Description
Lord Tobias Corbyn could tolerate women, but love one? Never. The darkness he carried from a past he refused to forget had made sure of that.
Still, the life he chose came with its share of regrets. One, was turning his back on his childhood friend, Lady Liberty. But when he finds her in danger and steps in to help, the girl he once left behind becomes the woman he can’t stop thinking about.
Liberty knows something is terribly wrong in her village. A shadow hangs over Bidham, and uncovering the truth may be more dangerous than she ever imagined. To succeed, she must seek help from the one man she swore never to forgive. Tobias is no longer the boy she remembers, but the more time she spends with him, the more she sees there are demons he is trying to outrun.
Can Liberty and Toby save the village of Bidham, and find solace in each other's arms, or will his past keep him from taking a chance on love?

Tobias, Jamie, and Anthony are the men of the Blackwood Brotherhood.
In this second book of the series, Tobias has to work to fight his own demons.
Circumstances cause him to overhaul his life including his past friendship with Lady Liberty.
As he strives for change and forgiveness, people from his past affect his life.
Good character building of Liberty and Tobias as their romance moves forward.
Always a plus to see characters from previous books although easily read as a standalone.
Jamie is next up in this heartwarming series.

4.5 stars rounding up to 5. This is the second book in the Blackwood Brotherhood series. This series introduces us to three friends (Anthony, Tobias and Jamie) and that went to Blackwood School and were abused by the staff and as adults, how their lives were impacted by this time. A well-written romance with a dash of suspense to keep you turning the page. In each book you are given the story of one of three friends. This story focuses on Lord Tobias Corbyn and his relationship with his childhood friend Lady Liberty. What I enjoy about Vella’s writing is that she brings back characters from her other series or from book to book in the same series. The characters are well rounded and developed and for that reason you become immersed in their lives. I fell in love with Vella’s writing starting with the Sinclair series and then the Nightingales and now this series. I am always looking forward to a new book or a new series by her. Toby and Lady Liberty bumped into each other in the village of Bidham. They both learned that there is something evil happening in the village and decided to work together to find out what is happening. This is when adventure and romance start to impact them both. Read and find out if Toby and Liberty can solve this mystery without being killed and will their feelings for each other continue to grow. I would like to thank Netgalley and Dragonblade Publishing for providing me with an ARC for an honest review.
I so love this series!Tobias gets his turn to finally start living instead of just existing. Watching him open his heart to someone he never expected into his life was so precious and realizing what he messed up with Liberty gives him the push he needs to move forward . I loved the banter between them, though it was peppered with hurt and vitriol. The villain has been busy and Tobias and his friends have to stop him. I thought the writing was well done as the author showed how remorseful he was for hurting all around him, but abuse does that to people. This is a lesson in not judging people’s actions and reactions until you know the WHOLE truth. Lovely characters, a very biased and at times nasty mother and one adorable dog! Great book- finished in one day!
I received this story for free and these are my own views.

Another incredible book from Wendy Vella !
Every single time I get one of her books, I cannot put it down!
Lord Tobias he started off so stony but the love of Lady Liberty and Florence softened him up.
Lady Liberty, I thought she would be a soft lady especially with her accident but she turned out to be fire!
Another emotionally charged book that never fails to have me tear!
Thank you.
