The designs in this book are beyond cute! There were designs for animals, bugs, flowers, and fruits. Each design was cuter than the next! I especially liked the Bumble Bee and the Pineapple designs.

What makes this book even better is it is not just for hats. There are also designs for booties! They are all absolutely adorable, but I really liked the strawberry ones!

The book also teaches you how to make little details such as flowers, eyes, and creatures. This is great because you can then take these patterns and apply them to other projects. You could add a few lady bugs to a blanket to give it that something more if you want. Really the possibilities are endless with this.

The title does have the word baby in it, but there is a place in the book where it tells you how to make the hats for other ages as well. This makes the book very versatile. You can make hats for babies, toddlers, kids, and even adults.

The directions are easy to follow. However, if you are just starting with crocheting it may take you a little longer to pick them up.

You get a lot with this book. Don't pass it up!

Some really cute patterns in this lovely book. You will have to know how to crochet before you start as there is no 'how to crochet' in this book. I love the pineapple hat and booties. The pictures are very bright to the point I was squinting to try save my eyeballs lol. All in all a nice book.

I adore this treasure! I can not wait to get started on two of the hats that will go perfect with the two blankets I am crocheting for baby gifts, these will be the perfect addition!
As far as I can tell (and I've been crocheting since 9- I'm 46) the patterns are easy to follow and the hats are too cute.

I recieved this e-book from NetGalley as a sample to read for my honest review. That is what I have given here.

Cute little crochet hats and booties for babies to 5 yrs olds. The patterns are easy and are made for cotton, so would make lovely head protections for the sunny day either at the park or the beach. Cotton does not stretch as much whilst making so does make for a firmer weave, easier for beginners in crochet. The designs include a frog with googly eyes, duck, pig, strawberry, owl and my favourite a pineapple. There are other and the pattern give the maker the ability to make the hats and booties their own by adding personalised embellishments and sizing. A good book for summer as well as for the in between seasons, or just to make a fashion statement.

BABY CROCHET DESIGN is a simple how to book for baby/toddler hats and booties. It does not instruct on how to crochet so even though the patterns are simple a beginning crocheter will need to learn some basics before tackling any of the items.

Big plus of BABY CROCHET DESIGN other than it's simplicity is that there is a basic hat pattern utilized in most of the actual hats. So once you have mastered that basic pattern you should have no difficulty with the many hats to choose from. And there are plenty in BABY CROCHET DESIGN.

Anyone looking for a fast, cute and candidly inexpensive handmade item for a new baby need look no further than BABY CROCHET DESIGN. In fact you could easier whip up a hat wardrobe for that special baby in just a few evening. The instructions are clear, concise and easy - once you know how to crochet. The stitches are also basic crochet so you don't have to be an expert to produce an adorable hat or booties.

Personally I love making hats for kids. They like a variety and with BABY CROCHET DESIGN you can make one to suit just about any childs perference - animals, flowers, embellish to your hearts delight. I don't make too many booties but the ones shown with the hats are really cute.

BABY CROCHET DESIGN will be one craft book that will get lots of use.

So many baby hat patterns are either too simple or too silly. The hats in Baby Crochet Design are beautifully simple but can be easily customized for more flair. The designs are cute and not silly. These are hats, not toys.

The author included guidelines for sizing the hats up or down so any hat in here can be made for older kids or adults. With the simplicity of the designs, this would be a great book for anyone who makes chemo caps. It's a great go-to hat book.

Love the designs in this book! They seem to be well-written and easy to understand. There are great pictures throughout the book also. Browsing this book will make you want to pick up your needles!

Quite sweet designs, but would have to see the book in hard copy,as it didn't translate to kindle very well. Patterns were readable ( with difficulty due to formatting) and seemed to be quite suitable for an advanced beginner on.

This is a lovely book of fairly easy to crochet baby hats and booties. It was originally published during 2014 in Italy by Graziana Materassi and has been translated and published here for the first time in 2015. The instructions follow US conventions for stitches and hook sizes. The rolled hat designs show a definite European flair and are perfect for a baby as they are not too close fitting.

I would suggest this book for an experienced beginner and above because of the lack of instructions and the size and type of yarn that is being used. Cotton can be a little tricky to work with because it has no give. You will also be working with a smaller hook than I suggest for a brand-new beginner. When I teach crochet, I like to start with a worsted weight and a size G/H hook so that the crocheter doesn't have to struggle to see what goes where.

The patterns are designed for cotton fingering yarn but certainly could be adapted for other yarns, too, just be aware that it may change the gauge of the project and make the hat/booties larger than expected. The book does not list the exact products used.

The projects are all quite cute and each hat has a matching set of booties/sandals for baby. There is a small tutorial in the front of the book about sizing the hats anywhere from newborn to adult sizes (that way you and baby can be matching.) The projects include: strawberry, frog, pineapple, elf, lily of the valley, green apple with caterpillar, ladybug, sun with mimosa blooms, ducky, rooster, bee, piggy, owl, hipster, eggplant, kitty (puss in booties), and city mouse/country mouse.

These projects are so very cute. I have a new granddaughter arriving in a few months and I have to make a couple of these hats for both her and her older brother to wear.

The instructions are straightforward and there is an abbreviation chart at the beginning of the book. It is not comprehensive as I already noted that a slip stitch is abbreviated (sl st) but is not shown in the chart. There may be others but the abbreviations follow accepted norms and are not difficult for the crocheter to decipher.

The advanced reader copy I am reviewing does not have instructions as to basic stitches, so in order to use this book, you will need to know how to do the following crochet: chain stitch, slip stitch, single crochet, double crochet, half double crochet, triple crochet, single crochet 2 together, and how to increase/decrease. These are fairly basic crochet and tutorials can be easily found online as well as in most beginner crochet books.

I received a digital ARC copy of this book from the publisher, Dover Publications, via Netgalley.

Gorgeous collection of matching baby and toddler hats and booties. All of the designs are adorable and inspirational, but my favourite part is the instructions in the beginning, which covers how to fit and alter the styles to fit the baby or toddler you have in mind. In addition there are instructions on how to crochet a beautiful array of decorations such as various flowers and butterflies - this way you can truly make the hats your own design!

These hats and booties are simply adorable. The directions are easy to follow but you have to have knowledge of basic crochet because there is no directions for the stitches. I found a stitch even I had to look up directions for and I have been crocheting for 40 years. Most of the hats are similar so you can use a basic pattern and add your own embellishments or leave them plain. I did have a problems seeing the pictures on my Kindle. Definitely need the book in print.

Baby Crochet Design: Hats and Boots by Graziana Materassi that offers patterns matching caps and booties range in style from cute little animal motifs to fruit and flower-adorned costumes. Sixteen unique crochet patterns feature complete instructions for hats and booties, accompanied by full-color illustrations. A pretty pink piglet, wide-eyed owl, busy bee, sweet strawberry, and a tropical pineapple are but a few of the playful designs. The hat patterns can be adapted to accommodate the heads of older children as well.

Baby Crochet Design is a useful resource for those looking to make a variety of fun hats and matching booties for babies and young children. The owl and fruit hats were very cute, but I have to say that there were new designs that seemed fresh and new to me. They are ll worth making and learning the patterns for, but I did not find them overly special. Unfortunately there were also some minor formatting issues with the digital galley I received, which I havre to assume were fixed before the final version was released. There was nothing lacking or wrong with the patterns, my only problem was that I frequent several craft stores and craft communities and have seen similar patterns over the years.

Baby Crochet Design is a good resource for those looking to make a variety of baby hats and matching booties. I did not find the designs included to be anything new or previously unavailable, but they were cute.
