Description
Welcome to beautiful and scenic Cascadia Falls National Park! (Please do not feed the bears, no matter how much they beg!)
Commodified, gentrified, consumerized, and digitized, the Elysian environs of 21st-century Cascadia are now just more Content©™ . . . and so are its hopelessly acclimatized-to-tourists bears, Ginger and Yaya. Involuntary beer mascots and social media stars, these sexy bears have entirely forgotten how to bear, much to the frustration and chagrin of their park ranger caretakers, Eggs and Ricardo. And while Yaya has embraced the sweet life of the park's endless junk food buffet, Ginger is intrigued by a better future she starts to see with the patient Eggs's help. But corporate overlords will never accept a rebellious return to roots if it means cutting off the lucrative supply of Content . . . and that means the battle is on.
Owlin's antic, madcap meditation on the soul of humanity is brought to life in a widescreen vintage TV-style caper, perfect for all bears and the people who love them!

This is a VERY fun book that uses social media and the concept of influencers to create a narrative about ecological responsibility. There are some adult-themed situations that younger readers not be ready for, but most readers will find this fun and silly. The presentation, as though this were an old-fashioned TV animated series, complete with commercials, news briefs, etc. makes for an entertaining medium through which Visel and Bergin tell their tale. Fun and thought-provoking.

What an interesting way to bring attention and provide commentary on ecological and capitalist issues. This book was funny. The choice to present the book as an old-time sitcom, complete with a ton of hokey commercials, was great.
