Description
A little party never killed anybody?
On a comedown from one of their infamous parties, the dysfunctional Morland siblings find a guest has been murdered… and hide the body in their wine cellar.
In this darkly funny locked-room thriller, each sibling has secrets which could stop them inheriting the estate.
But who will survive until the afterparty?
The dysfunctional Morland siblings are throwing another of their infamous parties at their ancestral home, and this time, it’s wilder than ever. But on the hungover morning after, when their housekeeper is trying to clear-out the drunken revellers from the historic halls, they find that one of the guests has been murdered.
The siblings face a choice: call the police and claim their innocence, or hide the body in the wine cellar and ignore their problems. They choose badly.
Each sibling suspects the others of the murder, and with an inspection looming which could secure or destroy their inheritance, tempers fray, old traumas re-surface, and new threats claw their way out of the shadows – and why is there knocking coming from under the floorboards?
This deliciously dark descent into privilege, paranoia, and the price of family loyalty is perfect for fans of Ruth Ware, Lucy Foley, and Lisa Jewell.

I devoured this in one evening and I stayed up until WAY past my bedtime because I didn't want to put it down! My heart is still pounding hours after the last page. What a heart-stopping read I had goosebumps and chills! It grabs you from page one holds tight until the last page and beyond.
Absolutely addictive and Oh, the tangled webs we weave wow, ‘The Party to End All Parties’ is a very good book with a mind-blowing conclusion. If you are into a plot-twisting story this book is waiting for you.
A dark but really funny thriller of a read.
Bad decisions and privilege make for gripping storyline.
I was soon engrossed and struggled to put this one down.
My thanks to netgalley and the publisher for my copy.
This is messy, vicious fun, the kind of book that knows exactly how awful its characters are and leans in hard. The Party to End All Parties starts with excess and hangovers and entitlement, then quickly becomes a thriller once the body is discovered and promptly hidden instead of mourned.
The Morland siblings are wealthy, damaged, and bound together by a history they would all rather not examine too closely. The decision to stash a corpse in the wine cellar is not played for shock so much as inevitability. Of course, they chose wrong. Of course, they think they can outlast consequences. What follows is a slow, dark unraveling as suspicion circulates and everyone begins tallying what they stand to lose if the truth comes out.
Lucy Roth is very good at letting paranoia do the heavy lifting. The house itself feels claustrophobic despite its size, full of old grudges and old traditions and antiques.
What works especially well is how the siblings’ shared history keeps resurfacing at the worst possible moments. Old dynamics reassert themselves under pressure, alliances shift, and loyalty proves conditional at best. The knocking under the floorboards is exactly the kind of detail this book thrives on: absurd, unsettling, and impossible to ignore once introduced.
This is a locked-room thriller that understands privilege as both protection and poison. The party may be over, but the damage lingers, and watching this family implode is grimly satisfying from start to finish.

The four Morland siblings - the kind of rich, spoilt, loathsome characters who always fascinate people. This novel takes place around one of their legendary parties which goes horribly wrong.
I did feel this one started a little slowly, but as I got deeper into the plot it became a real page turner. The story is told from the point of view of multiple characters, and Lucy Roth manages to juggle their different voices seamlessly.
Definitely one to stick with as it all comes together to a very satisfying denouement.
Thanks to Netgalley and Avon Books for providing the ARC in return for my honest review.

Deliciously wicked with a great setting, a loathsome set of characters and a truly wild party. The first half of the book was terrific, the second half a little meandering and disappointing despite several twists. But still highly recommended
Four siblings are fighting for control of their estate that is currently under their grandmother’s control. These are adult siblings in their thirties and forties who still act like they’re in their twenties. Parties full of alcohol and illicit drugs, where you can just pay off anyone who catches the family’s behavior on camera. But it finally goes too far when a guest is discovered deceased the morning after their last big blowout. As the spoiled, wealthy morons they are, they hide the body so that they’ll pass an inspection – the last hurdle before their grandmother makes a choice of heir. What could go wrong?
So, of course, everything does, which is fine, because you won’t feel bad watching this family implode. It’s a fun and humorous story, but sometimes the humor is a stretch and just too crude. You don’t have to make every other piece of dialogue hilarious, you know? Otherwise, it’s a fast-paced story that you don’t have to get too emotionally invested in while waiting to see how it all plays out.
I think my favorite character was Iggy, the adorable goat! I love when stories feature exotic pets, and the author made sure to highlight everything an owner would need to properly care for one. She’s probably the best thing about that family, for sure. My thanks to NetGalley and Avon Books UK for the free advanced reading copy of this book.
What an interesting complicated family with some crazy drama!
I really enjoyed this one
I adored the goat and now feel like I need one
This family are definitely my sort of vibe! The whole book was crazy
What in the Saltburn did I just read?!
The Party to End All Parties by Lucy Roth is a darkly entertaining blend of privilege, dysfunction, and chaos. The story centers on an ultra-wealthy group of siblings, all vying to inherit their family’s estate after the death of their father. The decision rests with their formidable grandmother, who will choose an heir based on how each sibling envisions the estate’s future. In the days leading up to her verdict, the siblings decide to throw one final, decadent party, an ill advised mix of drugs, alcohol, and unresolved resentment, that quickly spirals out of control.
The siblings’ constant snark and sharp banter provide moments of dark humor (think Ready or Not–style family dysfunction), while the underlying tension keeps the stakes high. Every character is deeply flawed, insufferably complicated, and selfish in their own unique way. That complexity is exactly what makes the story work. Roth uses their dysfunction as both entertainment and propulsion, allowing the narrative to unravel naturally as secrets surface and alliances fracture. The final twist genuinely caught me off guard, and the ending felt both earned and satisfying. Sharp, messy, and wildly compelling, this is a story that lingers well after the party ends.
Thank you NetGalley and Avon books for the ARC.
I really enjoyed this read!
It was wild and chaotic in a great way!
I disliked the siblings but I think that was the point
It was a slow start for me but once I got into it, I couldn’t put it down
It was very well written and I recommend it!
Thank you for the ARC copy! I found a new author j really enjoy!
Man, I loathed the Morland siblings. I hated each one more than the other. They were the kind of characters that you love to hate and love to watch fall apart.
If this is a bit slow to start don't worry because like jello, it all comes together spectacularly and when it does, it's glorious and worth the wait.
Thanks to Avon and NetGalley for gifting me a copy. It was my pleasure to write an honest review.

A fun, intriguing read with shades of Saltburn as well as Flowers in the Attic. Kassie is a charming main character and her siblings deliciously awful. The party is written with beautiful chaos, but the story fell apart a bit towards the end as things became more and more unfeasible and complicated. The ending was a bit of a disappointment, but I’ve added an extra star for Iggy the goat who is the sweetest character!

The Party to End All Parties is a deliciously unhinged cocktail of family dysfunction, locked‑room mystery, and dark humour. From the moment the Morland siblings wake up after one of their legendary blow‑out parties and discover a dead guest on the premises, you just know you’re in for a wonderfully messy ride.
Rather than doing the sensible thing—calling the police—they decide to stash the body in the wine cellar. And from there, everything spirals delightfully out of control.
The Morlands are a brilliantly dysfunctional bunch: privileged, chaotic, and each clutching secrets that could cost them their inheritance. The shifting suspicions, barbed sibling banter, and rising paranoia make the story hugely entertaining. The looming estate inspection adds a ticking clock that keeps the tension simmering, all while old wounds are reopened and new threats creep out of the shadows.
And the atmosphere? Perfectly done. The ancestral home feels like a character in itself—creaky, imposing, and full of places to hide both bodies and secrets. The strange noises under the floorboards add just the right amount of unsettling charm to the chaos.
Despite the murder, the tone stays wonderfully sharp and darkly funny, making it an easy, compulsively readable thriller. Think Ruth Ware meets Lucy Foley, but with an extra twist of dysfunctional family comedy.
A fun, fast, cleverly twisted read with standout characters and a great sense of mischief.
With thanks to Lucy Roth, the publisher and netgalley for the ARC

The Party to End All Parties is dark, the characters mostly unlikable (with the exception of Iggy), and yet I thoroughly enjoyed this book! It’s a fast read with lots of debaucherous twists and turns.
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read The Party to End All Parties ahead of its official publication date.

This is the second book I have enjoyed from this creative author, and I recommend her work.
While it took me a minute to get into the writing style and begin to click the pieces together, once clear about the dynamics between the characters, I was off and running through the pages.
There are many different sub plots and intricacies in this storyline, and it's important to pay attention to how and when key elements are added. Kassie and her siblings are in a battle for control of the Moreland estate, and it's every "man" for themselves. Convincing their Grandmother that they are the right person to care for the property while assuring the others fail in their efforts is a dangerous game, and throwing an epic rager of a party right before she is to decide is very il-advised. Secrets that have been held (some for decades) wind through the chapters, adding twists to the already addictive storyline. When the truth comes out, it sets things in motion that cannot be undone.
I enjoyed the debauchery and outright mayhem of the guests and siblings at their party. Each of the sibling's pasts dictated how the events unfolded, and produced the end result - which I did not see coming... love that!!
I enjoyed my time in these pages and recommend this entertaining murder mystery.
I received my ARC from Netgalley, and my thoughts are my own.
It’s a sharp, high‑concept thriller old friends gather to be a glitter built around the irresistible chaos of a reunion gone wrong.

This is a darkly entertaining, sharp-witted thriller that delves into a dysfunctional family history and disastrous decision making. When a guest is found dead after one of the Morland siblings’ extravagant parties, the wealthy family choose concealment hiding the body in the wine cellar and triggering a spiral of disaster..
The plot thrives on its claustrophobic setting and the mounting pressure as inheritance, secrets and sibling rivalries collide. The characters are deeply flawed — selfish, entitled and oddly compelling and oddly amusing..
While the pacing occasionally dips, the mix of family drama, mystery and biting humour kept me engaged throughout. A clever, entertaining read with plenty of twists and sharp observations about privilege and self-interest. A solid four stars.
Siblings full of secrets, wealth, and a messy party that ends in a who done it and a lot of mystery. As for the siblings, these are two unlikeable characters written to be unlikeable and unrelatable and I have to admit that I really liked that. Reading this it played out like a movie in my head and I could very quickly picture these characters, who they were and had opinions on them. Throughout the book bad choices are made which again made me feel as though I was inside a movie and while I found it hard to get into at first with a slightly slower start and build I found myself full invested in no time. If you love a drama filled thriller with fantastic characters and a story that will have you shouting at the pages then this is perfect for you.

Really enjoyable. I've read and enjoyed 3 of Lucy's other books (under her Lucy Nichol name) so am pretty much on her wavelength. Most of the characters are supposed to be unlikeable but Kassie & her goat Iggy are the heroes and I thought they were both loveable characters. There are a lot of threads sown throughout the book that build towards the ending so you're constantly trying to predict the outcome but still unlikely to guess it exactly right. I reas the book over about 3 days and looked forward to reading more each time I put it down.

i was so ready to dive into this one. it seemed fresh and new and the premise really intrigued me.
siblings? siblings? are this group really allowed to call themselves that, haha. because im seeing every one for themselves to get what they want and screw the others. but of course it was so much better and more than that and so much more to it.
when the siblings gather to show their Grandmother that they are the ones to take top job, take over, run the estate it soon get into the chills are coming up my arm in the best way kind of thriller. i loved how much all our characters had their own voice. so i got to know them and got to see their place in the books really well. and every step of the way i wondered how this could ever play out for them. adding a party of this kind of folks rioters nature to proceeding and this just kept going from bad to worse in the foreboding factor.
these books are great in parts because we arent meant to fall in love, root or even like that characters. they are who they are, it would be a worry if we did like them, but that doesn't mean their story isn't fascination and compelling. infact it can make it more so. because your just excited then for the fallout.
all the sibling brings their own secrets and baggage to the meeting. do they even like each other? who knows. money and icky circumstances seems to send people way beyond nuance and grey area could even try to. i smiled sometimes with them at just the "you did what now" way in which they behaved and acted sometimes!
it was so vivid and fun and full of colour all of its own this book. and i cant believe how odd it sounds to say how much i enjoyed every messy second of it,
The Party to End All Parties by Lucy Roth is a wildly entertaining, darkly funny thriller that leans fully into its chaos and delivers a brilliant, addictive read.
The Morland siblings are larger than life, messy, dramatic, and completely captivating. Their decision to hide a body rather than face the consequences sets off a chain of events that is as gripping as it is outrageous, and I loved watching everything spiral in the most unpredictable ways.
What really stood out for me was how fun this book is. The dark humour lands well, adding a sharp, witty edge to the story while balancing the tension and mystery. The family dynamics are full of secrets, rivalry, and buried resentment, which keeps the plot constantly moving.
There is a real locked room energy here, with suspicion bouncing between the siblings and the stakes rising as everything threatens to fall apart. It is dramatic, fast paced, and incredibly bingeable.
A bold, chaotic, and thoroughly enjoyable thriller that does not take itself too seriously in the best way.

The Party to End All Parties by Lucy Roth is a wildly entertaining, darkly clever thriller that leans all the way into its chaos—and makes it impossible to look away.
Set against the backdrop of one truly disastrous, over-the-top party, this story delivers everything you want from a messy, high-stakes thriller: a wealthy, dysfunctional family, a shocking death, and a series of increasingly terrible decisions that spiral in the most addictive way. Instead of doing the obvious thing, the Morland siblings choose to hide the body—setting off a chain reaction of secrets, paranoia, and shifting alliances that kept me completely hooked.
What really stood out was how creative and engaging the premise felt. The mix of dark humor, tension, and family drama creates a story that’s both gripping and oddly fun. The cast is large and full of strong personalities, and while they occasionally blur together, the overall dynamic adds to the sense of chaos and unpredictability. No one is entirely trustworthy, everyone has something to lose, and watching it all unravel is half the fun.
The pacing builds beautifully—starting with a slower, character-driven setup before picking up speed and turning into a bingeable, twist-filled ride. The atmosphere is sharp and claustrophobic, and the constant sense that everything is about to go very wrong keeps the tension high throughout.
Overall, this is a bold, addictive thriller that embraces its messy, unhinged energy in the best way. If you love stories about rich people behaving badly, dark humor, and twists that keep you guessing, this one absolutely delivers.

Interesting and creative thriller with an assortment of characters, though at points the characters merge a little. 4 stars. tysm for the E-ARC.
Ooh this was a great read!
The story follows a despicable rich family the Morland’s, feuding siblings squabbling over an inheritance that is controlled by their horrible grandma.
With an announcement over who will inherit the family estate and an inspection due, the siblings plan one of their infamous parties just days before…. The party to end all parties….
Cue lots of bitching and underhand tactics between the siblings, plenty of drugs and an affair… what could possibly go wrong?
I loved this story! I was gripped from the start. The pace was fairly quick and the story was really easy to read and well told. I loved the sibling rivalry, and most of all the little goat- Izzy Pop!
There were plenty of twists and turns throughout the story, which was told from the pov of 2 of the siblings Kassie and Paul, as well as mysterious camera footage.
This was an entertaining, mysterious read that I really enjoyed. I think this might be my new favourite from this author. Thank you to Avon publishers for the advance read, opinions expressed here are my own 4.5⭐️
Basically: rich people behaving badly… and then making worse decisions.
This one is a dark, messy, slightly unhinged locked-room thriller where a wild party ends with a dead guest and instead of calling the police, the siblings decide to hide the body. Bold choice. Terrible plan.
✔️ dysfunctional, privileged siblings you love to hate
✔️ secrets, paranoia, and shifting alliances
✔️ strong “this will absolutely end badly” energy
✔️ dark humor that makes the chaos even better
The Morland family is the definition of toxic wealth—everyone has something to hide, no one trusts each other, and the tension just keeps building as everything spirals. Watching them unravel? Honestly its kind of fun.
It starts a little slower, but once it gets going, it turns into a bingeable, twisty ride where you’re just waiting to see who cracks first.
Think: toxic wealth + bad choices + one very inconvenient corpse.
Verdict:
✔️ messy in the best way
✔️ entertaining + dramatic
✔️ come for the party, stay for the downfall

Thank you Avonbooks & NetGalley for this ARC! I
was excited to receive this ARC as I went to see Lucy talk last year about her previous book (which I’m still to read) and she was really interesting to listen to & was so lovely!
This book was quite different to many books I’d read before which hooked me in. It is about four entitled siblings who have a lot of secrets between them! They are throwing one of their famous parties before it’s decided who is going to take over their ancestral family home.
However, at the party, someone dies so the siblings have a huge decision to make regarding the body… all whilst their Grandma being on her way over to reveal her final decision.
I loved how this book was written! It was very humorous, there were so many family politics that were explored & it was also very messy! I found myself laughing at many of the characters and the things they said/did. Oh and I loved the goat! 🐐
An enjoyable read which I felt ended with space for a sequel so we’ll watch this space…
The Party to End All Parties by Lucy Roth
⭐⭐⭐⭐
This book is chaotic in the best way, like watching a glamorous disaster unfold in slow motion. I picked it up for the dark humor and locked room mystery vibes, and it absolutely delivered on both.
What worked best was the dysfunctional sibling dynamic and the sharp, biting tone.
The tension builds as secrets unravel, and the absurdity of their choices made it both entertaining and suspenseful. Some moments felt a little over the top, but that actually added to the fun, slightly unhinged atmosphere.
I’d recommend this to readers who enjoy dark comedy, messy families, and twisty, character driven mysteries.
The Party to End All Parties is a masterclass in family dysfunction. The four siblings are brilliantly immature, making the battle for their father’s inheritance a wild, chaotic ride. Between the deep-seated resentment and the constant competitiveness, the party atmosphere becomes a pressure cooker that I couldn't stop reading.
What made it so gripping was the conflict of interest; I wasn’t sure who I wanted to side with more, as every character was equally flawed and fascinating. Even as someone who doesn't typically seek out drama, I found this story absolutely addictive.
kATHLEEN G, Reviewer
The four Morland siblings are all just awful. They're sort of on trial with their grandmother who will decide which of them will inherit their father's estate so what do they do- they throw a blow out of a party. Drugs, alcohol all of it. So when one of the guests ends up dead, it somehow makes perfect sense to them to hide the body. Of course things don't go as planned. Lots of bad decisions for this privileged immature crew but Roth has layered in snarky humor. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. You won't like anyone but the goat but you'll keep reading.
Set over a weekend at the families huge estate 4 siblings throw one of their infamous extravagant parties. However with the estate up for inheritance and their grandma due to make a decision of who will get the house, every sibling is out for themselves. This was quite a wild read, with drink , drugs, secrets and lies, what could go wrong? Kassie is the narrator and through her we find out that her entire family may be against her. Her siblings characters are to be desired and not very likeable which makes this book more fun in my opinion. A good read, I will be recommending
