A Cry for Vengeance written by Ernesto Patino. This book follows the life of Bryan De Luca and his friend Helen Darby as they interview Holocaust survivors around the country. They want to compile stories for a tell all book. While interviewing survivors the realization sets in that several postwar countries have secretly employed former Nazis including the U.S. Intelligence agencies. Things spiral out of control. Who can one trust when friends, neighbors, and the police, all seem suspicious. Rumors become fact, this puts Bryan and Helen in a dangerous position.

I really enjoyed this as a historical thriller novel, it had that element that I was looking for and was engaged with what was happening. I enjoyed getting to know the characters and their journey during this story. It uses the World War 2 element perfectly and enjoyed the use of 1968. It was tense and worked overall. Ernesto Patino wrote this perfectly and was glad I was able to read this.

A Cry for Vengeance is an intense historical thriller that blends the shadows of WWII with the paranoia of the Cold War. When a dying man confesses to being a former SS officer, nurse Helen Darby and Professor Bryan De Luca are pulled into a web of hidden war crimes, covert intelligence operations, and moral dilemmas that test the limits of justice. I really enjoyed how the story kept raising the stakes—each discovery led to a more dangerous truth, and the tension never let up. The mix of real history and relentless suspense made it a compelling, edge-of-my-seat read.

🔥 This book grabbed me by the collar and refused to let go. A Cry for Vengeance is like a history class that got hopped up on espresso and decided to throw punches. We’ve got Nazis hiding in plain sight, spies playing both sides, and a professor who gets way more than he bargained for. It’s twisty, dangerous, and totally addictive. I tore through it in a couple sittings because I HAD to know who was going to make it out alive. If you like your thrillers with brains, bullets, and a moral gut-punch, this is it. 💣📚

I want to thank NetGalley for this amazing ARC. I enjoyed this book. It was well written and being Jewish it hit home with me. The hardships that Jews faced during the holocaust were tragic but to think that so many lives were lost due to such hatred is appalling. This book is informative and is a great read for all. I suggest this read to a lot of misinformed youth in today’s society with the issues that Jews are facing today in society.

A terrific story which captures so much of what happened to Jews and other victims of the Holocaust. It could, therefore, have been a lot longer but the author has distilled key messages which will inform and engage a new generation of readers. The ending was deeply moving and, while tragic, also kind of satisfying as the author did not shy away from a controversial decision by the male protagonist,
