many of which are wildly off key!
Verity is, in fact, very dyslexic and has struggled in secret all her life - she can't read and she feels very inadequate. Her plan is to find a sporty sort - a Corinthian, and hope they don't notice.
Very unfortunate indeed therefore, that in to her path comes Henry, Baron Wembly - a member of the Royal Society and student of biology (specifically the circulatory systems of slow moving animals...).
This book is really sweet and very funny - as usual, there's a new butler for Mrs Right to wage war against, there are a few misunderstandings, an intervention from the Queen and the Duke running amok.
I recommend!

Lady Verity is an amazing character! Her story is so touching. Henry is somewhat staid and proper, but is led on a merry dance. The butler was a fantastic addition to the story. All of the normal characters appear and I greatly enjoy certain events attended by each daughter. The story is fun like all the others and has a sweetness that leaves you smiling!

Okay, I'll try not to play favorites here, but since Lady Dramatic by this author was clearly written for me, I totally went into Lady Liar with a positive bias, and wow, I loved this! Beautiful, stunning, swoony, emotional.. A thousand words could describe this precious book. Kate Archer, thank you for writing novels.
