This book is a DARK romance so please check TW but I really enjoyed it. It was so dark and twisty but I kind of loved it. It's so unhinged lol. I loved a few of the twists and how morally black Cain and Abel are.
I will definitely be checking out more of this authors work !

From the first chapter, I was hooked by Cain's cold, dangerous energy and Kirby's fierce spirit. Their chemistry is explosive - twisted, addictive, and completely unforgettable.
The audiobook narration was perfection.
The dual narrators brought the characters to life in a way that made every emotion hit harder - Cain's chilling control, Kirby's fear, defiance, and eventual surrender. It felt like I was right there, trapped in their world.
This story is dark, violent, and
unapologetically intense, but that's exactly what makes it so good. Brooklyn Cross doesn't shy away from exploring obsession, power, and desire in the most disturbing yet captivating ways. Every moment had me on edge - my heart racing, my stomach twisting, and yet I couldn't stop listening.
If you love your romances dark, depraved, and emotionally raw, this audiobook is a must. It's not for the faint of heart, but it's absolutely unforgettable. I'll be thinking about Cain and Kirby for a long time.

The SK twins were a treat, I def have a soft spot for Abel. He’s the Harley to his Joker 🫶🏽
He just had such a fun personality and I was entertained every time he had a scene.
As for Cain, he’s a sucker for eyes lmfao. I wonder why eyes though… It was interesting dissecting why they did what they did. I really enjoyed being in Cain’s mind, just the way his thought process is…
He’s fr unhinged, but probably less so than Abel.

And Kirby… I’m sorry, but I couldn’t stop picturing Kirby (video game) the whole time lmfao. Like I’m 100% sure her serious ass Mother did not name her that 😭😭😭 There ain’t no way.
I def liked the way she let loose a bit. After dealing w/ her Mom and Peter (seriously, these names lmfao), I can see why she went the route she did!!
I love a valid crash out.
And the cucumber scene? Cain had me LMFAO!!!! That scene had me fr cracking tf up.

Overall, I didn’t think I would like this as much, but this was actually entertaining!!
And HAWT. Even though it was kinda gruesome at times, Cain and Abel at the same damn time? 🥴
Teddy Hamilton always does amazing narrating, no notes 💋 And the way Angelina Rocca switched from Kirby to Her Mom to random victims? I loved it

Wow. Just WOW.

This book was something else! Dark and oh so twisted.
Cain is magnetic, terrifying, and completely impossible to look away from. I went into this one completely blind…but let me warn you: this book isn’t for everyone. It goes to some very dark places. If you’re someone who reads trigger warnings, take them seriously. This author isn’t exaggerating. This story pushes every boundary and tests your moral compass. I’ve finally found a book dark enough to truly earn the title of dark romance.
I was completely consumed from start to finish. It made me question myself more than once, yet I couldn’t stop listening. The little songs woven throughout, especially “You Are My Sunshine” added such an eerie and emotional touch that will stick with me for a long time.

This book was unhinged alright... If you want to listen to something that’ll have you constantly asking yourself, “WTF did I just hear?", then this is the book for you.

I saw this as a "Listen Now" option on NetGalley and immediately downloaded it when I saw our voice actor king, Teddy Hamilton, on the narrator list.

I really tried to get through this, but I ultimately decided to DNF. This book is DARK romance, I'm talking the darkest of dark. The story starts with very graphic scenes of two twin brothers who are serial killers and sexually abused their victims, alive or dead. The trigger warnings are no joke for this one; it was definitely a lot and too much for me.

I will say, the production of the audiobook was great! The cast and sound effects definitely worked well. The only thing I got a bit tired of was the same music transitions between chapters.

BUT. HOLY. FREAKING. WOW. This book? Absolutely unhinged—in the best way possible. When the author says ‘watch out for the triggers,’ she’s not just giving a heads-up… she’s issuing a full-blown warning siren. Buckle up, because this one hits hard.

🌐slow start, allowing for great world-building (but make no mistake, the gore is there from the start!)
📝poetic prologue, although it's a bit of a missed opportunity (I mean, why not sing it?!)
👨‍🦰plenty of focus on his POV (for some reason I am obsessed with the male POV)

This book is definitely a dark dark romance. The author leaves nothing to the imagination and is incredibly descriptive. I don’t want to yuck anyone’s yum, but I considered DNF-ing this one several times. However, the plot completely hooked me, and I found myself invested in the characters despite the intensity. Please make sure to read the trigger warnings before diving in.

I listened to the audiobook and really enjoyed the narration — Teddy Hamilton always brings characters to life and elevates any story!

I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a dark, taboo romance.

Review: Unhinged Cain (The Buchanan Brothers Duet, Book 1) by Brooklyn Cross
🎧 Narrated by Teddy Hamilton & Angelina Rocca
I went into this one because I’m a sucker for dark romance and stalker stories so decided to give this a go and this book definitely delivered. It’s not the kind of “dark” that just leans on shock value. Brooklyn Cross really builds Cain and Abel’s twisted world from childhood up, and you get the psychology, the obsession and even the blurred lines. Like those between love, death and destruction. It’s a bit disturbing in places (but this I love from her books) but also weirdly hypnotic and traps you.

The narration was perfect for it. Teddy Hamilton gave Cain that calm, intelligent menace that makes you shiver without him even raising his voice, and Angelina Rocca balanced it out with real emotion and strength in the female lead. Together they made the tension feel alive and I could not stop listening.

What I liked most was how unpredictable it stayed. You think you know where it’s heading, then it veers darker or more emotional or just straight up unhinged.
The ending tied up in a way that left me both satisfied and ready for the next book.
If you like serial killer antiheroes, morally gray tension and narration that makes the characters feel real, this one’s worth the ride.
