Description

She wasn’t supposed to fall for the archer.

He wasn’t supposed to fall for the scandal.

Kathleen Andelit is doing everything she can to keep a low profile in London while living with her disgraced sister. But one wrong turn, one lingering look at a handsome archer in the park, and she finds herself caught, literally and figuratively, in the sights of a very intriguing gentleman.

What begins as a foolish wager soon becomes much more.

Lord Leopold Chance, son of a duke and tarnished by a scandal of his own, knows better than to be seen with a woman carrying Society’s disapproval. But when Kathleen challenges him to teach her archery, he agrees, if only to get her out of his mind.

Secret lessons turn into stolen kisses.

Attraction becomes affection.

And before long, love is the most dangerous risk of all.

But when a second wager threatens the fragile bond they’ve built, and interfering families stir up the past, Leopold and Kathleen must decide if this chance at love is worth defying every rule.

Put your hands in the air and dance because it's time for another glimpse into the wonderful world of the Chance family! I was so excited for the next installment and it was well worth the wait. In A Sporting Chance, the story focuses on Leopold Chance and Miss Kathleen Andilet.

Leo is an absolute darling. Not only is he handsome, he's a gentle loving soul with a heart of gold. The kind of guy that makes you sigh and melt. Leo is the 2nd son of William Chance & Alice Fox-Edwards from the first in the series, A Fighting Chance. If you've read that one you know that William had some deep seated issues with perfectionism and fear of being scrutinized for any scandal. He has improved a great deal, but of course children will still pick up and absorb what is in their environment. Leo struggles with the feeling of wanting to be perfect for his father. A scandal is already brewing thanks to false cheating allegations, likely from some bacon brained cockalorum. Uncomfortable stepping into any card room, Leo instead focuses on his heart's passion, archery.

Kathleen Andilet is living alone with her sister Angela in London. They've been banished to London from their home village after their parents declared Angela "ruined" in the eyes of society. Kathleen isn't sure what happened, Angela is very closed mouthed about the entire thing, and won't even discuss her frequent visits to her solicitor. A delightful surprise meeting occurs between Leo & Kathleen, and Kathleen challenges Leo to teach her archery. A fascinated Leo accepts.

As the archery lessons continue, the chemistry between Leo & Kathleen grows and they fall deeply in love with each other. Yet their potential happiness is darkened with fear and secrets. Leo's worried that he's already on thin ice and his father won't accept Kathleen. He's concerned the class difference would cause a scandal his father wouldn't allow. Kathleen is worried that the gossip caused by Angela's situation would make any potential scandal even worse.

Of course it will work out and they'll have their happily ever after, because this is a romance novel. You'll be delighted with how everything turns out, It's a heartwarming ending that will make you smile, even papa William shows that underneath that stern exterior he's a good man that deeply loves his family. Lady Romeril will pop in too, she's such a treat. As crisp and proper as she is, I always know she will do her part to end any underhanded behavior in the Ton. Things even work out for Angela, which is wonderful. This series is the perfect choice for putting a smile on my face. There's something magical about Emily Murdoch's writing that always helps to pull me out of the doldrums.

Thank you NetGalley & Dragonblade Publishing for the ARC. This is my honest opinion of the book.

Well, another Chance falls in spectacular and lovely fashion. Leopold loves archery-it is his passion. When Kathleen corners him into teaching her, it begins their journey, full of scandal, pain, family tension and love…so much love. I adored how Leopold has such a soft demeanor and hurt that he felt he had to be perfect in his father’s eyes. Kathleen is trying to protect her sister, and support her when their father disowned them . I wish the villain at the Archery club would have gotten a comeuppance , but I guess what he did get must do. And then there is Lady Romeril- doing what she does best- insert herself in something not her business and gladly so! I think the most precious scene ( aside from the epilogue) was between Leopold and his father-very touching. Misunderstandings abound in this tale, but the HEA is so very lovely!

I received this story for free and these are my own views.
