Description
“How’d I Miss That? will lift your eyes, fire up your faith, and leave you laughing along the way.”
—Louie Giglio, pastor of Passion City Church, founder of Passion Conferences, author of Don't Give the Enemy a Seat at Your Table
In How’d I Miss That? popular podcaster Cynthia Yanof shares the lighthearted, awkward, and occasional should-she-be-telling-us-this? moments that prove life is more than professional ladders, night sweats, and frantically searching for your phone. (Hint: It’s in your hand.) Turns out, the seemingly small things—like availability and generosity, friendship and forgiveness—aren’t so small after all.
So grab a Diet Coke and pull up a chair for some laugh-out-loud moments as Cynthia shares:
• Biblical assurances that’s it’s not just the “big” moments God uses to bring light into our homes, our workplaces, and our communities
• Inspiration for living each day with grace and forgiveness—for others and ourselves
• Funny and heartfelt examples of finding ordinary ways to live out extraordinary faith
• Comical reminders that some of the holiest moments happen with spinach in our teeth and our shirt tucked into our Spanx
For every woman who thought she’d change the world but now mostly changes the toilet paper roll (again), How’d I Miss That? reminds us that tiny acts of faith, sown daily, grow into something beautiful for God.

Funny and super relatable. This book will not disappoint. Don't miss this one.
Thanks to author, publisher and Netgalley for the chance to read this book. While I got the book for free it had no bearing on the rating I gave it.

Cynthia Yandof’s “How’d I Miss That?” Should really be called “What Really Matters (when it comes to life and faith), but there are probably already a million books by that name. It’s a book that is a reflection of what she has discovered to be valuable as a Christian in life. The stuff that makes your relationships richer, your faith deeper and helps you to get your true priorities in order. She cuts the fluff, calls a spade a spade and isn’t afraid to laugh at herself and not take herself too seriously. She treasures her walk with the Lord, isn’t about pretences and says what everybody is thinking but won’t. Cynthia has a popular podcast called “Messmerized” which she touts as a “Funny and Faith. Based encouragement in marriage, family, Christian Parenting. You know how they say the funniest people are usually the smartest? It must be true because Cynthia also has a background in law. All in all, her book is a lighthearted and fun reminder on what is truly important, what matters most and gives you permission to gracefully cut the rest and have a little giggle at yourself as you go through the process.
How'd I Miss That is the second book by Cynthia Yanof that I have read. It reads similar to her first one, Life I Messy, God is Good. She writes in memoir/essays with a sense of humor incorporated. In the stories of her and her family's lives she instills Biblical truths.
Yanof is a middle-aged Southern woman who has two biological children and now raising an elementary age adopted son. It's her transparency that I enjoy most-life isn't always easy, but it is good when you have God. She has the rare ability to show her family how her family is living for God but does it without boasting and instead how they learned many of the lessons the hard way.
I started this book through a kindle edition but ended up listening to most of it. Having the author reading it and adding tidbit extras made it even better.
I received a complimentary copy of this book thanks to NetGalley and David Cook, but all opinions are my own.
