Description
Burst pipes. One bed. Feelings I did not sign up for. And a vet with very large… hands. Merry Christmas to me.
I probably should’ve asked more questions before accepting a temporary Christmas nursing contract to “get my life back on track.” Like: Is the local vet my unresolved romantic trauma in human form? Spoiler: he is.
He’s also my former video-chat almost-boyfriend—the one I ghosted seven years ago, right after finishing chemo, when my body felt borrowed and my heart felt like an organ I hadn’t relearned how to use yet.
And now we’re sharing a honeymoon suite. (Me, him, my Emotional Support Pickle, and the vibrator named after him. Do not ask.)
Dr. Adam Large Hands, Larger Heart, Largest…Brain Harrison has my Great Dane swooning, my dachshund wearing a Santa hat, and me… laughing. Unclenching. Melting.
I should remember: it’s safer to freeze than to fall. (Shoutout to Dr. Jerk du Soleil, my ex, for turning me into Ice Queen Foster, ruler of emotional Antarctica.)
Adam’s leaving tomorrow. I’m leaving after Christmas.
One night won’t turn me into a messy puddle of emotions.
…Right?
It’s temporary. Unless it isn’t.
A Note From the Publisher
Marketing Plan
clears throat, puts on marketing hat
This author (who had cancer and has been in remission for six years and maybe-definitely added some of her own experience in this book) is currently in the middle of an international move and still somehow manages to send newsletters and run a F.R.E.E. Patreon. Yes, she would absolutely like a cookie. A Christmas one, please.
She calls this her “F***-it book” aka the story she finally let herself write, and she’s crossing her fingers it might be yours, too.
…her actual marketing plan?
Does still laughing at her own jokes and smiling at the thought of Pine Creek, emotional-support pickles, and Dickle the Brain count as a strategy?
No?
:-)
Well then, here’s what she is doing:
- Bonus Scenes in her free Patreon and newsletter
- Podcast episode about what it means to write her F***-It Book
- Possible Kobo and Nook promos (awaiting approval)
And mostly?
She’s simply crossing her fingers this book finds its people. If you're one of them: Hi, I'll share the cookies.
Thank you for reading.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - Only a 4 because I didn't like the weird flashbacks at the beginning.
This book is the perfect mix fun of a cozy holiday romance, chaos, a" haunted matchmaker hotel", and very real-life issues. Eve—nurse, cancer survivor, self-proclaimed Christmas Grinch—is trying to rebuild her life thanks to a jerk of an ex husband who jeopardized her career. Armed with trauma, and her two Golden Girls–inspired dogs, she stumbles into a tiny town that ends up giving her far more than a temp job.
Adam is the cinnamon-roll “almost ex” who got away 7 years prior, and their chemistry snaps right back into place. The story balances humor, heavier moments, and genuine emotion without ever feeling too sweet, too heavy, or too cliche. If you’re looking for a holiday romance with chaos, healing, small-town charm, and huge .............heart—and even an emotional support Dickle—look no further. Elodie Now is officially on my must-read list with definitely not lovers already downloading.
This was a fun book to get lost in. I was entertained and it didn’t seem like an effort to get through the story. Good writing and witty banter. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.

This book was a great kick off to the holiday season. It had lots of fun moments and witty banter. Lots of enjoyable side characters (and I can't wait to read all their stories!) and a cozy small town setting.
The author did a great job of balancing the heavy, serious moments with the lighthearted and fun moments. It had depth but didn't bring you down. I loved seeing Eve come into her own and start to heal from her toxic ex. Adam is the perfect book boyfriend and I adored his character. The chemistry between the two was evident from the start!
This was my first book by this author but I cannot wait to see what else is in store! I am anxiously awaiting the next book!
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced copy. All opinions expressed are my own.

Witty banter lightens the mood of the past cancer diagnosis. I loved the dogs even the quirky ones. I enjoyed the slow burn romance and the passionate plot is enchanting.
Thank you NetGalley and the author for the ARC
This was a sweet, spicy and incredibly heartwarming holiday book. Second chance love, small town, and three of the most adorable rescue dogs, who provide comic relief…Dorothy and her socks. The author handles the heavier topics in a sensitive and caring way, that reminds you that you’re more, more than a diagnosis, more than what has happened in your past. That dreams can change and it doesn’t mean you’ve failed, that just because you’ve been the strong one, and caretaker, it’s ok to lean on others and ask for help. This book will stick with me, it’s not just a holiday rom-com, it’s so much more.
